I think both Ruby and Kiss are going to be okay.
Ruby is on TV a lot despite getting her arse kicked but with TV time for the women's division being like a Willy Wonka golden ticket her being on week after week and not disappearing back into YouTube purgatory bodes well.
Kiss, I'm getting vibes of how everyone despaired of Dean Ambrose ever getting called up after they bottled the Foley feud and how we were just waiting for his release and then boom out of nowhere he debuts on tv in one of the biggest angles for ages. Maybe the pride videos were more than a bit of PR but also a preview of an upcoming angle or dynamite run for Kiss.
Could be wrong but I don't think two wrestlers who bring such unique looks to the table are going to disappear.
People I do think are toast:
Private Party, too many teams ahead of them, will do okay in nxt. Andrade, counting down the days until he rejoins Charlotte. Pillman Jr, from his face he knows it. Abadon, gimmick doesn't fit Khans vision. Shida, unhappy and can find good work back home or elsewhere.
Miro I'm on the fence about, he's a bit like mid 90s Undertaker where he is over and they want to push him but they have no one really to match him with. He needs a Mankind badly.

The more WWE stars with big followings arrive in AEW the more homegrown talent will be screwed.

Angelico's my biggest one. Even with the new theme and all, I really don't think they see anything in him because he hasn't been on the main shows, which is insane because the guy has the talent and the look to be a huge star.

Pac is another guy I was really hoping would have a bigger impact as a bitter lone wolf bastard...Not to say it's been horrible or anything but I just feel like he could have been a full time main event player by now.

I think Pac could've been World Champ by now if he didn't get completely screwed over by the pandemic travel restrictions.

Putting Starks and Hobbs on there after last week is certainly a choice. I know it is but I'm still bitter about the Allin disaster and also worried about how they will present their feud. If it's prominent on Dynamite, cool but if it's off and on for weeks I'm not going to be happy.

Most people I have given up on then doing anything I got a little of fresh hope with the trios title.
I know i'm probably setting myself up for disappointment thinking the DO or The Best Friends can win anything ,this is likely my last hope on it.

Everyone who told me “wait and see” when I bitterly complained about Penta losing to Cody in 10 seconds after the armbreaker spot owes me an apology. That was the moment I knew Penta would be good but never be seen as great within the company.
You know what add all of Death Triangle. Rey Fenix should’ve been their lucha ace from jump while PAC should’ve been the King of the Cruiserweights on a bigger stage and they’ve bungled it. Even with a title PAC feels less than he did at the start and Lucha Bros arguably have one of the worst title runs.
Ruby is still my girl but wow they love to shit on her. I’m hoping against hope that she gets her moment against TayJay soon.
Dark Order had a BTE segment that looks like they may do something with them for Trios but it might be too little, too late. At least Uno is set working with their Games channel.
Joshis. I genuinely think Tony doesn’t get them and therefore doesn’t book them as much. Blows my mind but is what it is.
Nyla. Token monster all new champs beat, so she constantly loses her luster. I’m not even a fan of hers and it’s still sad to see.
Butcher and Blade should go to Impact and be the new hoss team. Gallows and Anderson left, so why not? They won’t get much shine in AEW.
Remember last year when people loved Fuego Del Sol? That was fun. Wonder where he is now.
It feels like TK doesn’t see the appeal of Kris Statlander and I hope she goes to be a huge star elsewhere and shoved it in his face.
If this Miro/Malakai feud doesn’t turn out some genuine bangers then yeah Malakai’s washed and arguably Miro as well. Both men had huge momentum this time last year and now it’s just… eh

I'm seeing names listed of people who've had title reigns/ been featured in big matches for championships pretty recently. They might not currently be where you think they should, but to say they won't achieve ANYTHING in AEW is odd. Folks I legit expect nothing out of: Aaron Solo JD Vance/Peter Avalon and Cesar Bononi probably won't achieve much more than they currently have Ryan Nemeth probably has the biggest upside out of that group Butcher and Blade are pretty much designated jobbers despite having 2 of the coolest looks in AEW I'll be shocked if we ever see Leva Bates in a televised match again But the thread is about people you expected to do something. Did you really think any of the Wingmen were gonna do anything substantial? Did you honestly think like "man, Cesar Bononi is gonna change the landscape around here!"? If not for knocking it out of the park on BTE they'd be persona non grata. I mean Ryan is the King of Dark, so he has that. Hell Ryan is a perfect example of a talent going above and beyond, being more creative than his boss, but not getting to do anything of real worth with it. You see the same names popping up over, and over for a reason. They were all expected to do something more, or came in with hype, that TK masterfully snuffs out or doesn't capitalize on to the point killing momentum is his unfortunate M.O. TK is to squashing momentum like Vince was to NXT call-ups. He doesn't understand what he has, doesn't know how to use most of them, and unless you're a favorite (which usually means getting creepy looking "I NEED AN ADULT!" hugs from him on a media scrum) you're out of luck. Hell even his favorites twist in the wind a lot of the time. Being featured in big matches for championships is meaningless if there's no decent build, follow through, or plan on the talent in question. To me this is straight up Asuka-syndrome, where it's like "but lookit all these accolades!" when in fact non of that matters because the booking is garbage.

I thought after that kickass Pac vs Andrade match on Rampage a while back that they would both skyrocket to the main event scene. Since then, what have they really done? Which is a shame, I believe they are both world title scene caliber talent.

I know she took getting fired from WWE very hard (a perfectly legit reaction, of course) but unless Tony does something with her fast, I could see the lure of Liv’s success in the last year and the ascension of Papa H bringing her back to WWE when her AEW contract’s up. She signed for 5 years. Also she had more televised matches this last year than her last 2 years in WWE combined That’s not even accurate. Ruby was injured from like May 2019 to February 2020. She had 34 televised matches when she returned between March 2020 and May 2021. She’s been in AEW since September 2021 and has had 18 televised matches. So in 14 months in WWE she had 34 televised matches. In 11 months in AEW, 18 televised matches.

His Twitter bio still says he's an AEW wrestler and he worked Dark two weeks ago.

The more WWE stars with big followings arrive in AEW the more homegrown talent will be screwed. Oh well. If the idea of a big time wrestling promotion is to have the best wrestlers on it, I really dont' care where they came from. If the homegrown talent is really as talented as they are, they'll start to eclipse the other former WWE stars. And if Khan doesn't realize it and neglects to push them, well, he'd be pretty stupid to not see what doomed WCW in the end.

I didn't watch the match because I just turned over to play a game until it was over, so I don't know how well he did or didn't do, but Ogogo seemed like a case of thinking if he could 'get it' he'd be a big star and then he just kinda underperformed. It's good to have connections to wrestling schools and shit, but it's probably better if they can emphasize working on taking people who've gotten their fundamentals down on the indies and making projects of them. Ogogo doesn't really stand out as seeming like a 'the future' kind of guy next to the up-and-comers AEW actually has, and I think the fact he's vanished feels like there's a chance AEW has realized the same thing.
