I mean, sure? Every match was entertaining. I don't think it was bad per se and the story to getting there was good. Just nothing special with a belt that had a few good reigns so far.

Honestly? I'm fine with Sammy having a mediocre reign or being seen as the lesser pillar, because you can make good storylines out of that in the future. Hell if he goes after the belt again while Cody is still champion, it makes a compelling story there too
For some reason it feels like Sammy lacks something specially compared to MJF and Darby who are already established pillars.

Sammy's largely just been in the Inner Circle for most of his run and hasn't really had a chance to shine on his own.

Also, and it should be pointed out again as tedious as it can be to say, dude was a genuine ratings draw. Like, one of the most watched matches across all of AEW this past month in terms of demos was him against Tony Nese of all people. It is a real shame there wasn’t more meat to the bone but at the same time some groundwork was laid for future builds and/or reigns.

His character is he’s a f*** boi who can wrestle good and flips the bird. Hopefully with IC barely being a thing, this loss propels him into something/anything different.

His only PPV appearance as champ was as a cog in the inner circle/ATT match, ignoring the end of the reign (have to wait and see...again! on that) then that's the main problem. They should have shifted him out of that match (easily done I would have thought) and have him do an open challenge at Full Gear and debut Lethal that way. Having the Lethal match on dynamite means only hard core Sammy fans will remember it in 6 months time.

It's interesting because he always gets good reactions. I just think there's an emotional aspect that has never hit home with me in the same way Jungle Boy and Darby do. It's hard to say what he needs. He could be a heel again (but with a different take on it) but his moveset is so god damn fun to watch. In my view, I think he needs a real blood feud to sink his teeth into. And not a Spears or Miro type feud. A kind of feud with Jericho turns on him or someone straight up murders Fuego. He needs to find that place where I can feel more from him.

I think he will be involved in another IC storyline, with Kingston and PnP becoming a thing like how they were in Impact, Jericho returns and we get PnP/Kingston vs Jericho, Sammy and Hager.

He really needed a feud focused on the title. Rather surprising for AEW to drop the ball on that front.

Jungle Boy weakness are his mic skills(he admitted in the past he hated cutting promos) but now he has a mentor in Christian who is helping him with this weakness.

And I feel like there's been a noticeable improvement in the past few months.

I’m wondering if he is somewhat miscast as a face at this moment. Not to say he’s a bad face, he certainly has characteristics of a good babyface. But I think his talents are better suited as a douche heel. And in 2020, he really excelled at that. The big reason he is a babyface now is because he really sort of broke through during the Jericho/MJF saga in the first half of the year, his feud with MJF, him walking out on the Inner Circle, him winning the Stadium Stampede match, I thought he was fantastic in all of that. And I think when he won the title initially, he was great, then it lost steam.
So maybe he needs find another edge again. As I’ve said, this is definitely not Sammy’s last title reign. But he does need a hot story to get him back on track. Maybe a heel turn can do that.

I suppose it'd be worst. That doesn't mean it was bad, honestly. His win was cool, and he had some good defenses.
It's just the TNT title has honestly been booked pretty well so far, so there other champion reigns have been more interesting. I guess I'd maybe put it over Cody's second reign since that one was largely to lose it to Darby and complete their angle they'd more or less had going since the initial Draw.

He had several good matches with it and as much as the IWC likes to bag on IC vs ATT that feud was super hot on TV and got consistently great reactions.

I think the run also cut Miro off at the legs. He’s back to cutting promos in the void again without direction and I think a monster Miro title run would be better than Sammy or Cody.

I'd probably call Brodie's the worst. Outside circumstances and all but even before he had to drop the title he kind of just got undercut at every turn and his team got pinned at All Out by a guy who promptly stopped appearing for AEW afterward.
