I mained Supergirl in Injustice 2 and thought she was a lot of fun. I also have a much higher opinion of SF5 than most because I didn't play the game until the Championship Edition came out. So it had most of the DLC characters included as well as the fleshed out modes not in the original version. Still the initial worst fighting game release I've ever seen. And I hope V-Skills and V-Triggers stay in SF5 and we don't get SF6 versions. For such a core component, a lot of how they actually worked in both practice and execution seemed a lot more esoteric compared to series trademarks like EX skills and supers, or one-time mechanics like SF4's ultras and focus attack's or Alpha's ism's.
Though I never really looked at SF5's tier lists, but SF4 was impressive in how balanced it was. In terms of character matchups, it was one of the most balanced fighting games since Super Turbo. Something that's even more impressive with how large the roster got.

32. Under Night In-Birth This game might be considered a hidden gem, or at least not as well known as some of the other games on this list. I struggle to remember the actual mechanics but this felt like an easier Guilty Gear. Still hard, though, and I wasn't that good at it. There's a really cool atmosphere around this game, with every stage being at night. The amazing OST helps, too. The characters were pretty cool, if not the most original bunch. I liked Linne and Vatista. Merkava was interesting, too, but I never got around to learning him. This game was pretty niche so there weren't that many people online. I think this game come out around the same time as TTT2, so I ultimately settled on that. But I had a good time with it.

31. Soul Calibur V This might be a surprise. I feel like this game is underrated but it definitely had issues. The main one everyone complains about is the fact they took out the old fan favourite characters and replaced them with new characters that nobody liked. I have to agree that pretty much every new character sucked and was an inferior version. I think it was a good idea to freshen the series, but the problem was the new characters just weren't interesting. Tekken did the same with 3, but the new characters in that game were superior to the old ones. Oh well. But I enjoyed everything else in this game. The graphics and soundtrack were amazing. Story mode was dumb but enjoyable. Best thing about the game was online. What an improvement over IV. This had the best online of any fg I'd played at that point and I have no idea why VI's was so bad. For some reason, I didn't bother learning the game, though. I waited until VI like a dummy.

I bought SFV's first season, but the lack of content kept me from grinding and I was still enjoying IV. I played a lot more of the Championship Edition upgrade and at this point I bounce between Ultra Bronze and Silver with Ken after he got gradually buffed. After the final patch, I think this is one of the strongest Kens ever.
But I don't think any character is totally busted. SFV is pretty balanced, to where you'll see really good character specialists taking Dan Hibiki far in tournaments. The lack of unique normals from IV sucks, but I do love V-Shift and V-Trigger as well. SF6 will more than likely have fresh mechanics, though.

I love everything about the Injustice games except the game itself. I cant bring myself to enjoy it or MK gameplay. At least SFV eventually got slightly interesting, even If i recommend everyone that asked to just not buy it until the end of its lifecycle where it actually had something going

30. Mortal Kombat Man, this game was hard to rank. On the one hand... it's Mortal Kombat! It's one of the most popular games ever made. On the other hand... it's aged like shit! This game is unplayable these days. It's so slow and everything's delayed like crazy. But I loved this game as a kid, even though I was one of those kids who weren't allowed to actually own it at first. So I decided to just plonk it in the middle of the list. I love it but it sucks.

I had my most fun with MK2 gameplay wise, but I was always ass at Midway and Netherrealm game mechanics.
Aside from that, my favorite Mortal Kombat anything is the 1995 movie.
Second place for me is the Justin Wong “YOU’RE GONNA LEARN” video.

Having said that, the home ports came out my freshman year in college. I played this one in the dorms so much with friends and thought I was an average player. Turns out that we basically improved each other so much that any of us could dominate when we played anyone else. I remember going to a party, playing against a number of people while carrying on full conversations with other people and wiping the floor with everyone while only paying half attention to my gameplay.

I really didn't get into NetherRealm/MK-style mechanics until the 2.5D MK and Injustice games.
Granted, Injustice and I2 were good especially because they felt like a bridge between SF and MK-style mechanics.

29. Tekken Kind of like MK, this game hasn't aged that well, but it's still aged better than MK. And like MK, this game was so good back in the day. You know, I was so bad at this game, that I didn't even know there were unlockable characters. This game has some funny endings that I recommend checking out. They're not quite MK4 funny, though.

