Hottest Take: the only non-WWF produced theme for Wrestlemania worth a damn was Phil Collins' Easy Lover.
The Sex Jazz music from the early shows and the Jim Johnson "Showcase of the Immortals" theme from WMs VI-IX obviously have their own spots in the pantheon.

"scrum" is a funny word. That's all. I am in IT, it is a common term for Agile development and short 15 minute meeting on what the team is doing. Never really heard this term outside of that until AEW. Programmer joke, they should start calling these Waterfall meetings.

I always thought it was weird WM21 and 22 each had a theme called Big Time Hot take: The WM21 one by The Soundtrack Of Our Lives is better than the more famous Peter Gabriel one. I think the Soundtrack Of Our Lives one is more exciting and better fit for the post WM music video they were doing at the time (the WM21 music video got me SUPER HYPE and a lot of that is from the song) while Peter Gabriel's is a better fit for a match card rundown. (this has been Chiral being incredibly dorky about ancillary wrestling content)

I stand by Peter gabriel needing to make all wrestlemania soundtracks kinda strange they didn’t use sledgehammer yet considering…. Well… Reminds me of back during the wrestlecrap days of FAN where someone said the TNA ppv Genesis should use a song from the band Genesis. And then someone suggested Land of Confusion.

Coming from a rugby-playing country I didn't know it had any meaning outside the two forms of that game.

The new episode of Botchamania is a cornucopia of top notch Punk/Scrum content. HIIIIIGHLY recommended (and a fantastic parallel experience to this thread IMO) youtu.be/X78u8sbuAUg

The fact that Mudvayne had a "we're just dudes makin music" era after CHUGG GRUGG SPUG AND PLUGG THE OUTER SPACE SERIAL KILLERS still gets me They were a band looking for a gimmick. Greater musicians than you would think, but just couldn't reach the Slipknot levels of success they were after. Also, whoever reminded me that Taproot was a band that existed... you've made an enemy this day. That first Taproot album is f***ing great

Shit, I think I remember them using Rush's cover of Summertime Blues for SummerSlam '04, which is at least a pretty solid cover. Then they got to Survivor Series and used that weird "Ugly" song and I wonder if it's a coincidence that two months later I stopped watching WWE pretty much permanently. In retrospect I think a big reason WWE lost so many fans in the 2000s wasn't just Austin and The Rock leaving, it was that they kept to musical and visual aesthetics that were rapidly becoming painfully dated. I mean nu metal was basically dead by 2003 at the latest but they were still trotting that shit out as late as like 2009 or 2010. It's like Vince was being dragged kicking and screaming into the new millennium and he hated every moment of it (probably still does).

No hyperbole. full stop. It makes a goddamn Limp Bizkit song tolerable

That first Taproot album is f***ing great I actually think Blue-Sky Research was a really phenomenal album, but it came out in 2005, long after nu metal had been flogged out of mainstream society. The album itself is a departure from the nu metal, but they were probably still seen as part of that fad.
