My general stance on all this is pretty much what it is with Marvel, "I'll watch some things, not watch some others, and we'll figure out which is which when we get to it." There are things that interest me on paper and things that don't but we'll see how it goes.
Especially since I'm kind of up-and-down on Gunn anyway. More up than down but while I liked them I don't really look back on the GotG movies that fondly (and haven't seen the holiday special) and I found the pilot of Peacemaker interminable to sit through so never watched the rest.

Doing some reading about the supergirl story the movie would be based on, & that sounds like a good time

Why on earth would you take inspiration from Grant Morrison's Batman run of all things? He's done a lot of great work but that certainly isn't part of it.

All-Star Superman was one of the best Superman books I've ever read. Great source for inspiration for a movie.

I mean I think everyone expected Cranky Wizard's Swamp Thing when you mention Horror Movie and Swampy.

Honestly even then I find it weird because Damian was pretty much universally reviled under Morrison and it's only under later writers that some people started coming around on him.

I can tolerate Damian in live action a bit more if the Pattinson Batman sequel does introduce Dick Grayson into the fold. It would fit in well with the ending of the first film; with Bruce realizing the value in a friend and partner in further bringing hope to Gotham and allowing himself to open up his own heart a little bit.

All-Star Superman is a great run but it does not fit at all with what Gunn is saying his Superman movie is going to be. I presume he's talking more about the tone than the plot but the fact that Superman is near the end of his run instead of at the beginning is pretty integral to the whole thing.

As someone who was a fan of Zack Synder's take on Superman and most of the JL Ezra Miller was a bad Flash, but that was before all the crazy stuff he was involved in. Anyway, I'm interested in how James Gunn's new DCU will pan out.
I'm looking forward to Paradise Lost and Lanterns.
But that's my take

James Gunn's previous work will automatically have my interested in his DC offerings. I'm Marvel first, but a good DC slate would be great as well, IMO.

Viola Davis just won a Grammy to complete her EGOT. They’ve already announced she’s being kept in the new DCU. Guess being excellent is a better path than lying about box office and pretending you have any power over anything whatsoever.

One thing I think is pretty awesome is that when Gunn told us what comics inspired the upcoming slate of movies, people actually bought the comics. They're selling out across the country.
I hope this is a continued trend. CBM's, especially Marvel's, never really promoted the comics alongside the movies. So it's long been a talking point that CBM popularity never translated to comic book sales. Just goes to show that it's more because no one bothered to promote them.

They tried doing like hidden QR codes and stuff in the tv series stuff but yeah... that is not as direct as read these cool books. DC has been doing that for a bit, the Gotham Knights game ended with check out these comics at the end too.

To be fair I dont think the MCU wanted to be associated with stuff like Nazi Cap.

Well considering Ike Perlmutter was still highly involved on the comics side I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t promote them.

To be fair I dont think the MCU wanted to be associated with stuff like Nazi Cap. They still could've promoted the older comics that served as inspiration for the movies and could be bought in TPB form. Current Marvel doing stupid things doesn't exclude from promoting their back catalog.