28. Tekken Tag Tournament I think one of the reasons people were disappointed with Tekken 4 was because of how good this game was. That opening is iconic to me, as is that music that plays in every single character ending. It was cool to see every character from the first three Tekken games (except my boy, Bosconovitch). The tag system was a lot of fun, though I couldn't quite handle it properly as a kid (I'd have to wait until the sequel). Never played the remaster, unfortunately. Actually forgot it even existed until I made this list. I think a lot of people consider this to be their favourite Tekken. It's not quite up there for me but it's still a great game.

The best thing about Tekken is seeing the canon reasons why Paul Phoenix doesn't win the King of the Iron Fist Tournament. I think my favorite one is that he got stuck in traffic before the final.

27. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 I have a love/hate relationship with this game. First of all, this was when I actually learned how to play Tekken. Big mistake. This was seriously the hardest fighting game I've tried to learn. It got a lot of criticism at the time because of how difficult it was for beginners, and that's why they made so many changes in Tekken 7. This game includes every single character in Tekken history, all of which have over 100 moves. On top of that, you have to learn two characters right off the bat. Learning which moves can be ducked, sidestepped (left or right), parried, punished, jumped over, punished on block, etc, was a nightmare. Anyway, I eventually learnt the game until I was able to get consistent wins, at least. Thankfully, the online was amazing. I used to play my friend on a red bar connection and it was flawless. Offline content was lacking. There was no story mode or anything like that. This game was not casual friendly, at all, and it sold poorly. But they rebounded with Tekken 7. So this game was really fun once I figured how to play it competently. The fact that there are so many moves in Tekken is both good and bad. It makes the game harder to learn but it has so much depth. Flawed but fun game. Also, this one had Bosconovitch.

26. Dragonball Z: Budokai 3 Not much to say about this one. It's a DBZ fighting game and it's really fun! It's been years since I played it and I think I played the previous two but decided to just rank this one. I have more to say about another DBZ fighting game on the list so let's move on!

Budokai 3 is my favorite DB fighter after Dragon Ball FighterZ. The original game was a pleasant surprise and after Budokai 2 didn't quite hit the same mark, Budokai 3 really felt like one of those "everything good about the first two games and improved upon" games along with an absurdly big cast of fighters.
The developers on the Budokai series, Dimps, also went on to make Street Fighter IV and helped work on SF5 and SoulCalibur VI.

25. Samurai Shodown (2019) I thought this game was really underrated. I don't know if it sold that well, but it was pretty dead online. But this is a really unique fighting game. I've never really played one like this. It has barely any combos and the combos it does have are, like, 3 hits at the most. So you have to rely a lot on footsies and spacing and mind games. I thought the game looked great and it sounded great, too. Some really nice music in this. Like I said, there weren't that many people online. The connections also sucked for the most part. I mained Wu-Ruixiang, Nakoruru, Shiki and Tam Tam. Wu was pretty weak and Tam Tam was pretty OP. Yeah, it's a shame this game wasn't more popular because I thought it was really fun and unique.

24. Mortal Kombat X I'm going with X as the weakest MK since the reboot but it's still clearly a great game. I enjoyed the story but not as much as 9's. It was great to see new characters introduced that were actually good. No Hsu Hao's or Cobra's in this game. Erron and Ferra Torr were my favourites of the new bunch. There were some issues with the graphics. The female character's faces were off, for one. And MK always has an issue with the animations being so stiff. And some of the moves just look awful. Kitana's crouching kick was infamously crappy looking. Unfortunately, it's still an issue in XI but not quite as bad. I love how much content the MK games always have. They never shortchange the players who like to play offline. Online was pretty bad at first, though I didn't seem to have as many issues as most people. They did fix this with XL but I never played that. When it comes to the gameplay, my complaint again is lack of depth. I mained Sonya and I would literally use two strings with her over and over again. She had an overhead string and a low string. She had other strings but there was no reason to ever use them. It was just 50/50 after 50/50 and it was like this with most characters, so it got old. I still had a lot of fun but when there's a lack of depth, I'm just not gonna stay around very long. I also didn't like the variations. It's a cool idea but I feel it just limits the characters when they could just be given all of these moves in one complete moveset.
