I'm confident Regal aligns with MJF at Full Gear. Like, willing to eat an item of clothing if it doesn't happen confident. Will you eat your hoodie?

Regal standing around and saying nothing for two weeks straight has been super conspicuous, so Regal aligning with Max feels like the move to make.
...I really want face MJF out of this, though. Really feels like the moment is right for it.

Yeah, this whole Firm thing is a Swerve.

Hangman vs MJF has to happen before MJF goes face again IMO

I would be more okay with this being a swerve if crowds weren’t basically begging for a face turn. Now I think you have to change your plans.

Yeah, this whole Firm thing is a Swerve. It's the most obvious swerve ever and he's even saying it out loud. He can't be a face, maybe he'll be an nWo type of heel where he has fans cheering him, but is obviously heel.

Yeah, this whole Firm thing is a Swerve. If it isn't a swerve then that was the weakest ever "face makes the save" I've ever seen Was like watching a Steven Segal training seminar the way people were throwing themselves around

MJF sliding back into being a heel just seems like the most boring f***ing possible way to go right now. There isn't really anyone of note for him to obviously feud with as a heel at this point in time because pretty much every notable option either has zero momentum or has something else going on, it's pretty much just going, "No, stop it," to another thing the crowd's dying for, and it's arguably undercutting one of the few people in the company who feels like a hot act right now.
Feels like AEW's ice cold presently as it is and just doing some, "LOL swerved you!" bullshit with this will just make it a million times worse. Feels like the smarter play by far would be to have him indeed win clean, position him as a reluctant tweener for awhile, and build some greater evil to eventually come after him and push him all the way over the line into face.

Agreed 100%. Even if he's the reluctant tweener who just spits venom at everyone, you have to listen to the crowd on this one (like they did with The Acclaimed). They have a chance to make a megastar here. You risk damaging the character a lot if he just does the same thing he always does. I'm sure Max and TK will take the boos as "aha it worked!" instead of "same ol' shit". In fact when the swerve does happen I want the entire arena to chant "Same Ol' Shit".

I’d genuinely have to consider taking an AEW break if they “swerve” us with MJF. Just let him be a face for a minute. Break the status quo.

Honestly, assuming Mox takes a vacation after this and Hangman is still out for a while, they may go through with turning MJF just to fill the babyface void.

There's a bunch of different ways I could see this going, and frankly I've been wrong with pretty much all of my AEW predictions for the past year so I'm not hitching my wagon to any one outcome. But I would be disappointed if everything with The Firm ended up being a swerve because it would be both the most boring and the most nonsensical option.

At the moment I'm leaning towards Regal helping him win, which I don't hate, I just don't think either man needs it. If MJF stays heel I hope Hangman is his first challenger.

Regal would be interesting.
Seeing all the "well he doesn't need Regal" sure, but Ric Flair never needed a manager, Curt Hennig, a lot of guys don't NEED a manager but having someone with them they can bounce off in segments can great great, entertaining dynamics.

I think MJF could greatly benefit from Regal. MJF is a great promo, but he can be easily neutralized by an opponent not taking him seriously. At this point in his character's development he's fueled too much by aggression (often in the disguise of passion). Beyond aggression there's cynicism and that's it. Regal might help him emote on more levels or save him from an opponent who laughs in his face.

And, although he's gotten a lot better with it, Regal might be able to help him stay out of the shooty, insider stuff and find more range in kayfabe. He's a great promo, but cheap heat and shooting are a couple of crutches he could get away from to be even better.

The cheap heat feels coherent. It's a boyish bullying tactic. The shooting blurs the line between gimmick and actual personality so much that I'm not sure how seriously I should take him as a performer as of now. I don't know if I'm watching a character growing up - that would be great tv. Or if I'm watching a surpremely talented young man struggling to overcome some traumata - that would be uncomfortable. I for sure was never as conflicted regarding a wrestler.

If they do the Swerve and keep Max heel after this I will feel like my time was wasted
I do not want the character face, but the fans wanted it. They were making it work for a good while. And now if he does stay heel, it will feel stale where I think if he hadn't teased the turn he could literally be heel until he retired. And then if they ever do actually want to turn him I will hate it more every time they do this and the turn itself when it comes
