Niners have to sign an established guy(maybe a couple of them given how things ended). Brady makes the most sense. Super sucks for Purdy though, he's probably going to lose his shot to be the long term guy because of the injury. Hopefully he can come back 100% at least. If it has the same recovery time (if not worse) than a pitcher recovering from Tommy John's surgery, then he's going to be gone at least an entire season if not longer. Hopefully this isn't a career ender. For real. That dude shouldn’t have been back in the game handing off and tossing those couple of short passes honestly. Should have had that thing immobilized completely. |

If it has the same recovery time (if not worse) than a pitcher recovering from Tommy John's surgery, then he's going to be gone at least an entire season if not longer. Should have had that thing immobilized completely. Yeah, like, they should've probably been running wildcat or something with McCaffrey at QB. Then again, he probably would've ended up injured, too. Hopefully dude can come back healthy because he’s been exciting to watch.(Even if he is with the 49ers ) The only other QB to have this specific injury was Nick Mullens, and dude went from bad to terrible after. Coincidence enough, also a Niners QB under Kyle Shanahan when it happened. |

-desperately wanted Ryans but he turned them down
-desperately wanted Harbaugh and met with him twice but he said no
-Paton wanted Quinn but he turned them down
Payton was their last option and they didn’t want him bc of the draft cost and he wanted full control but they had no choice bc they didn’t want any first time HC but Ryans due to fan apathy.
They caved and gave Payton what he wanted. They expect George Paton to be fired soon so Sean can bring his own people in. They expect Jeff Ireland or Ryan Pace to be the GM

Damn dude. Paid a 1st and 2nd when you already paid a king's ransom for Russ for a coach who isn't going to make a difference on this shitshow? The Broncos are going to be terrible for the next 5 years. Should have just taken the Russ trade on the chin, not compounded your problems.

We suck and chances need to be taken. Lock was a lost cause, Fant was in a deep TE room, Harris is good but not irreplaceable, Chubb is a constant injury risk that was gone anyway, and picks are a mystery (though I'd prefer to have them yes). Even in the long run the money to Russ can be offset by converting it to bonuses and raises in the cap. The money to Payton doesn't matter as the ownership group isn't hurting for that. The big hit, to me, is to our image with the joke this search was. All that said, I have more optimism about the coming seasons than I did in the past. We finally have ownership again, a QB I think still has something left (maybe not much but enough), and a coach that knows how to coach. All of that is far more than we've had since before we last won the SB. |

If nothing else, it should be really interesting to see how good of a coach Payton is without a high powered offense and Brees. From what I recall, it didn’t go great last time.
