This was a pretty big hit for Cameron and Arnold in the 90s. The entire cast is great IMO. One the only movies I enjoy Tom Arnold in. Tia Carrere was a greag sleazy sexy villain. Amazing action set pieces.
But the movie is mostly forgotten. There are several reasons for it to.be ignored now. The racism, the sexism, and the stuff that came out during MeToo from Dushku. But it was mostly forgotten before all of this should have been an issue. Was Titanic coming along and being such a success the reason?
But warts and all this is still a movie I can put on and watch just about anytime.

It was Arnie’s last great film and I think there was definitely scope for a sequel. I’m not the biggest fan of James Cameron at all, I’ve always thought he’s an arrogant prick. But when he’s firing on all cylinders, there’s few directors that can match him in directing amazing set-pieces.

Is it really that forgotten?
People that dig Arnie movies love this.
And yes, I agree it was fantastic.
Also, I saw this when I was like 14. I had very strange feelings about Jamie Lee Curtis. I was like "She's hot but she's like my moms age!". American Pie hadn't come out and taught us what MILFs were yet.

One of the best Arnie films, still holds up and as mentioned the set pieces are something special. The horse chase, the car/truck chase and the finale with the harrier jump jet are really good.

Watched it recently for the first time in a long time and whilst not quite at the same level as the very best Schwarzenegger films, I thought it was a lot better than I remembered.
Watched it with someone who had never seen it before and she thought it was a blast.

Maybe since it's not a franchise like Terminator so it's not rerun as much. Now Eraser is a forgotten Arnold movie. Tia Carrera was a real standout to me, played a perfect Bond Badgirl. Would've been great in the Brosnan Bond era.

I usually hear it brought up when people discuss Jamie Lee Curtis and Bill Paxton, so I think there are definitely a lot of people who fondly regard it still, but yeah, admittedly, Eliza Dushku's situation does make it a bit tough to return to.

I feel like they were still talking about making a sequel as recently as last year.
While it hasn't become the pop culture touchstone a film like The Terminator or Predator has, it's just a notch below those films.
The Randy Orton to Terminator's John Cena, if you will.

I felt Collateral Damage to be the end of Arnie's era. Prior to that, up until End of Days (which I love), the style of his movies was both quintessential 80s/90s and star vehicles. When times changed, the movies changed and Arnold became a relic on camera. True Lies may be part of a trend that foresaw the future, like Last Action Hero.

That one also feels like the last of it's kind in a way. It already existed in a post Bourne world of action movies.

This and Last Action Hero are two of my all time Arnie movies. I feel like both never get mentioned enough. And what's the Eliza Dushku thing I keep see being mentioned?

She was sexually assaulted by a stunt coordinator who then threatened her with something "going wrong" if she told. Edit. He did cause her to be injured when she told a friend.

Yeah, I think Jamie Lee Curtis backed her up when she told the story. I think she was the one Dushku told, then oddly enough, Dushku suffered broken ribs during filming. Crazy how that happens. The guy was even calling her "jailbait" - She was 13 at the time. Real nasty piece of work. Aside from that, I'd watch it, before I knew this, and would frequently forget Tia Carrere was in it, and would always be happy she was, because she's stunning.

Art Malik was great as the villain too.
Great actor generally, but he's had a career a bit like Alfred Molina in that he's in a Hollywood blockbuster one minute, then small scale British TV the next.
