I know WWE says Woman power this and Woman revolution that. but deep down they still have that old mentality. Dressing sexy gets you pushed.. I mean they hired priscilla kelly who is best known for shoving a tampon in someones match Kelly is actually a very accomplished worker...and I'm not seeing how "used a tampon in a match" equates with "dress sexy to get pushed". That said, yes, it seems WWE is prioritizing certain looks over actual aptitude for pro wrestling. I'm assuming a proviso in her contract is to never use a tampon as a weapon

What’s annoying is that Nikkita has shown some promise as well (albeit being very green).
But the commentary team last week was instead practically drooling all over themselves about how she looks and that was almost certainly an edict from backstage.

I hope people realize that people are very capable of conveying certain messages to others even when they're not explicitly saying something.

I hope people realize that people are very capable of conveying certain messages to others even when they're not explicitly saying something. What are you trying to say? Probably that just because management doesn't explicitly say they want the women to dress in skimpier outfits backstage and whatever, doesn't mean they aren't heavily implying it. And you can see it reflected in who is being featured the most right now as well.

Remember someone posted the pics of 2 weeks ago the women backstage and it looking like a modeling agency compared to how it previousy looked with the women in actual gear and the diversity in the looks amongst all the women. ![](https://images2.imgbox.com/d0/b0/UxR6VY7e_o.png) ![](https://images2.imgbox.com/2d/96/ZjaXYEpu_o.png) ![](https://images2.imgbox.com/67/39/nR7ImtXq_o.png) Once again, this is how many women(especially the age ranges of the NXT women) actually dress & NXT is pushing for a younger vibe so this makes sense. This is how many women athletes actually dress when not competing. Go look at WNBA or UFC athletes in how they show up to their games/fights. None of these women are dressed crazy by the standards that actual women athletes wear outside of the sport.

Just like a model, sex appeal is part of the expectation for the job. I doubt WWE is doing anything different than what they've always done. Glossing over the first part I disagree with pretty hard to focus on the second part: the big friction point is that it is a change. For a few years there, WWE moved away from hiring women for sex appeal. They took on women that had been turned down previously for not being 'pretty enough', started seeking out women from the indies who weren't the typical mold of WWE Pretty, and pivoted the division away from that presentation. Now, the people in management want to drag it back to that, and stuff like "dress sexier" seminars are the return of people who wanted the division to stay sexual coming in to course correct and get things back to how it was before Triple H and his whole 'women are people and not sex objects' thing junked up Johnny Ace's good time.

I see more women dressing in more casual attire like shown in the last picture there than walking around wearing fashion designer brand clothing. And it's blatantly obvious they are being told to show more skin and "dress sexier". You defending it is baffling since its painfully obvious its resulted in the women who aren't wanting to dress like that being heavily de-emphasized or outright buried.

I'd be interested to know from anyone who watches NXT 2.0; how often are the men dressed in 'casual everyday normal people clothes' like this? Like okay fine yeah the women are no longer just hanging around the show in their gear like people in wrestling have always done, fine. What are the men doing? Are they supposed to dress nice for their stuff or is it t-shirt and jean combos or ring gear all around?

Like…maybe I live in the wrong major European city but the last time I saw women dress up that way is on a night out in Temple Bar and not, like, during their work hours or casually going out to do shopping or whatever.
And since I’m about 12 years left in the demo, I think my words have a bit more solid foundation to them.

The only male wrestlers who walks around wearing a fancy suit really is Legado. Every other male just dresses super casually.

Hm, y'know that's really interesting, looking back those comparison photos, because you can see a few women there in jeans and a t-shirt or a tank top in the 1.0 days. But now that they've had their fashion seminars that totally were not a message for people to dress sexier, everyone is now organically dressed for a nightclub totally independent of any messaging or pressure. The women all changed how they dress but the guys are still doing what the guys do. For nebulous vague non-reasons. All I know is, I've watched more UFc shows than I'm proud of and I've never seen a female fighter wear something like that blue dress with the sides missing.

I have to ask, if the response to the whole "did they say 'dress sexier' or not?" question is "they didn't say it explicitly, but at least one person took it to mean that", then I have to ask: why does that perception exist at all?
When it comes to backstage dress code, there's two ways to do it: "dress casually" or "dress professionally". That's it. If someone's walking away from a meeting taking away a message that "they want us to dress sexier backstage", then something was communicated very, very poorly.
Frankly, if there's a meeting about backstage dress it should involve men and women. There's no reason whatsoever to have a dress code that doesn't apply across the board (obviously with some gendered language for certain kinds of typically male and female garb). If it was about on-screen dress, that's a bit of a different story, albeit still not a great one, since that implication is "dressing sexier can be tied to your push".

I'd cut WWE some slack on the clothing issue if the meeting had been for both the male and female members of the roster. But it wasn't. Only one half was being "encouraged" to dress sexier. The women are athletes, just like the men, but they rarely get treated that way. If I'm not mistaken, the men already have a dress code they have to follow. Either approved athletic wear or a suit. So why can't the women also wear athletic wear or a suit? Same for everyone?
