It's amazing how it's always the same group of posters who bump this thread and other threads in this part of the forum and always talk about how much AEW sucks, yet they turn around and claim to be AEW fans. No wonder I hardly ever come into this forum anymore aside from the show threads. This part of the forum has become rotten. It's exhausting, especially when it's the exact same circle It doesn't come off like concern from real fans when people just keep going "Look, LOOK! BAD THINGS ARE HAPPENING!" and then when we discuss what should be done in a civil manner, measures are eventually met to stop the bad and correct the issue in different ways. It's then met with "Embarrassing! Bush League! LOOK! I told you it was bad!!". CLARIFICATION: This does not mean it isn't coming from real genuine fans of the product, I'm saying how it's coming off, even if it's not the INTENT of them. And then when people rightfully call this out, they try to backtrack, and suddenly the ones defending are trying to overlook the problems. No, we're just tired of every small thing being turned into the biggest embarrassing humiliation drama for AEW that week. I'm honestly really glad that lately, when this stuff has happened, I've been pretty absent from the arguments, because when I used to be in the forefront of them, all I was labeled was the AEW white knight who replied to people because "You just can't ever say anything negative about the company!" to dismiss any point I try to make on the Board anymore. Glad several other people have voiced in this very thread, that they're tired of this shit too. Thank you, seriously.

I've bought every AEW PPV since the beginning, I'm subscribed to AEW+ and I've spent money on merchandise, but hey according to you, I'm not a real fan.
How bloody ridiculous.
I've never once claimed AEW sucks, I have an interest in attendance figures because its a good way to see how a company is doing. All I've done is just point out that they have had a problem selling tickets for quite awhile now and its something that needs to improve......this is literally a thread about AEW having problems selling tickets that was started in late 2022 and I didn't even start the thread.
But hey blame me and others who are apparently not proper fans according to you.
We might as well just close this thread now because that's clearly what you want, don't worry I won't be posting in here again.

I never said you weren't a real fan, I said this argument didn't come off like genuine concern from real fans when stuff like this is constantly conflated and thrown out there as "embarrassing" or "bush league". And it doesn't, it comes off disingenuous and you were called out for it by way more than me here. Sorry if I offended you, but as you've seen by the responses, people are tired of this. No one was even disagreeing with your point that they needed to change things up to help move tickets, but the second they did make efforts, they weren't the right way, and it was "embarrassing" for them to be doing it. At that point people get exhausted about what the argument is even about anymore. I never doubted you had legit concern over the ticket sales or an interest in the numbers, but all this thread really seemed to keep doing by the end was pointing out an issue over and over, and then when AEW actually took measures to try and solve the issues in some fashion, it was STILL an "embarrassing issue". It didn't feel like it came with good intentions, and I said as such, and so did other people. But I agree this thread has really just hit a wall, especially when my comments once again get turned into stuff like this and I have to explain what I was actually trying to convey instead of being made to look like a bad guy trying to bring you down. An entire statement boiled down to one single part of it where it looks like I'm advocating for a thread to get locked and chase you away. Yeah, I'm sure the only one who had a problem with how this thread was going and what was being said within it. Crazy how I said how people treat my replies in the above post and... that's exactly what happened again. As I said, it's very exhausting, and I'm glad others have said the same here, that's where I'll leave it.

Can we stop with the gatekeeping and overdefending of AEW? It’s clear by the thread title what this thread will be discussing yet we have to see people saying that people aren’t posting in good faith just because it’s the same few people posting about it in a negative light and they disagree with them?

Can we stop with the gatekeeping and overdefending of AEW? People providing clear defenses and counterpoints to people saying "AEW is bush league and embarrassing for having Paul Wight talk at OVW and bring up a ticket deal" is not gatekeeping and overdefending of anything There was zero problem in this thread and active discussion about the ticket sales and what could be done to improve them until that talking point was introduced and suddenly something AEW was doing to try and fix the issues was still bad and embarrassing for them to do. Sorry if I got a bit heated in my responses but given multiple people took issue with this and provided reasons as to why they took issue with this, to say it's gatekeeping and "overdefending" I think is also incredibly disingenuous to why people are upset and annoyed about this as an overarching issue on the boards.

If you don’t open the thread then it’s not gonna affect you, people.

