I was like "OH IT'S UNFORGIVEN 2006" but checking it's actually Unforgiven 2005 - Calling by Taproot I've forgotten all the math I learned in school but I remember Ruthless Aggression PPV themes Incredible/awful choice for a PPV theme given that it made every feud sound like a sad domestic dispute. I follow a Youtube channel that does long-form retrospectives on MMA and just rewatched his Punk video from a few months ago on a whim, and I'm kind of startled by the contrast. People really thought he'd matured given how he handled his MMA failures, and seeing him overcome with emotion but holding himself together definitely gives that impression. Dude handled failing at MMA better than he handled succeeding in wrestling, and now I wonder if maybe what we saw wasn't him being mature, but in a brutal ego check that kept him beaten down. Some people are at their worst when they're winning. Napleon Blownapart is top tier content. Its a shame youtube keeps ****ing him |

It's tragic to see him dicked around like this because I've seen people give up on Youtube for a lot less who didn't have half the overall talent for this that Napoleon Blownapart has. |

Mid '00s PPV themes were so wild because WWE was desperately trying to keep the spirit of rock alive in like the worst possible way. They used a song off of Godmsack's fourth album in 2006. Godsmack in 2006! The only people who gave a shit about Godsmack in 2006 were mid-life crisis dudes who catcalled teenagers from the motorcycles they hung out on top of in convenience store parking lots, and one or two WWE employees who clearly had way too little job oversight to be stopped. Their fourth album had Voodoo Too. A sequel to Voodoo. I know I've complained about Voodoo Too on the AEW board before but I refuse to let them get away with the fact they made a sequel to Voodoo. Only WWE thought "we should reward this behavior". I think the absolute nadir of this, though it was done with presumably good intentions, was using Here Without You by 3 Doors Down for an Eddie Guerrero memorial tribute video. It's like WWE saw the title, saw it was a relatively contemporary rock band was like "yo this is perfect." *Eddie doing Eddie things* AH THINK ABOUT YOU BABY AND AH DREAM ABOUT YOU ALLLLL THE TIME And that was the second option. They used Hurt by Johnny Cash on the Raw after he passed. *Eddie doing Eddie things* I will let you down. I will make you hurt. |

Shit, I think I remember them using Rush's cover of Summertime Blues for SummerSlam '04, which is at least a pretty solid cover.
Then they got to Survivor Series and used that weird "Ugly" song and I wonder if it's a coincidence that two months later I stopped watching WWE pretty much permanently.
