46. PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale I don't wanna say this game's underrated, because it had a lot of flaws, but I had fun with it. Obviously, the roster wasn't anywhere near as good as it should've been. No Crash, Cloud, Lara, etc. Why Big Daddy? DmC Dante instead of OG Dante. The fact that you only get an elim with supers was another flaw. It meant the characters with the best supers pretty much dominated. But I had fun playing Drake, Sackboy, Raiden and Sir Daniel Fortesque.

I at first could not wrap my brain around the idea that there were enough fighting games to fill this list, then remembered that that I have a couple on my PS5 (well, they are PS4 games on my PS5), MK 10 and DB Xenoverse 2, which both of them come from series with a ton of entries. Through in all of the arcade ports (especially once you include the various series on the Neo Geo machines), and you could fill a list that far exceeds 70.

45. Street Fighter EX3 The last in the EX series... well, until Fighting EX Layer. This game had a tag system, which I completely forgot about. I guess this was released around the same time as Tekken Tag Tournament. EX3 was a good game but I feel like there were better fgs around at that point. Plus, I think I was getting tired of the EX series.

44. King of Fighters '98 My first KOF game and it was a good one. I received this along with Darkstalkers 3 from my neighbour. Not much to say about this one, other than it was a really solid game that I played quite a bit. Oh, they should bring back Lucky Glauber and Heavy-D!

Damn, Alpha 2 is just at 47? I figured it'd be higher. That's one of the best SF games.

Aren't they patching in Rollback netcode for KOF14 if they didn't already? I thought I heard something like that. Interesting note: Mortal Kombat vs. DCU isn't just a crossover fighter, it's part of Mortal Kombat Canon (or Kanon, if you will). It's considered Mortal Kombat 8. Funny thing is, Mortal Kombat didn't technically return to the number naming scheme until MK11. IIRC, the "X" in Mortal Kombat X was meant to refer to the letter X and not the Roman numeral for "10" even though it's the tenth entry in the series.
Surprised KOF98 is this low, unless 98UM gets another, higher entry. I think it's one of the best entries in the series and would probably be in my top 10-15.

A game in the 40s might seem low but I still love these games, just not as much as the higher-ranked ones, lol.

43. Darkstalkers 3 Like I said, I got this with KOF '98. I liked this slightly more because the premise is a little more unique. As a kid who loved monsters, I was always gonna have a blast with this. I did buy the online version, too, and had fun with B. B. Hood. I was looking forward to a new entry... thanks, Capcom.

42. Bloody Roar 2 I'm not 100% sure which Bloody Roars I've played, but this is the one I still own, so I'm just going with this one. The gameplay is really good and still holds up. The attacks are smooth and look nice. Of course, the appeal of these games is that your characters can turn into animals. This is definitely one of those old series that needs to be brought back. I played this again recently and what surprised me was the arcade/story mode. It's actually really good for the time. Before every battle, there are 'cutscenes' or just pictures, I guess, actually telling a story. I can't think of an fg with an arcade/story mode on the PS1 that was this good. It really surprised me, actually.

41. Eternal Champions I loved this game as a kid. It had cool characters all pulled from different time periods, an interesting story, and fatalities (that I somehow was able to pull off). I hate to say it, but I don't feel it aged well, though. I played it not long ago and I couldn't get into it. It aged like the first Mortal Kombat, rather than like Street Fighter II. But it was great back in the day.

40. Tekken 4 The first disappointing Tekken game. I think most people consider this to be the worst one. But it's Tekken, so it's still really good. There were a few reasons this was a letdown. I believe 3 and 4 have the same amount of characters, so it was disappointing that there weren't more in 4. The new characters they did add weren't that interesting to me. I mean, one was an Eddie clone. Steve's a cool character, though. Combot? Wtf? Technically, Jin was a new character because they completely changed his moveset. They brought Kazuya back which is good because I love Kazuya. Obviously, I didn't play this game competitively, but there were issues there, too. Jin was infamous for how broken he was. I believe there were problems with the stages, too. Like some of the stages had uneven ground. Anyway, the worst Tekken game, in my opinion, but one of them had to finish last.

