They should have me be the replacement opponent for Wardlow. I'll do a 12 hour cram session on Billy Kidman tapes and completely squash him. But Dean Malenko is an AEW agent and he's the only one who could actually powerbomb Kidman!

If this match does go ahead MJF is going to get the mother of all hostile crowds. Mf'ers gonna be jumping the guard rails to take a swing. Which to MJF is exactly what he wants. AEW might be the smarkiest promotion but how much of the crowd is even going to be aware of this situation, especially as nobody involved is doing anything publicly to hype it? If it's a work done to get an exceptionally hostile reaction from a segment of the crowd, that juice was definitely not worth the squeeze. 100% a Russo style decision.

To everyone asking how MJF benefits by working the fans and the office, the answer is really simple. What is everyone focused on right now? Punk/Hangman? BCC/JAS? The Owen? Thunder Rosa/Serena Deeb? Nope. Everyone's talking about MJF, is he going to be there, will the match with Wardlow happen? He's the guy at the center of the PPV hype right now, all because of this. So work or shoot, he still benefits the same way, because his name is one the collective tongue of the entire wrestling world right now. But…not in the way he should be and to the detriment of the show. It’s all bad. People are concerned about how much of the show will be affected and whether Wardlow will get his moment. That’s really not what people should be representing him with right now.

If this is work. Who is getting worked? The fans? not really imo most know MJF shitck and 24/7 heeling. So if fans aren't being worked ala Bryan and his stuck knee. what's the point even more heat for MJF. Again does he need that? No is my answer. Also f***ing people over on a meet and greet as a work would be incredibly stupid imo because now how could you 100% trust a AEW meet and greet if a wrestler/Tony feels like working them and doesn't show up? Not to be malicious, but because they really want the work fans to "help" a storyline (in the workers head). You're just f***ing over people. Internet fans, specifically. Those who are reading the news and Twitter and getting worked up over the 'MJF wants to go to WWE, OMG, he is going to betray AEW, we must boo him totally and not cheer him on the side!' Does he need that? No. Could he and Tony think that's a great idea? Yes. He's young and Tony has a strange sense of 'if I think this is cool, everyone else will!' when it comes to his decisions. Yes, it would be scummy for people who came to see him at the meet and greet not to get him, but there were other people there, right? So it wasn't totally pointless or for nothing. It just feels very 'old fashioned heel move' to me, and then to carry on and have leaks about planes and contracts - it feels like someone thinking this would be something that would keep heat as heat, rather than turn MJF in to smark cheerbait, which could easily happen and clearly isnt what they want. I dunno, maybe I'm working myself, but it just doesnt feel legit to me. There's literally no benefit to work the fans though. Especially since they paid for him specifically to be there and mind you when he's there hes in character. The angle sold itself and its molten hot. Adding this late to the game does nothing to the PPV audience, it only really benefits the live crowd and even then they would've been hot for the match anyway. So I fail to see whats the point.

My Thoughts - If this is not a work and I was TK I'd offer MJF a reasonable deal with a substantial raise (the guy is with it), however, if MJF wants something ridiculous like as much or more than say CM Punk, I'd make him sit out the remainder of his contract at home and might even exercise the extension clause at the end to make him stay longer. From a business POV, I'd make an example of MJF if he tried to screw me before a pivotal PPV so no one else will try the same tactic later. If a shoot, MJ is being extremely unprofessional and should be taught a painful lesson accordingly. pretty much front the Cody situation doesn't seem like he has any issue with people wanting to leave. But what kinda of message leaves if you let a guy f*** you over in such an important star making moment? also either MJF Is being extremely ridiculous about it or we are missing some big info. because if he was offered extension with big money AND MJF isn't against extensions I don't have any dies what he is unhappy about

And again, it’s not WCW 2000 anymore. It’s not TNA 2003 anymore. Nobody cares about working the internet when 99% of the audience is on the internet in some way or another. Who are you working? People who watch AEW and use internet banking?

What if an ominous, last minute stipulation is added like "contract vs. contract"?
Then we know Tony talked MJF off the career cliff to do the right thing [tonight], but will allow him to pursue other interests.

If MJF does no-show, the person I feel for most is Wardlow. This is his big moment.

Yeah, if the big match a fan Wanted to see was Wardlow/MJF and there were rumbles of MJF no showing an event before and him potentially not appearing at the show... that is likely a customer that might decide to skip and not risk it.

And if it's a shoot, then derailing the show might be what he wants. If he's working everyone, he now has more heat than anyone in the business right now. Remember, a lot of the talk about Pillman at the beginning of his shtick was very negative, but it put his name out there. And another thing to remember is that, even though the business has evolved, at heart, every promoter is a carny. Someone will want him.

That wouldn’t be him being unavailable, it would be more ‘creative has nothing for you, we’ll give you a call when we need you.’ I don’t think they could extend the contract for missing a meet and greet, but if they did it would be for, what, three hours he didn’t work lol? Brian Cage says hi

If he lets MJF screw him over here with zero repercussions, it would set a very bad precedent for other talents moving forward.

Is there any defending what Banks and Naomi did? In my opinion, yes. The situations with Banks/Naomi is different as they left before a show after trying to plead their case. They didn't no-show an event fans had specifically paid to see them at. They didn't put WWE in as difficult a position as MJF has with AEW here if he no-shows Double or Nothing, which will also affect Wardlow and possibly Spears too. I strongly disagree. No showing Raw affected all the women they were suppose to compete with that night and going through Hell in a Cell.

TK and MJF are both students of the game and would think that they're doing the Pillman thing without realizing that the only reason the Pillman thing worked was because Pillman literally had zero plan

If you want an example of how “smart” PPV crowds typically are, before the age of social media half the Garden knew at Wrestlemania XX that Lesnar was leaving for the NFL.

Let me just clarify one thing, because I know it seems like I'm doubling down and defending MJF. I am not saying I think what he's doing is a good idea. In fact, I'm in the same camp of many who think this could backfire on him. But I fully believe that HE thinks what he's doing is smart. And TK, if he's now on board with it and giving it his blessing, must be OK with it.
I do feel that this massively f***s Wardlow over, since the attention is no longer on him. Guys like Punk and Hangman should be really pissed off, since this takes attention away from them, as well. But Max believes it benefits him, and since we're all talking about it...
