This group is supposed to be “taking over.” You cannot already be having two of them lose multiple big matches. Especially not to freaking Aliyah. Bayley being the only one who wins big matches, and Iyo and Dakota just being her flunkies, is NOT the most interesting way to do this. Problem is they’ve booked themselves into a corner here. Either Iyo and Dakota win, at which case Raquel and Aliyah only had like a three week reign and you have people going “then why have them win the first match to begin with?” Or you have Iyo and Dakota lose again, which really hurts the credibility of your new big heel group. Or you do a lame DQ/count out/whatever finish, which solves nothing. Feels like Damage Crtl will be taking the tag titles on Raw Monday since Raquel & Aliyah have basically cleared out the entire tag team division on the Heel side already. Natalya/Sonya and Shotzi/Xia Li during the tournament; Nikki/Doudrop on Raw last Monday and Toxic Attraction yesterday.

Probably more memorable than a Charlotte title reign

Shenanigans might happen if they want to stretch things to Extreme Rules and have a blow-off there, probably in a gimmick match.

Considering that shenanigans already happened in the first match, they would be quite lame imo.

lol, what was the point of this reign? They already dropped the titles to Io & Kota.

I think they only won the titles entirely for a swerve for the sake of a swerve. I guess you could argue it was to help establish them as an actual team, since the division kind of needs those, but still feels ultimately pointless.

lol, what was the point of this reign? They already dropped the titles to Io & Kota. I can only assume two things: 1) So Belair, Asuka and Bliss could get one upper hand moment before they lost at Clash At The Castle by costing Damage CTRL in the tournament 2) So Rodriguez and especially Aliyah have a tiny little bit of credibility that can be drawn upon for when other talents beat them. This would be on a largely nominal basis, sure, but beating someone who once upon a time won a thing gives you a little bit more then beating someone who has never won anything… I guess *shrug*

It's funny because if you peek onto Reddit, they seem to actively dislike Iyo and Dakota, or Damage CTRL in general. Even though outside of Reddit, the group is very much over with fans.

I don't get it. Is it them as talents or just them as a team/trio with Bayley? Because I'd think Iyo and Dakota would be really popular on "smarky" places like Reddit.

I do really like all three of them. I just feel like the actual group lacks chemistry and cohesion. It just feels like three heels thrown together without any real common bond. The matches will get over but I think there's a lot of work left to be done to truly make them a money drawing top heel act. It's why I wouldn't have had them lose in the finals. If any act needs to be undefeated, it's them.

I don't get it. Is it them as talents or just them as a team/trio with Bayley? Because I'd think Iyo and Dakota would be really popular on "smarky" places like Reddit. It's a bit of both. I've seen people trying to blame Iyo and Dakota for "being slow and sloppy" in all of their matches so far. When all of their matches have had one severe handicap or another. Iyo's match with Bianca was fine, to be fair, although I would have tweaked the finish so Bianca was on the verge of losing (clean) to Iyo before Alexa and Asuka interfered. It wouldn't have harmed Bianca and would have portrayed Iyo as an actual threat. But Tamina/Dana vs Iyo/Dakota, it shouldn't have gone more than a few minutes at most, considering both Dana and Tamina are 24/7 title geeks. Then you had Dakota/Dana the following week, which again was bad, because Dana got way too much in, and it made Dakota look weak. Alexa/Asuka vs Iyo/Dakota wasn't too great but that's because, while its mean to say, Alexa is over the hill as a performer at this point. She doesn't add anything to the match. The Raquel/Aliyah vs Iyo/Dakota matches were bad because neither Raquel or Aliyah are any good at this point. And in the case of Aliyah, she's been bad for the past 8 years. The Clash match was...okay? The problem is that again, Alexa was involved in the match and she just can't go in the ring anymore.

I also think in the case of Iyo slowing down in the ring, a lot of her babyface offense is high flying lucha style. Which WWE probably doesn't want her using for a couple of reasons. One is because she's a heel. They let her do her lucha stuff still in NXT and her big heel turn ended up turning her into one of the brand's most popular stars.
The other reason is because a lot of her offense is shared with Rey Mysterio, who is fiercely protective of how his moves are seen. I remember hearing about how he wants to pass the moves down to Dominic when he retires, and doesn't like others doing them in most situations.
They also need to go back to the drawing board with her now, since they made the mistake of having Raquel kick out of both Dakota and Iyo's finishers back to back in the tournament finals. I guess she could bring back her modified Koji Clutch or whatever, but still.

If any act needs to be undefeated, it's them. It's not even about being undefeated for me, I'd just like to see them get the opportunity to show more individual character within the group. The meta is 'Bayley wants to help Iyo/Dakota on the main roster', but it's not necessarily the most compelling character motivation.

I get what they were going with here but the problem was Aliyah sucks and her & Raquel as a team just was thrown together. Maybe should have had Asuka & Bliss win the belts instead.

I think the reign served its purpose. It got Raquel and Aliyah over (despite what the haters say!!) and gave them some credibility (which the division desperately needs).
