Mainly for how short the run was and just a lack of much to it. Aside from a couple big matches like the Jay Lethal one, it may have been the most afterthought the title's ever been since its inception. I'd say Darby's comes close, also feeling lacking, but I think of him more with that belt than I do Sammy.

Miro's reign > Sammy's reign
It sucked. Imma treat it like Kofi's reign as WWE Champion and measure it as a whole rather than the ending and honestly even doing that, nah. This just wasn't it.

Probably just by default? But having four successful defenses is still a decent reign and nothing to sniff at
He'll win it again I'd imagine.

Yeah probably, and I say that as a Sammy fan. All his matches were good to great, but he did get stuck in the ATT feud. But not all title reigns are winners. But I have a feeling this won’t be Sammy’s last TNT title reign. Hopefully his next one is better.

Darby's first half was pretty weak but the latter half was good. Sammy got screwed by booking for sure, he had the weak first half like Darby but then just lost to Cody.

I feel like Eddie Kingston should have beaten Miro honestly. It felt like AEW never really had a firm idea of what to do with Sammy as champion, him being dragged into the IC vs. ATT stuff did not help matters.

Eddie was the original plan(the rematch was gonna happen at Grandslam) but then the Suzuki incident happened so Khan changed plans.

You’d figure that being labelled one of the Four Pillars would mean he’d at least be booked to the level of the other three, but he just hasn’t been recently, even though he was the one with a belt.

There’s been a lack of character progression from him that I’m not willing to completely blame on him. It might/probably was playing background in Inner Circle still.

Suzuki incident? Fans got upset that Minoru Suzuki's theme didn't play in full when he fought Jon Moxley in Cincinnati, so they turned that into a ministory that led to a tag match between Mox & Kingston vs. Suzuki & Archer at Rampage Grand Slam.

Suzuki incident?
His theme being cut short which caused quite a reaction on social media(it was trending worldwide)

Honestly, more of the reaction was towards the goober that called it “The Suzuki Incident” so we really should be using it ironically rather than anything serious. Because it really wasn’t.

But AEW reacted to it which proves that they listen to social media reaction, like how now they are going to have Cody going 100% heel.

That is true but it’s disengeous to act like it was a thing to not justify putting air quotes over.

Yeah, the real Suzuki Incident involved 3 Young Lions, a Yakuza Owned Bar filled with thugs and a truck. You know, a normal Thursday for Minoru.

Honestly? I'm fine with Sammy having a mediocre reign or being seen as the lesser pillar, because you can make good storylines out of that in the future. Hell if he goes after the belt again while Cody is still champion, it makes a compelling story there too

Dude got largely stuck in the mediocre Inner Circle/American Top Team storyline, and didn't have much in the way of title defenses outside of it aside from Tony Nese, Bobby Fish & Jay Lethal.
