I worry about making this thread, but going back to the jobber thread, I just have to make it, and if the mods want to delete this, they can.
Not everyone is capable of making it to the top, and anything can still change, but is there anyone that you've just accepted that they won't win titles or even be treated seriously in AEW?

Not quite the same thing but I've pretty much taken it as a granted that Malakai's never going to be entertaining again.

John Silver, which is one that makes me sad. He's actively less interesting and fun if he's not budging from his spot on the card.

Yeah, it's been pretty abundantly clear for at least a year that the Dark Order is a complete dead-end career-wise. No one's ever getting anywhere so long as they're associated with it.

On the topic of DO, anytime they come up or appear now I think “Dark order is dead”. So, yeah.
Andrade. Pillman Jr. That’s on them though.
Ethan Page and Dante Martin are getting close too.

Like, 90% of their women's roster. Emi, Stratlander, Riho, Diamante, Nyla Rose, Kiera Hogan, Abadon, Red Velvet, Layla Hirsch... Best Friends and the Dark Order, as have already been mentioned, which is just perplexing. If they don't know how to book Orange, I really hope he changes his gimmick, because he is killing it in the ring match after match and I want to see him keep mixing it up with top guys. Stu was the best of the Dark Order, but the remaining ones aren't slouches, and only Uno and 10 would be hard to move on from the gimmick (and they're a decent tag team). Just unnecessary. Angelico Poor guy never got a chance.

On the topic of DO, anytime they come up or appear now I think “Dark order is dead”. So, yeah. Once Cabana suddenly stopped showing up with them, along with Grayson's and Angel's contracts expiring and Anna defecting to the JAS, I felt the DO's fate was sealed. Can't really see them winning titles now unless it's Silver, perhaps.

Hard for me to say because the company is so young and there’s still good possibilities for many of the talent.
But I am a bit concerned about Private Party’s trajectory. I don’t think they’re doomed but with SwerveGlory, FTR and the Bucks taking up so much oxygen in the tag team room and the AFO becoming a JTTS Team Rocket faction, they’ve had better periods.

Yeah... I think Dark Order post Brodie has basically been treading water, Best Friends seem to have hit their ceiling as well... (which sucks cause I've been a Chuck Taylor fan forever.)
I think Ruby is close... you can't cut that "I'm a loser" promo at the Hart Tournament... and hten lose... and not change anything... and she's still exactly the same, there was more ammunition for her to turn heel than Anna Jay...

Honestly the Dark Order needs a clean break. Uno is mostly around at this point to run their gaming channel and stuff like that.
Best Friends and OC I'm reluctant to give up on with the Trios titles but it's a close thing. Really should have received a tag title run at some point after they played a decent part in making the early times of the pandemic era entertaining. The Miro stuff and the street fight with P&P were classics.
Nyla at this point is in the Big Show role it feels like. Monster meant to be beaten. Nothing more. I do think turning her face would be a huge boost in her presentation.

Oh this one is gonna be painful...
Dark Order, as mentioned. As much as I loved their ten man with Chaotic Gunn Project in Boston, that match also proved to be their ceiling as a unit. Silver COULD do great things, but as long as he's still attached to the group, we won't see it.
Brian Cage, and this extends to ROH. Dude is going to be a very successful component of The Embassy, but as an entity on his own, the ship has long sailed.
Best Friends. They are never going to rise above the level of popular midcard act that wins feuds, only to lose to more popular acts. The time to do it was late 2020, when they had the momentum from feuding with The Inner Circle, but with how often Trent is injured, I feel like Tony's gotten cold feet about doing anything serious with them.
Private Party, they had a big win over the Young Bucks on the second-ever Dynamite, were still one of the top face teams at the end of 2019, beginning of 2020. But by the end of the year, they were attached to the HFO and it was all downhill from there. I'm fine with the idea of a large stable of guys who are there to job, but make it guys who are clearly never going to be main eventers. Quen and Kassidy could've been huge, but being associated with Big Money Matt killed all their credibility.
Archer, sadly, seems to be in the same boat as Best Friends, where he's over and a good midcard hand, but he's never going to be headlining PPVs. And again, I feel it's due to injuries, as well as his age.
Miro. Man, THAT one hurts to say. But outside of the TNT Title run, dude has been criminally misused in AEW. And feuding with House of Black (...I think??) doesn't give me comfort that his fortunes are on the upswing.
Penta Oscuro. Hear me out. Lucha Bros already reached the top of the mountain, but their reign was the wonkiest Tag Title reign in the company's history thus far. Losing the AAA Tag Titles to FTR, while still being AEW Champs, then the out of nowhere loss to Jungle Express. And while you can blame injuries here, Penta has been the healthiest of Death Triangle and there have been brief periods of singles success, but I don't see him getting the push he deserves in AEW. Dude could easily be World Champion in any other company, but in AEW, he's going to be part of an endless run of matches with his brother against The Bucks, House of Black and Ingobernables. And hey, the matches are bangers, but this guy was THE GUY for Lucha Underground's whole run. He shouldn't be relegated to the tag/trios division.

Quen and Kassidy could've been huge, but being associated with Big Money Matt killed all their credibility. Private Party would benefit from going to Impact. More teams in that company wouldn't hurt. They're still young, and they'd eventually be back in AEW (or later going to WWE with a better chance of succeeding in a post-Vince era) better than ever.

It's kind of a cop out but honestly we have no clue how things are going to change and react.
I'll give an example. At the beginning of 2021, The Varsity Blondes looked like an up and coming team. They had a very good match against the Bucks for the titles where many thought they'd be big time players quick. But they then decided to give Pillman a chance to shine in singles matches that he was nowhere near ready for, he seemed to lose confidence and the Blondes are now geeks to the point where many would answer them to this poll. You can also add Anthony Ogogo to the list of guys AEW tried to push early and for various reasons (rawness, injuries, him just being a knob) that may be off the cards as well.
Aside from examples like that and guys who are there for backstage roles like Shawn Dean, Chaos Project, QT, and Aaron Solow? Dark Order is an easy answer (though Uno is there for backstage stuff as well). But I'd also throw Sonny Kiss and Kip Sabian in. There are people I'd consider throwing into that, but are featured enough to where it's hard to say for sure... plus remember the Lucha Bros were treading water forever before they won the tag titles, same with Jurassic Express, and Darby as TNT champ. Since Tony tends to book AEW in quarters it's tough to really say for many.
Though thinking about it, I do kind of think Sammy being viewed as a pillar anymore may have gone way to the backburner because of how much of a dud his feud with Scorp was. Still absolutely has a place but I think the reaction made him as anything more than the heater for JAS difficult

Sonny Kiss. And it’s a damn travesty, too. His misuse is honestly my single biggest criticism of AEW.

I have hope Best Friends catch fire and are the inaugural Trios Champions cause it’d make a great feel good story, but I guess it depends on if the crowd is with them or not. On the subject of Sammy..man. He went from someone I thought had it all and the perfect trajectory to..I don’t even know. He’s fine, making bank, would get renewed or picked up by WWE in a second but.. I thought he could be great. Now? He could end up just alright.

I think the whole pillar thing was overstated by MJF to begin with. And it didn't really help anyone he named either.

Just so, so, so, so many.
And that's all I'll say without going on a TK mini-rant. I hope I'm proven wrong.
