Not mentioning The Elite makes sense; the big thing with this investigation is still that, for as long as it's actually going on, there needs to be an approach to this that makes it clear there's no favoritism or effort to have the issue feel 'settled' in any way. If they're not mentioning Punk but start bringing up The Elite, that looks a certain way. It's not a great way. Everyone needs to be equally suspended until the matter is settled or any individual person is cleared of any wrongdoing, like the backstage folk who were present for the brawl. Lawsuits can obviously draw this out over potentially longer, but I think once the investigation is done and final punishments are laid down, people can be spoken of or not as needed.
Definitely feels very much like a 'Punk is out of here but The Elite are unpersoned out of even-handedness' situation right now though.

Dude rly said he was gonna change the culture by dicking around on WWE Backstage And then pitched a fit over Miz making a stupid joke about it. I have been mostly neutral in this entire 500 page thread and was a fan of him, but how can you really defend someone doing that. It reminded me of when Paul Heyman would pick fights on live TV with TNN during their first month of existence on the channel. Like why would you do that? No other network is going to trust you after that, and any sponsor or business partner would likely be afraid of you doing the same to them. If you have a problem with your business partner, call a meeting in private and hash it out. Live television is not a place to vent your workplace grievances. with Heyman it was also bullshit. Since TNN did things like sent them state of the art equipment and a crew to help tape the show... but Paul refused to use them. Yeah, Heyman fought TNN every step of the way. He never wanted to play ball. He's a great on screen talent, a good dude to have in creative, but keep him far away from business decisions or the network. |

The Bucks have mostly been promoting their shoes with AEW talent. Kenny's just vibing in Japan. Ian not mentioning Punk's ROH reign was definitely something. Even if the reign itself was basically a thank you reign before he dropped it to Jamie Noble (seriously) on his way to WWE. I think you mean he dropped it to James "BY GAWD" Gibson. Seriously, I remember watching that match rooting so hard for Daniels but Gibson's promo in the build was absolute f***ing fire. Also would say I don't think Punk's reign was a thank you reign. Gibson's certainly felt that way but Punk's was one of the biggest indie storylines of all time. |

Yeah, the number of AEW wrestlers shilling their shoes on Instagram is pretty telling, I think. If they were completely persona non grata like Punk appears to be, I doubt the advertising would be as blatant. |

They really wanted him when they first started and apparently wanted to make him the centerpiece and build the company around him like Jericho and… well like they did this past year.
I wonder how that would have turned out considering the harmonious vibe of the first year or two when it was “all friends wrestling” and guys just “making a wrestling company made of wrestlers for wrestlers”. Would he be as toxic as he ended up this year? Would he be chiller working from the ground up? Would he have blown up the company before it got off the ground ?

Buying out his contract and cutting him loose to avoid any further headaches is probably the best option. If Punk signed say a 3 year deal then buying him out of the final 2 years would cost millions which yeah for the average person sounds like a lot but is pocket change for TK and his dad. |

That's an interesting thought experiment. I think he might have been chiller. When AEW started, it was really just Jericho that had the big name and international recognition but by the time Punk joined, they had Mox, Danielson wasn't far behind, and some of the AEW guys stepped up, too. Punk probably would have had the central leadership role he seemed to want and the locker room would have grown around him. Plus, if Punk had been there from the beginning, maybe AEW would never have signed Colt Cabana, giving Punk less stuff to rant and be paranoid about. |
