Punk is f***ing done, man. He has done such a number to his rep.
Still think he’ll wind up back in WWE down the road, but he’ll have to be on his absolute best behavior. Which, in a lot of ways, goes against what makes Phil “C.M Punk”. People in WWE were already dubious, some had talked shit, etc…with burning this bridge and how much wrestlers tend to communicate with one another..? Phil will have to either deliver a monumental mea culpa or continue being the prideful, ostracized asshole that he is.
I give the devil his due, it’ll be fascinating to see what happens. Even at his worst he’s entertaining but this really is like a movie. A modern Greek tragedy. One hell of a fall.

I can see people being really annoyed that Ace Steele essentially took Colt Cabana's spot more than Colt Cabana not being there at all. Yeah, even if it was happenstance, that must have looked terrible to the boys.

There's more people in WWE who hate Punk than there is in AEW, so I can only imagine how disastrous him going back to WWE would be.

He had it all and could go out with a final run as the top guy. He was doing great work. And he flushed it all away.

Honestly, it's not like Colt was doing much of anything on TV before Punk got there. Just it went from not much to Sir Not Appearing On This Show. And even if his appearance on TV was just a morale boost, his presence backstage should help a lot.

It won't be enough for some people. For some people, it won't be enough. Nothing would be enough. In their eyes, CM Punk was right all along and The Elite convinced Tony Khan to expel him from AEW. The people who truly believe that are the QAnon of wrestling fans. People who will believe any wild conspiracy theory thrown at them when all evidence says the opposite.

And even if his appearance on TV was just a morale boost, his presence backstage should help a lot. Colt was still frequently appearing on DARK in Dark Order multi men matches. He was still kind of around and doing stuff weekly even if it was on the Youtube shows... but even that stopped, even him being in Dark Order segments on BTE stopped The guy wasn't a mainstay figurehead in AEW for a bit but he was there... and then he wasn't Hopefully he just retakes the job Ace took from him tbh.

Just to play devil’s advocate on this particular Twitter like: seeing the all caps “FOR THE BOYS” from Trent, and the report that Tony wanted to do this to improve morale backstage, and my personal experience with executives and their need to motivate their teams, I’d like to put on the table the possibility that Tony gave a motivational speech where he said he wanted to put Colt out there “FOR THE BOYS” in the same over excited way he makes announcements to TV crowds. Trent was making fun of Tony’s speech. Dax was liking Trent taking the piss out of Tony’s “FOR THE BOYS” speech. This wouldn’t necessarily say anything about whose side any of them are taking, just that they like shitting on Tony’s speech. I dunno, just hard for me to believe Dax suddenly chose to publicly reveal he’s solidly not on Punk’s side.

Well that's rather stupid then. They use him as a pawn instead of actually doing anything of significance with him. I don't expect to have him as a world champion of whatever, but it's rather dehumanizing to use someone in order to make someone else upset, if that was the intent. This is exactly what I was stating too and being lambasted for it.

Which, if true, means Trent’s thing was literal as opposed to your theory but iono.

Everything 2011 CM Punk demanded was delivered twofold by AEW and yet, here we are, a legacy pretty much upended by a kayfabe post-show scrum. f***ing bizarre way to go out but it certainly is novel, so I give him points for that.

Loving all of the melted weirdos elsewhere talking about how Tony "chose" The Elite "over" CM Punk as if you can make the company look bad and jump your bosses and like that's totally a fine and valid thing to do.

This is exactly what I was stating too and being lambasted for it. That's not why your posts were being criticized but okay Because the way Colt was used was petty? More as a pawn than a person receiving their due time? Which in any other circumstance wouldn't have been him in that position. Let's not act like he has been portrayed than anything but a comedy character for a decade now. You can measure the level of petty all you want just never thought that the lesser of two evils was something to be applauded "but okay."

On the topic of Colt Cabana and Ace Steele: how must it feel knowing that you're one of only two guys your trainer is known for training, and yet your trainer openly and blatantly favours the other guy?
