Can't wait for the screeching from morons irate over them daring to get a trans actress to play a trans character.

I really liked the Batgirl of Burnside suit design and it's cool seeing the inspiration here. Also amusing seeing the usual types complain how it looks nothing like Batgirl. Further proof they're not really comic fans or haven't picked up a comic in like 30 years. The people who don't usually read comics are the ones that get the angriest about shit. Like, within the past year we had non comic readers freak out about bisexual Superman, including Dean Cain. Nevermind that he's the SON of the Superman most people know and Lois Lane. They're mad anyway.

Emphasis on that last point. I'm kind of reiterating a point, but it's kind of different approaches that DC and Marvel take to their universes: Marvel wants to you watch and will have an actor in a cameo or an easter egg to make you believe that what you watched mattered even if they were in different universes. DC stuff wants you to watch and if something doesn't match up or it's a different actor in the same role then it's separate worlds or it doesn't matter. Marvel rewards a viewer's attention and loyality, but the knock on Marvel is a lot of the films are cookie cutter with planned action scenes/CGI planned way before they even hire a director. DC films vary widely in quality. Marvel has had a couple of "meh" films, but never an outright bad one. Marvel is led by one person with a strong vision. So all of their stuff is filtered through him. If you like his vision then you are happy. If you want something radically different then you are out of luck. DC tried this only they picked the wrong person and had to course correct. Since then they have gone the opposite way of hiring different people and letting them have free reign over their projects. So if you dont like one project you might find another more your taste.

They're mad anyway. I gotta say, that whole thing seems to have been the intended reaction. DC wanted those headlines of "Superman is Bisexual" and whatnot, because they knew mainstream non-readers would freak out. The whole thing just comes off disingenuous, especially when you know they're going to want to turn Jon back into a kid so they can do more Supersons comics about Superboy and Robin (which Damian isn't even using that role currently, Tim is.)

Can't wait for the screeching from morons irate over them daring to get a trans actress to play a trans character. To their credit, they seem to be keeping quiet on this one, though I'm sure that won't last. I have seen a fair bit of outcry that a Filipina is playing a Singaporean character, though.

I would be down for a trans actress playing Batgirl, that is for sure.

They already exhausted a lot of the outrage back in the day when the Alysia first came into existence with the usual "waah sjw woke bawww" nonsense, which was leveled at the Batgirl of Burnside run as a whole because Gail Simone is a favorite target of theirs.

This is what happens when you don't cast Karen Gillan as Batgirl.

Goddamn it's good to see that suit again, even if it is clearly the more flexible stunt suit. It's almost a shame seeing Grace Randolph getting swarmed by the Snyder Cult for daring to say she likes the Keaton suit more than the Batfleck suit, but she knew the crowd she was getting in with when she started cheerleading for them.

Gail did not write Batgirl of Burnside. she wrote the Batgirl series directly before that where Alysia was introduced... I don't remember Alysia really showing up in the Burnside comic... a lot of the supporting cast from Gail's run kinda disappeared from what I Remember.

The New York Post is trash and panders to the kind of people who'd love to see this kind of movie crash and burn. So I'd take it with a grain of salt until confirmed by more reputable sources.