If you don’t open the thread then it’s not gonna affect you people. Yes because the conversation devolving into AEW being "embarrassing" and "bush league" is so constructive! I didn't even get involved in this discussion until like three pages after it initially happened, but even I can see what the y'know, actual problem is and why people got upset? It's extremely disingenuous to say that this is a discussion people can't handle when it has been for weeks, and it only went over the top when people started going over the top with their claims about it being what I said above. This wasn't a "conversation" after a point, it's why people got upset and said something. It just turned into another AEW hate parade over something so insignificant, and shockingly, plenty of people are sick of it. For making such a claim that certain people get bothered by stuff and shouldn't reply or talk about it because it "won't affect them", it's fine to ignore why this thread jumped off the rails in the first place, and I'm glad people spoke up about it tbh.

You regularly take part in the 81 page shit on FTR parade and nobody tries to stop that one. But they’re not on the right side of popular opinion so that one’s fine.

Yes the guy who regularly makes an ass out of himself on Twitter and interviews, and the other that was involved in an actual crime getting criticism, is totally the exact same thing as calling AEW embarrassing and Bush League for Paul Wight visiting OVW and giving them a ticket deal. Two Plus Two does in fact equal Ninety Seven. Ignore when I was defending Cash at the onset too, even when they won at Wembley, and when I defended Dax too before he got too overly obnoxious, because that happened, but it doesn't match your bizarre narrative you're trying to push with this strawman argument. This thread has gotten absolutely baffling.

But you never called for that thread to be closed or shamed people for making fun of him.Nor should you since it’s alright for a thread to be negative. Also for the record I do think it’s worse to make fun of an individual than it is to make fun of a company run by a billionaire.

Trolls! How low can you go? Camera side rows, what a brother knows Once again, back is the incredible The mod animal The will ban y'll Ed, AEW Concern Troll Enemy Number One.
Meh, I've said it in multiple threads it's the same people over and over preaching doom and gloom and when pointed out rush to "I'm a fan. I spend money. Why won't people believe that I like this company I spend my time on here shitting on!" You complain to me not being treated fair and wanting others banned, but can't see you're the cause of your own problems.
And to Chuck D and crew, I apologize.

I don't have a horse in this race. But I think the last paragraph you wrote speaks to a bigger issue as to why these hostile arguments keep happening. I'd like to speak about them privately if you don't mind reaching out via PM, I won't pry. It's not even about certain posters continuing to post about X,Y,Z. It's about a perceived sentiment that again leads to these arguments continuing to happen

I’d just like to say that people criticizing AEW in a critical thread doesn’t bother me at all.
I just found criticizing AEW for advertising its Louisville show at OVW, in particular, to be an invalid criticism, particularly after so much of the discussion had been that AEW should do more to advertise in the markets it’s going to.
Certainly, if it’s fair to criticize AEW, then it’s more than fair for the criticism to be criticized.

Critiquing something shouldn't imply that they aren't fans of the company. Like come on. How many people here spend money on WWE and critique it, but would still call themselves fans? It's not really fair, and that's what I'm getting at. This place has no shortage of AEW fans, and to insinuate anybody as less for critiquing one damn thing illustrates a shade of hypocrisy and unjust talking down to.

No one should be personally attacked for something as silly as a pro wrestling opinion. I just wanted to chime in since I probably pushed back the hardest against the Paul Wight at OVW criticism.

I once again need to clarify that I never once said they weren't a real fan I said the rhetoric made it come off disingenuous, and questionable. Like it wasn't coming from a genuine place of wanting things to improve and was only funneling more needless drama. I should have worded it better and made it clearer that's what I was targeting, but I was frustrated with this thread and still am really lol.

But reading this man... there's no reason to be frustrated. Critiquing something a company does comes with the territory. I can say I get frustrated with people still talking about the ending to mania 39 (just a placeholder example) but won't voice my displeasure at it. My feelings on an arbitrary wrestling company tactic aren't a primary concern that should deter others from posting what they want

Is what it is on how people feel about it in the end, but I think everything that could be said, has been by now.

This thread was completely silent for 2+ days as AEW had reasonably good attendance for TV last week and Full Gear continued to sell pretty well, then got bumped just to take the piss out of AEW for having Paul Wight advertise the Louisville show at Louisville local indy. It doesn’t mean the people doing the critiquing aren’t true fans, or that they are coming from a bad place, but sometimes it feels like AEW only ever even generates conversation when it’s negative. It’s hard not to chime in and question the intention when almost every conversation about AEW is so fatalistic.
