I don't think it's classless to say that the guy had faults or that I wasn't a fan. I don't understand taking offense to it, but I guess the line is different for everyone. I also didn't say that he was the drizzling shits. I just think he was way overpushed for a long time for obvious reasons. Which is far from a crazy stance, given how many have expressed it over many years. I think the issue would be more coming into a thread about a guy going into heart failure, thinking he may never see his kids again and talking about how overpushed he was. Maybe a valid argument to be had but doesn’t seem like the time and place. I commented on his health and it was cropped out though. This thread is for both (health, retirement). The other thread is an appreciation thread which seems more out of place tbh. No one is making light of his health issues, but it's kind of a dual discussion like when any athlete retires for serious health issues. Recently there was a NBA prospect who was a projected 1st round pick who was discovered to have a heart condition that has killed players in the past. When someone says "What could have been..." about their career, is it insensitive to comment on their career when they could have died on the court like Hank Gathers? No, because it's in the context of their health and their retirement separately. I feel worse about the continued derailing of the thread than stating a very obvious criticism of a guy on his retirement. So I won't re-hash this again.
