Most wrestling injuries happen off mundane stuff. The body wears down over time no matter how "safe" your style is. Hell it isn't even just wrestling. As crazy as football can be, some of the worst injuries happen off a guy turning his foot wrong running a route and tearing his ACL. I could be remembering wrong, but I remember some athlete getting hurt because he propped his leg up watching TV and screwed up one of his legs. Orton dislocated his shoulder taking out the trash wrong didn't he? And most recently, Cody tore his pec lifting weights, not wrestling.

The late Brodie Lee blew out his knee just working someone over in the corner in a dark match. Can’t predict when this stuff happens.

Usually, when injuries happen on mundane stuff, it's because a body part was already on the verge of breaking. There're bodybuilders tearing their muscles from flexing. Not from lifting, but flexing. That's not much of a freak accident when the muscle was pre-teared long before that. Same goes for bones, joints, ligaments etc.

Again, this goes into the whole discussion of diversity in AEW. It's all about catering to the 19-40 white straight male demo. They literally had a former employee state she'd like to see more diversity for her daughter to have somebody to relate to and what happens? The President/CEO publicly buries her for having the audacity to criticize the company. I believe a large majority of fans and even some wrestlers had no idea what Big Swole actually said for Tony Khan to go nuts on her like that.
There's so many problems with the booking of LGBT+, POC and female talent in AEW. It's not getting any better and what they have done with Sonny is beyond a joke. There's so many talented wrestlers getting wasted while the same names keep appearing on Dynamite and Rampage over and over.

There's so many talented wrestlers getting wasted while the same names keep appearing on Dynamite and Rampage over and over. Swole said a bit more than that for Tony to respond, but newz sites also peddled it and tried to make it worse than it was, and they're to blame as well. I'm tired of the argument as a whole, but I will say the female talent booking is getting better, it could still GET more better, but it's getting much better with featuring talents that aren't Britt Baker in top positions, hell Baker's been off TV for a few weeks now. LGBTQ talent do have spots within the company, hell Mercedes is a champion they really like, and put in a main event spot, POC talent are being featured way more on AEW cards, the debate about them getting more to main event matches is still there, but I can't look and say it isn't any better than it was a year ago, a lot of great POC talent are essentially all over the cards, Scorpio's a two time TNT Champion, Jade is an undefeated powerhouse in the women's division with her own POC group, Keith Lee/Swerve and Team Taz are big fixtures in the tag division and in Keith/Swerves case may be well beyond very soon. Does Sonny Kiss deserve a spot somewhere? I absolutely agree on that, but I also think saying the same names appear over and over isn't true, a lot of talent gets featured on both shows, it's just unfortunate when some due to the large roster get stuck on DARK, and this has been I assume Sonny's big issue. It used to be that they were splitting time with AEW and their college classes, but I assume that's over with now. I wish they'd let them team with Dustin again, that was a very early tag team they experimented with on DARK, and it was FUN, at this point I really hope Sonny is the new Baddie, because it'd certainly give them a much needed jolt and direction.

The real Forbidden Door is the one that goes from Dark to Dynamite.
And I say that when Dark is my favourite shows. But there's a ton of super-over talent that is stuck there, and one of the side effects of TKs shopping sprees is they've filled up that upper-midcard, and that means that acts that should have advanced up the card by now haven't because there is no room. It doesn't help that TK has signed people that do not really offer anything he didn't already have. Tony Nese? KOR and Fish? Lethal? Guys like Swerve, Keith Lee, Claudio, sure because they offer something different than "good wrestle mans"

Apologies for derailing the Sonny conversation (I love Sonny btw, more TV for Sonny would make me watch!) but this “minor things cause major injuries” has brought up one of my absolute biggest pet peeves about this board and I have to get it out: Can we please stop making fun of Kevin Nash for blowing out his quad 20 years ago now?? Quoting a terrible book like “The Death of WCW” to mock a guy for decades at this point is gross.

At this point Sonny should go to WWE, be misused, and then come back and be signed to a big money contract since he'd be an ex-WWE guy and be featured on TV as much as Bobby Fish was that no one wanted or asked for.

I wouldve booked Sonny to be in the whole Gunn Club/Acclaimed feud(an undercard feud but still gives you tv time).

Sonnys mom says the network executives love Sonny. Its someone in the upper management at AEW that she has issues with. So who really knows what's going on

Because they’re trans? I really don’t see much upside to investing money in Sonny, who seems like a very nice person, other then being able to hook up a neon light and say “HEY WE’RE PUSHING A TRANS WRESTLER, ISN’T THAT COOL?” I mean, if you wanna push a trans wrestler that’s fine and dandy, but Nyla’s right there and infinitely more talented in my opinion. Sonny just kinda exists, I don’t think they’re terrible but I also don’t think they’re particularly stand out. Nobody is saying that at all. Way to miss the point. Sonny is over on Dark and is busting her ass on the indies, with all the injuries why not give her a shot?

Bobby was part of a very over group, and still is part of a very over group, and has had really great matches since coming in, I think it's a bit disingenuous to say no one wanted Bobby Fish, dude's also had some hilarious comedy chops during matches and promos. I'm just tired of people doing "Oh they use THIS GUY who everyone OBVIOUSLY hates but they don't use THIS GUY who everyone obviously likes", like fair enough if you don't like the guy but one doesn't have to do with the other And I'm so tired of the "Ex WWE Guy!" argument too, you don't get a push in AEW because you're an "Ex WWE Guy", a lot of those guys are just, yknow, really good at this wrestling thing and were well before WWE too, and it's such a disservice to say that's the reason they get a push. Scorpio's a two time TNT Champion and the most he did in WWE was be in therapy sessions with Daniel Bryan and Kane. Wardlow did literally nothing in WWE, same with Hangman, or Eddie Kingston, Sammy Guevara, Lucha Bros, Thunder Rosa, etc. Not even factoring in all the WWE Released talent they y'know... never signed. Of course WWE gives you a signal boost as a wrestler, but when you've been the monopoly of wrestling sucking up talent like a vacuum for 20 years, a lot of guys and girls are gonna spend time there, but it don't mean shit if you're just a good wrestler, and it certainly don't mean shit to Sonny Kiss getting time more or not, by the sounds of things, this may be one executive's issue with them, and who knows what that even is... especially if the higher ups like them and wanted to use them in a commercial.

People aren't saying "push Sonny because she's trans" and I'm not sure you read like any of the thread if that's your takeaway.

Anyway I think it’s disingenuous to say people only want to see her pushed because of identity when Sonny has shown both on Dark and on the indies over the last little while that she has grown into a good wrestler. She also has a ton of charisma, a great look, and infectious energy. Plenty of people want to see Sonny Kiss because they enjoy watching Sonny Kiss

He just planted wrong, I ain't gonna laugh at him for that. Triple H tore his quad hitting Jericho from behind, he just planted wrong. He tore his quad again hitting the spinebuster, a move he hit hundreds of times.
