The Rumbles were just really boring. Even a low-star power Rumble can be fun with small stories booked inside them but other than Ivory, Naomi/Sonya, and the Sami Zayn/Knoxville stuff, they didn't even really do that. They missed some really obvious stuff, such as getting the Mysterios in the ring together. How do you not do that?

My highlight was Mickie James with the impact title. The only thing that seemed important to me

Are they even gonna address who Lesnar took #30 from? In recent years they just had the losers in the championship matches fill spots in the rumble without any rhyme or reason.

The men’s match suffered from a lack of star power and bad booking. The women’s match had the same problems and also some dreadfully ugly wrestling.
But worst of all, neither match gave us an exciting final sequence. Even some bad Rumbles like 2012 had a good final two. This was just, well, let’s throw out the last person.

I didn’t think it could get worse than the Women’s Rumble, but the Men’s Rumble was atrocious. At least the Women’s Rumble, you had legit star power and a few women’s legends like Ivory, Mickie, Molly, Lita, heck even the Bellas. But the worst part about that was the match was almost half of the women didn’t work for the company. And of course you have a very uninspiring winner and even more uninspiring runner up.
The men’s one was even worse and just filled with people no one cares about, two celebrities that people cared more about than 95 percent of the wrestlers and another uninspiring winner.
This was worse than 95, because at least 95 was about half the length and was helpful in making HBK a main eventer. This Rumble did nothing for anyone.

Eh still better than 1999. It's gonna take something truly awful to ever beat that.

Just looking at the eliminations list I just find it headtilting that everything about the build to the men's seemed to suggest that Theory or Omos would go on some big elimination spree or something and then no, they both just kind of did little and got tossed unceremoniously. I think Bad Bunny might have gotten the most total eliminations other than Brock or f***ing Madcap Moss According to Wikipedia at least AJ got the most eliminations.

I’ll just repost what I said in the live thread
Man this was BAD. I usually look forward to the rumble but they botched both. The women’s was ok, I didn’t think it was as terrible as people say it was but it was definitely the weakest of the women's rumbles so far. But the men’s was just not good, like nearly 1999/2010/2015 bad…

Men's rumble felt like there was like nothing that had me going "OH SHIT LET'S GOOOOOO!" When the biggest reaction from me was Bad Bunny, yeah might be a sign your rumble is not good.
Also I'm shocked it took this long for a Kofi spot to botch, I hope they are now down with the saves now because it was only a matter of time before something like this would happen.

Women's was way more fun. The bigger names helped. Mickie getting her Impact theme. And they worked their asses off.
The men's was painful and I just wanted it to end.

Are they even gonna address who Lesnar took #30 from? Did they ever address who Reigns took it from in 2017? Doubt they will here either.

I dug the women’s one for some reason. Probably just in a good mood. The men’s one sucked ass the entire time.

If you want to put into perspective the damage WWE has done to its female roster, half the entrants in tonight's Rumble weren't active competitors on Raw or SD (and of course none from NXT). That's how gutted things have gotten. Yup. And there rumors that there will be more cuts after Feb. 3rd. The fact that the big women's match will feature Ronda (likely against Charlotte if rumors are true), bodes really poorly. I have a feeling with as bad as Ronda looked upon her return, that her match with Charlotte is going to fall off the rails. Especially since Ronda needs to be heavily scripted, and Charlotte can't carry greener workers, especially if things go off the rails. Meanwhile the rest of the women will just languish in the pre-show battle royal or just not be on the card at all, since the Bellas have already said they want the women's tag titles.

This night just highlights how the mass releases and bad booking have them in a horrible spot. They have no young stars ready to move to the top, most of the matches just felt like nothing but midcard jobbers, the only way anyone matters is to be a part timer because you aren't around enough for them to screw you in booking.
This company can not make new stars to save it's life and it becomes really evident when the final 4 of a royal rumble include a singer and shane mcmahon.

Women's Rumble was fun just to see all the ppl that came out, but lord the men's Rumble was goober after goober until like more than halfway in. The pops for the women were WAY louder and bigger overall then most of the men's entrants.

It’s not even fair to compare the womens to the mens. The womens rumble had a lot of fun moments, surprises, and an invested crowd.
The mens rumble was the shits.

Are they even gonna address who Lesnar took #30 from? Wouldn't it have just been Bobby Lashley instead if he had lost the title match?

Both matches were bad. Had some TERRIBLE booking choices, moreso the women’s matches. And in the end, the winners were insanely predictable and boring.
I’ll say it, worse than 2015 imo.

Every thing about that men's Rumble was awful. Zero flow or storytelling whatsoever: -AJ seeming to be the iron man of the match, but it ends up going nowhere -Rey and Dominic never in the match together -Priest and Bad Bunny never in the match together, Priest's (terrible) new gimmick never comes up -Theory as "Vince's guy" ends up going absolutely nowhere, and he's not even in there when Shane comes in which could have been...something? -Orton as the hometown guy and veteran, tossed like an afterthought -Big E with the biggest motivation to need/want a win, tossed like an even bigger afterthought -Brock not even technically in the match since he could have won earlier but gets #30 somehow and just tosses everyone left with ease, meaning literally everyone else in the Rumble were never more than afterthoughts
They didn't even TRY with this one. Garbage.
