You literally named the thread "Best Rapper ever?" So that people would give opinions and thoughts, but you come in here in with insults and shit. I didn't say a single insult, that's all you. And asking how much rap you listen to isn't an insult, it's a genuine question to figure out what sample size you're pulling from when making grand statements about Eminem.

Run-DMC is Hulk Hogan: While not as technically proficient as contemporaries, they kicked down the door wide for everyone. (Semi-bad comparison as it's Run's older brother Russell who's the hindsight problematic one, much like the Huckster)
Tupac is The Rock: Short peak with a shadow that still looms large. Relied on simple, crowd-pleasing tricks and may have never reached apex "work rate" before exiting.
Eminem is Steve Austin: A prodigy who grew to set the world ablaze at the perfect time (coincidentally the same time) but was hindered by injury [addiction] and came back with diminishing returns... for awhile. (Which begs the question: Who's the Hip-Hop Kevin Owens to bring Eminem back?)
Jay-Z is Randy Orton: Steady and omnipresent, but prone to long bouts of boredom. (Does that make Jay Electronica Matt Riddle?)
Black Thought is Bret Hart and oddly enough, MF DOOM is Shawn Michaels!

I always sided with the view that Pac was a poet who just happened to be a legendary rapper.
One can argue all day about the GOAT on a technical level but Pacs overall impact puts him as the GOAT atleast for me.

It's Kendrick or Jay for me.
Kendricks on an INCREDIBLE run of quality work and the substance of his music is what really gets me. Dudes got I lot of stuff to SAY that I've never even thought about before. Plus, dude gave us "i" and "i" is the best.
Jay-Z has an incredible run though. I went to look at his discography to see where he fell off for me and I'm like "...Damn, like that one. I like that one. I like that one." It's tough.
To weigh in on the Eminem discourse, I think Encore is one of the worst albums I've ever heard and Recovery is just as bad. The twin barrels of stink that totally take him out of contention for me.

It’s like saying “best actor ever”? Personal taste outweighs any other metric for the most part. I have my favorites. I think “Low End Theory” is the best rap album that was ever made. It’s like reading a story that never gets old. My favorite ever is DoggyStyle. I couldn’t tell you who the best “rapper” is because there’s no way it comes down to anything other than personal choice

Pac is the GOAT and while I will freely admit he is not the all time greatest lyrisist I personally put him above all the others. I'm with you. I've been listening to him a lot lately and I find that I still enjoy his music as much as I did when I was 13. Nostalgia's a hell of a thing, I guess.

Eminem is Steve Austin: A prodigy who grew to set the world ablaze at the perfect time (coincidentally the same time) but was hindered by injury [addiction] and came back with diminishing returns... for awhile. (Which begs the question: Who's the Hip-Hop Kevin Owens to bring Eminem back?) MF DOOM is Shawn Michaels! I'd say Eminem is more-so Goldberg. Had an absolutely incredible 3-4 year run where at one point he was the biggest thing on the planet. Then quickly showed when he lost his passion and halfassed it. Then went away for a while. Comes back when the money is good and, while his fans are still thrilled to see him, artistically it's been diminishing returns unless he's sparring with someone he's motivated against (Brock Lesnar/MGK). If anyone is Steve Austin, I'd say it's Snoop Dogg. Career started with universally being considered the rookie of the year. From there and a successful team (Hollywood Blonds / Dr. Dre) went on to branch out into very different markets/territories (the 1992 G1 was his No Limit Era, the well received redefining brief period with the Neptunes was his ECW) followed by becoming absolutely ubiquitous in the medium with both commercial and critical success, had his twilight give us some of his technical best work ever (Austin's 2001 is Snoop's 'The Blue Carpet Treatment') changed his focus to being a pop culture icon while being an early adopter to internet/mobile-based entertainment and releasing several lines of alcoholic beverages and acting in a bunch of movies of varying sizes. The best part is that, in this analogy, Kevin Owens is Martha Stewart. Also, that Michaels comparison to MF DOOM is more spot on that one might think at first glance. It'd either be Michaels or Warrior as far as DOOM's career and outside real life villainy goes.

(Does that make Jay Electronica Matt Riddle?) Different here is that Matt Riddle actually debuted though. Jay Electronica is Tom Magee. Papoose and Saigon are Hade Vassen and Brakkus.

I mean, I say this as someone who really liked Em's first few albums and if he kept up that consistency, he'd be in the conversation for me. SSLP was great. MMLP is damn near iconic. But it was all downhill from Encore on, and there was some really putrid shit afterwards. Like "Just Lose It" is one of the worst singles I've ever heard from a great rapper. Shit, I'm a big Dr. Dre fan but I wouldn't put him anywhere near that conversation for best rapper. Hell of a producer, though. He and RZA are in that conversation for me. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Still waiting for Detox, though.

I hate rap music so I don't have an opinion, but because I can tell the future, I knew what was gonna happen here.
Didn't disappoint.

As a rapper, Dr. Dre isn't much, at least when comparing him to his fellow N.W.A members like Ice Cube and MC Ren. Hell, people praise Eazy-E like he was a great rapper, but people have to remember that he didn't start off as a rapper. People also have to remember that Cube and Ren wrote some of his songs. Anyway, back to Dre, that's not to say that I don't like songs that he rapped on. But I could say that RZA is a better rapper than Dre is. However, both men are great producers. If you want to talk about other rappers who are also producers, there other good examples, some can do both well, too. DJ Quik, Daz Dillinger, Warren G, I could go on.

Continuing my wrestlers as rappers comparisons, Dr. Dre is Bobby Heenan: Passable as wrestler/emcee in limited capacity, but a genius at the business aspects he excels at. Managing and broadcasting vs. producing and entrepreneur-ing.
Along the same lines, the RZA could be Vince McMahon... except his ventures outside of his main professional field have been much more successful than the likes of WBF, WWF NY and XFL.

Not a huge rap listener as I am very picky with my rap. Lyrical content, the beat itself and the rapping itself all must be good to these ears. Though, I have a few exceptions and even the rappers I'm about to list have a few stinkers in their catalog.
In no particular order:
Murs Jurassic 5 Atmosphere Early Three 6 Mafia Sadistik Rittz Bone Thugs N Harmony Tech N9ne Eyedea and Abilities Rittz Run The Jewels Sage Francis
Among others.
I really don't seek out Rap in the way I do Metal, but I try to keep an open mind. Though, I abhor what gets played on the radio by my coworkers. Truly awful stuff.

My current personal favorite (And also the latest signee to the Universal Music Group) is the well endowed pink haired anime lass in my signature: Calliope Mori
(Language Warning)
And I'm actually serious about it too. I mean I admit I don't know too much about Rap, but if a song or in this case songs of any genre just grabs me by the brain stem and refuses to let go then I go with it and let the emotions drive me.
