Actually, focusing on the good here, this is at least a sign that Wrestling is maturing just a bit.

If this had been done in the territory days, there's a good chance CM Punk ends up in an emergency room if not worse. I actually was thinking this the other day...Punk has certainly revealed himself to be, probably, the single most toxic locker room presence in modern wrestling. The fact that he is, apparently, trying to justify being the obvious aggressor by saying that he was, essentially, preemptively defending himself only reaffirmed what a dick he is. 

But, like, the worst injury anyone got from this was a chair to the eye. In the 90s, we probably would have gotten an Arn, Sid, scissors story coming out of this. And, like you said, in the territory days? Yeesh...
