I made that same mistake and was waiting for someone to bring it up lol. I know. The consensus is out in the open about Cornette but .. Damn if that wasn’t one of the saddest things I’ve ever listened to. Hinging so desperately on the anti-elite sentiment even when you can hear it in his voice that he doesn’t even fully buy his own crock of shit. Just sad. When it comes to Cornette, I don't know what the worst thing about him is: a) the fact he's a blatant racist sexist bigot who hates the Bucks and Omega for profoundly ridiculous reasons, or b) the fact that so many people consider him gospel simply because he hates the Bucks and Omega so much, and even defend and excuse him when he's been blatantly racist and sexist. |

I follow a Youtube channel that does long-form retrospectives on MMA and just rewatched his Punk video from a few months ago on a whim, and I'm kind of startled by the contrast. People really thought he'd matured given how he handled his MMA failures, and seeing him overcome with emotion but holding himself together definitely gives that impression. Dude handled failing at MMA better than he handled succeeding in wrestling, and now I wonder if maybe what we saw wasn't him being mature, but in a brutal ego check that kept him beaten down. Some people are at their worst when they're winning.
