Who's ready for a year straight of, "I'm taking the belt to WWE in 2024, I'm doing it, I'm gonna do it!"? Because that's all this character ever ends up f***ing doing in the end.

So it was another fakeout. We gotta stop falling for this guy's crap. He’s kind of the master of the heel turn even though he’s already a heel.

While I did love the show and love Max as champ I am so done with the face fakeout How many times is this now in AEW that he's done this? Three? Two extended ones with the friendship with Rhodes right at the beginning of the company and this one here against Moxley, and the shorter one against Punk based off that one promo he did.

Kinda want Moxley to tell the fans to f*** off too. Busts his hump for this company above and beyond the call of duty and they were so quick to turn on him because they fell for the sleazeball's sympathy card once again.

Like, the problem with even though one knows it's always a fakeout, one kinda just has to keep their powder dry because of the way MJF plays his sympathy cards. " You don't want to side with the type of people that bullied him, do you?" is always kinda implied there.

He hasn't mentioned the WWE/contract thing in a couple of weeks so I'm hoping they've realised it's the dirt worst and have moved on. I think we all know he absolutely did sign a contract extension anyway.

If I may step in to defend the crowd, there was a big "THANK YOU MOXLEY" chant after the show went off the air. It wasn't that we turned on Mox so much as we just really, really wanted MJF to win.

Then he wins with the brass knuckles and heels out in the presser and now you’re like: I get it, y’all were emotionally invested and all that, which is way better than putting up that wall and refusing to buy into anything.

That said, there was likely a notable number of people who wanted the win AND the swerve. Similar to someone who would go to one of his signings and want him to insult them right to their face.

I think we all know he absolutely did sign a contract extension anyway. I mean, it’s assumed by some that he did sign an extension. But there hasn’t been any actual confirmation of his status long-term. His promo at the scrum was good, but the same old ‘I fooled you!’ stuff. I’ll still check out his segments, because he’s great, but I’m annoyed that they keep going back to the same routine with him. It’s really tired.

I think he'll be like Roman over the next year or so. A heel who's still basically the top babyface. I imagine he's still a dick but tones down the more obnoxious things he used to do for heat.

I don’t think AEW cares about what the audience want in this instance. Based on his promo at the scrum, he’ll heel on the crowd and remain heel. Which—fine. He was a heel when he came back. Yuta was getting cheered against him at times. Why do another fake turn? You’re diluting his eventual face turn. Unless Tony never plans to make MJF a face in AEW, which looks pretty likely. It’s just hard to give a shit about a lot of their storytelling when ‘swerve’ is the default move.

I don’t know how that works in practice, because if he is that over as a heel—then you’re positioning the face against him to fail (Wardlow would be doomed, for example.) If his next opponents are The Firm, then he’s a face-tweener and we’re just doing semantics.

I’m pretty sure Danielson will circle back to Yuta now, though.
