Poor WWE scriptwriters, probably heading to the pub having got Raw in the bag only to get a call from Vince to rewrite the lot to get a 40 minute parody segment in.
Tbh this will probably get referenced everywhere SNL, South Park, Simpsons, might even get a line or two on Dynamite.

It's poppin. The most talked about thing from the Oscars in such a long time. But there was similar talk about the whole La La Land/Moonlight debacle a few years back and they did jack shit for the ratings as a year later, people had already stopped caring. Granted, this was obviously more dramatic but in a years time will many American people think “I must watch a three and half hour broadcast this year in case something big happens which won’t be shown in full anyway due to it going off the air almost immediately”? Definitely. I don't think this is going to increase ratings a large amount or anything, it won't really move the needle at all tbh. it's just a good talking point for the next week or two. All the headlines, podcasts, social media comments, comedians, people are going to be using this as material for a few weeks. But it won't help the Oscars out at all.

I put this in the Oscars thread, but then I saw this one, so... here lol Will Smith slapping Chris Rock is literally the only thing I saw from this show, and after watching the uncensored clip of what happened, I have to say... if I were Jada, I'd be more embarrassed by my husband acting that way - after laughing himself - than a stupid joke. I know, alopecia, but really. There was zero reason for any of that to happen, especially over a (let's be real, here, tame) GI Jane 2 joke. Will should be mortified. It was a joke, yes but I think it was the straw that broke the camels back per se They have been the subject of a shit ton of jokes (most of them self inflicted) and Will seemingly laughed at the joke but once he saw how his wife felt about it he did what he felt was right The "Will and Jada love" which is what everyone wanted up until a few years ago is basically a toxic brand at this point

But why does that mean Rock specifically would know anything about it? Has Chris Rock ever mentioned he follows Jada’s podcasts or that he follows news about her or something? Literally damn near everyone knows about this She talks about it openly and it has been talked about and linked back to her. He knew and he was wrong It's also one of those things where I would think black people would know more about it than white people. I would definitely think a black celebrity like Chris would know about it especially since he's made jokes about her before.

If it is a work, then Will Smith still comes out looking like a f***ing fool. "Playing crazy" doesn't work out well for black people*. We've already got waaaay too many people out there thinking the worst about us for merely existing, so playing into negative stereotypes, like not being able to control your emotions & being violent, is not going to benefit Will.
* And don't even try to bring up Kanye. Not that Kanye didn't have issues before, but all that Taylor Swift moment did for him is bring his mental stability into question and allow him to engage in even more self-destructive behavior with a bigger audience to laugh at him.

Yea, I agree with that I just think it was a way too easy joke he should thought twice about and like i said one of those things where this was the straw that broke the camels back. Besides that, she has shown to be very sensitive about her hair loss and basically embraced it out in the open as a form of empowerment. You could made a bunch more jokes then that

I can't speak for a celebrity's knowledge, but I'm black, my aunt's black, and neither of us had any idea *shrugs*. EDIT: And personally, I never put much stake in "you should know (blank) about whatever black person, music, movie, etc.. thing because you're black...".

Honestly, if I was Chris Rock, I'd be more embarrassed at how people are acting over it than the smack. Some people, like Judd Appatow, are really getting unhinged here. "He could have killed him!" No, really, he said that. Like... what?

I’m not talking about this joke in particular (though I can see it being a little low brow… also a GI Jane joke? An unfunny reference to some movie from 25 years ago.. what is this Funny Guy?)
Anyways it feels like the Smiths do tell all interviews and memoirs, but when someone asks or jokes about they get all defensive. Never thought Will would straight up hit a guy.

That next Madagascar film is going to be fun when they’re doing the PR.

Yeah, you are going to have some way off the course BS Most likely Chris Rock is going to make money off of this himself and joke about it on his tour with Kevin Hart

To be fair, their boycott was stupid, concussion wasn't a good movie and Will didn't deserve best actor for it.

Mick Foley: Chris Rock no-selling Will’s offense like he was Billy Gunn during a TV loss!

"Keep my wifes name out your mouth" be more worried about the other men in hers, Will! Can we not please. I’m no fan of Jada Pinkett-Smith but she’s not really at fault in this situation and the fact that they apparently have an open relationship isn’t really relevant to the incident.

I think it was more talked about on the 7pm Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, Extra, type shows. Not sure what kind of ratings they get or demographics that watch it, but I know I heard about her condition there when I had it playing in the background and was only really reminded about it tonight.

Not true in this case as there was little contact it appears but you certainly can kill with one punch. Knew a guy who belted some guy in a nightclub for groping women, guy got up and ran away. Collapsed at work the next day. Guy I knew got 7 years (out in 4).
