Toni has the shortest reign in the history of the belt. Don’t know if I like that. Even as a big Toni fan I'm cool with it. In this era where it seems like most reigns go way too long, it's nice being able to enjoy one from start to finish and actually wanting to see someone hold the title again.

I'm fine with it, honestly, especially since she might very well end up being the first two-time champion.

And considering how many times she defended it or put it on the line in Eliminator matches, it seems they're high enough on her to make that happen. Like, the only person more of a consistent during the last two months was Jon Moxley.

Toni has the shortest reign in the history of the belt. Don’t know if I like that. She had one of the best reigns with the belt period I think we as AEW fans have seen this enough, especially with the women's belts, but Long does not always equal Good. I'll take the quality over the quantity.

I'll take the quality over the quantity. She got more to work with than Nyla, whose reign really got screwed by the pandemic. Hikaru Shida also had to deal with that, but she at least got what will quite likely be the longest title reign for the title forever. Not saying it cannot happen, but I do not see another year+ title reign happening for many years, if it happens at all.

Toni definitely had a quality-not-quantity reign and will certainly be champion again. I think striking while the iron was hot with Jamie was more important and there'd be a lot more angry discourse if they hadn't

Let's also remember this with Toni. She also had the 2nd most title defenses in division history and as I said in her thread, really helped repair a lot of the division's reputation. So I don't think anybody can say anything to bad about her reign. I just think Hayter got insanely over and they decided to capitalize

Toni has the shortest reign in the history of the belt. Don’t know if I like that. It wasn’t a comically short reign or anything, so who cares? She defended a bunch of times and raised the profile of the top of the division, IMO.

Glad that Jamie is the champion and that Toni was.

Toni's run with the belt is probably overall the 'best executed' it's had, honestly. Even if I think Shida had better matches, Toni wasn't marginalized in a lot of the ways that it felt Shida was, where she would vanish for a little bit and show back up only for a sudden build to a title match at the next PPV. Toni got to go in there, be consistently featured, put on quality matches, got mic time, and it felt like a logical place for her run to leave off. Not necessarily her time at the top of the division, but someone has to have that shortest run and two and a half months is hardly a bad 'shortest' when you consider how much got packed into it.

This is why interim champs are so dumb. Also, it is odd to make Toni not an interim champ after she already lost it. They should just get rid of the whole interim thing completely.

It's not odd in that this is how the interim titles have been used previously. When Moxley beat Punk, it made him retroactively the champion for that entire period. If it didn't make Storm a champion, it'd have rendered there being no champion for that whole time.

Anal Bleeding comes to mind with how insufferable she makes Busted Open Radio to listen to when she co-hosts on Friday's.

Toni has the shortest reign in the history of the belt. Don’t know if I like that. Hey, at least Toni didn't vanish into the void like Nyla Rose and Hikaru Shida did. Take that as a major win.

Anything longer that a period in between PPV's should do what they did last night: make champion vacate title and retroactively make the interim champions part of the lineage.

So in a way we should blame it on Punk for AEW bringing up the interim bs on the women division?
Im happy the interim stuff is gone though...

I honestly am getting used to the interim stuff, but yeah, when it's going to be longer than, say, 2 months, best to relinquish.
I hope Rosa was cool with it, still, having it kayfabe at least that she's relinquishing rather than being stripped like Punk is at least saving face.

They did it with Cody first but yeah, I'm still happy to blame Punk!

If they're going to keep the interim titles, they need to put a definitive time limit on it and uphold it for everyone. Not back in 30/60/90 days, then the title gets stripped. They had to go the interim route with Rosa after doing it with Cody and Punk though. I don't think treating the women's champ differently would have been the way to go (unless they completely scrap the interim thing altogether)