39. Dead or Alive 6 DOA seems to be one of those series in a bit of a rut. I feel like they need to mix things up for the next game. I'd like more weirdo characters and fewer ninjas. Having said that, this is a solid entry. The story mode was kind of a mess; I prefered 5's. This was the first DOA I tried to learn for real. It's interesting. From what I remember, you have to 'stun' your opponent and during that time they can counter your attacks until they get launched. I thought it was fun but I never got too good at it. Unfortunately, the online was kind of bad. This is one of the few games I have a platinum trophy for. So I enjoyed it enough to get that, although it wasn't the hardest platinum ever. I mained Kasumi and Kokoro. DOA's roster really is kind of bland and I think that's my biggest issue with the series.

38. Street Fighter V Another disaster from Capcom. This game was a mess at release, and while they've finally fixed a lot of issues, I'm still not a huge fan. However, they did do a few things right. I guess I'll start with the good, which has mostly to do with the gameplay because they did nothing right when it came to offline content. They got rid of crouch tech and vortex. They dumbed-down combos, which is good and bad. I personally hate hard combos, but watching someone else pulling off a hard combo is hype. The game is way more balanced than IV was. Backdash invincibility was removed. There might be some other things I'm forgetting. My main complaint is the lack of depth. For example, they took away proximity normals, which are moves that only come out when you're close to your opponent, meaning characters have fewer moves. There's just a lack of options. Online is bad. Offline was bad at launch. Remember when there was only survival mode and it was the worst thing ever? This game's mostly just dull and I'm kind of getting bored just talking about it so I'm moving on.

37. Tekken 6 I have mixed feelings about this game. Again, it's another game that was tarnished for me by Street Fighter IV. SFIV was new and fresh and Tekken 6 is just Tekken, again. I feel like the PS3/360 era was rough for Tekken. Thankfully, they've recovered with 7. I remember that weird scenario mode. It was kind of like Tekken force but not fun. Online was horrendous. I think they eventually improved it but it was rough at first. I never bothered learning this game. It wasn't until TTT2 that I learned how to play Tekken. I know it sounds like I'm being harsh, but it's still a Tekken game. The gameplay's still great. SFIV just overshadowed it, for me.

36. Bushido Blade 2 This might be a surprise. This actually never released in Europe, but I played the Japanese version as a kid. And I was somehow able to figure out how to play the game! This game was so good, though. It's funny because I didn't like it at first because of the fact you can one-shot enemies. I thought it was boring. But my friend, who is apparently a lot smarter than me, convinced me it was good because it was realistic. He was right. I remember the gun-wielding enemies and I always struggled against them. Cheaters. Unfortunately, I have no way of playing this game anymore. But it deserved a decently high ranking.

35. Dead or Alive 5 I never played DOA4, so it was nice to return to the series with 5. And it was a really good game. I liked the improved graphics with the characters looking less like dolls. I really enjoyed the story mode, even if it was silly at times. Unfortunately, the online wasn't great so I didn't play the game for as long as I would've liked.

34. Injustice 2 I never played the first game so I decided to give the sequel a shot. Story mode was fun. I'm not a comic book fan so I don't know how accurate anything was. The graphics were great and much improved from the first game. I think online was really good, but I'm having trouble remembering. I mained Harley and Black Canary. I liked this game online but, again, I felt like the gameplay lacked depth. Also, how many zoners did this game have? I don't have anything against them but there seemed to be so many.

33. Soul Calibur IV This seemed to be where the SC series started to go downhill a bit. I know some people had issues with III, too. I personally really liked IV, but I can definitely say it was a step down from the others. Coming off of III, this entry had way less single-player content, which was disappointing. Nothing close to Chronicles of the Sword in this game. Only two (did Amy count?) new characters (not counting those weird mimic characters). Although, there were three guest characters. Speaking of those, damn, did the Star Wars characters get a lot of hate! As someone who doesn't care about Star Wars, I thought they were sick. I did play the PS3 version, though, so I didn't have to deal with Yoda. As for online... it was awful and so I didn't play it too much. I know this game was apparently awful competitively, too. Hilda was broken as f***, I believe. I don't know much else about that, though. So I really liked this game, it just wasn't as good as the first three, in my opinion.
