I like 7, but I get why people have a problem with the cutscenes. Surprised you wouldn't put 6 beneath it, though, given you get cutscenes about the flattest goddamn characters ever. Lysandre is probably the shittiest villain in the entire franchise in terms of "oooh, I was secretly evil but dress exactly like Team Flare. I have a noble goal in my own mind, but charge people enormous amounts of money to join. I have literally no idea what point Game Freak were trying to make here." Dancing kid, Dex kid, etc, are so flat I remember none of their names. At least Hau, Lillie, and Gladion left enough of an impression for me to remember any of them past shutting the 3DS off. At gunpoint, I could not name a single "friend" X/Y gives you. Gen 6 definitely has issues like that but I think it's counterbalanced by having more things I like than Gen 7 does. It is pretty far from the best, and Lysandre is definitely the shittiest main villain other than maybe Rose (who just turns heel in the last 20 minutes of the game entirely because he can't wait a single day to address a problem that won't actually arise for a thousand years) while Diantha is probably the shittiest champion, but I think X & Y at least feels less meandering in its pacing, I prefer the bigger Pokemon selection (to say nothing of SM being the start of the weird everything has a 1% encounter rate fetish they've done in every game since), and I think its unique quirks like Mega Evolution and hoard battles are better than Sun & Moon's equivalents. That said I'd still probably put Gen 6 as the second worst. Though really in general I kind of think Pokemon games should just stop when it comes to trying to have involved narratives. About the only time they've ever even kinda pulled it off is Black & White 1 and in general they seem to be operating under the delusion that good writing is when you give someone a single character trait and then repeat it in every single line of dialogue for hours on end. Rose isn't exactly evil, just a Coalossal f***ing dumbass. Though in terms of the discussion, the rival in DPPtBDSP is a f***ing idiot and with the lone exception of when he becomes the goddamned Sinnoh Cavalry against Galactic, I want to YEET my Switch whenever his ass shows up. He's part of the reason Galactic is a step ahead of me in the first place because he stalls me out for a pointless battle.

This would instantly cause several weird things about this game to suddenly make sense. Yosuke's forced bro-ness would be revealed as him wanting to get close to guys but having learned no way of interacting with them other than perving about girls. Kanji's whole thing could actually get redeemed; metaphorical gayness is much easier to swallow if it exists alongside actual gayness, and you can even pay off his newly mature masculinity by having him be accepting of his friend's queerness. Naoto's bizarre gender nonsense... well, okay, that probably couldn't tie in and it would still be embarrassing, but we can't have everything. I am not big on schadenfreude typically but I definitely want Persona 6 to have queerness in it both for its own sake and also because it'll wreck so many awful internet people. It's not like Jung was hostile to the idea of homosexuality (y'know, as these things go). As a lot of Japan's younger generation is way more cool with queer people than older generations, I'd almost be surprised if Persona 6 didn't have queer people in it. You can make a case that a good chunk of the P5 cast is queer-coded even if it isn't explicitly stated (not just gay/bi; I get some ace vibes from Futaba and Yusuke personally). P4, too, on that note. Heck, Persona 3 Portable already broke that barrier as the female protagonist could have relationships with Aigis and Elizabeth (and Hoshino wasn't directly involved in that one. Shocker, I know).
If the traditionally "family friendly" Nintendo can have queer characters, including the main protagonists, in their last couple of Fire Emblem games, Atlus can follow suit.
Yeh Japan has two extremer, the very conservative and the youth movement. But I would say Kanji still left a very important message that would be completely lost if it turned out he was gay, that yeh it doesnt matter what you like, you can consider yourself a man and like things typically seem as girly. Maybe because it spoke to me on a personal level at the time " Still the fact you can have same-sex relationship with any character in Persona 5 is ridiculous.

Well, while I still really didn't care for her, they did a good enough job trying and you do feel some sympathy for her Problem is, you can't introduce her to us doing what she did and then expect the gamers to feel really sorry for her. If she didn't have that baggage over her head she would be received better

But I would say Kanji still left a very important message that would be completely lost if it turned out he was gay, that yeh it doesnt matter what you like, you can consider yourself a man and like things typically seem as girly. Maybe because it spoke to me on a personal level at the time " Well first, it doesn't completely wreck the point, because if masculinity can be extended to include liking sewing, then it can also be expanded to include liking cock. But I'm with you in terms of making the whole thing more cluttered and unfocused. But they did that to themselves. They botch the metaphor themselves by having his shadow be explicitly, unmistakably gay. Not girly, not feminine, not womanish, GAY. (And played for laughs.) And they also have him openly attracted to a man, but then it turns out that was a woman all along so he's never been attracted to a man!, which is absolutely not how that works and is very stupid. It's a very, very strange choice, and I definitely understand people coming to the conclusion that someone involved with writing it has some very unfortunate attitudes. They're completely distracted by gayness and keep bringing it up, but then they don't actually have a gay character who gets validated.

What, you think you're too good to name yourself similarly to the others?

I've been busy for the past few weeks, but here are my few choices:
Jane (Walking dead season 2): She was just F'n annoying as hell and everything about her was just bad. Oh, and her badmouthing my fave, Sarah put her on my shiznizzle list (ironically, the fans had the opposite viewpoint as me, but that's another story for another day). At least you get the choice of killing her in the end.
K999 (The King Of fighters): This is a former example, but still needs to be mentioned. He was pretty much A transparent carbon-copy of Tetsuo from AKIRA but lacking what made Tetsuo sympathetic did not endear me to this guy. That being said, when he returned in KOF XV as Khronen, he won me over. It helps that they changed his design, tweaked his moves and made his personality more better.
Magaki (The King Of Fighters): This guy's "true form" was the only thing about him that looked good. I hated fighting him (it felt like a bad copy of the Touhou fighting game spin-offs), one-dimensional personality and unlike most SNK Bosses (such as Rugal, Igniz, Goenitz, Geese, etc.) lacked any kind of charisma.
X's Portrayal in MegaMan X7 (my most hated Megaman game unless you count the DOS games or XOver) was very upsetting for me. Sounding like a 30-year old emo in the English dub was bad enough already, but making him everything his detractors said he was just face-palm inducing (especially when at the end of X6, it looked like X was becoming more bolder with how he deals with his inner conflicts), as well as acting like an ungrateful jerk to Axl in the end. Good thing MMX8 restored him to his rightful self.
The Watatsuki Sisters in Touhou, for the longest time, I despised. I stopped hating them just a few years ago, but in the past, I would have considered them awful "Mary Sues" and the only characters in a series where I liked EVERY Character to be the ones who sucked. I guess I blame the bad writing in the manga they debuted in (Silent Sinner In Blue) and fanon interpretations of them (such as the awful fan-series KKHTA) for my former dislike of them.
Others that I'd mention include: D'Vorah (Mortal Kombat), Tre & RED (WWE 2K20), Navi (Legend Of Zelda) & Necalli (Street Fighter)

I like to pretend MegaMan X7 didn't exist. That was the worst game in the entire franchise. Hell, even Mighty No. 9 was better and that game made me cry like an anime fan on prom night.

Herbert Moon in Red Dead Redemption. His anti-Semitism was historically accurate given the setting, but every interaction with him ranting about Jews got old fast. “i’M hErBeRt MoOoOoN!”

If she didn't have that baggage over her head she would be received better The weird thing about this is that I did not mind playing as her. I can agree with your statement about her introduction, but then when it got to the portion of playing as her (and I already knew ahead of time about that), I was more or less fine with playing as her as I wanted to see her side of the story. I think what would have been better is if you could select a part playing as Ellie or as Abby, or if Abby was DLC (but it would be clear that no one would buy it). But overall, I was fine with playing as her for that part of the game. That's just me, though.

I said before if anything they probably should have MGS2’d us and had us play as her for w little and then we get to current time and Ellie and everything that went down. Abby was fun to play as, she had the weapons and obviously stupid brolic and can take on anyone. I still think they probably should given us a choice of how we wanted to end the game with probably 70% of players still would have killed Abby I believe. I don’t mind her as a player and they put her through hell at the end but the way they started her off, a lot of people aren’t really going to forgive her even after all the stuff she went through. Tho it doesn’t help Ellie is basically unlikeable in the game as well With all that said, I wouldn’t mind some type of spinoff or DLC with her.

No one has done more of a 180 for me than Kratos.
I legit despised him by the time GOW 3 came out. He was just such a shit person that I didn't like him at all, but in GOW4 he was my main man again.
