Bringing Jeff as backstage talent makes sense, apparently he did good job in WWE. But on-screen? No thanks, keep him away. If he's going to be on the payroll anyhow, might as well get as much mileage out of him as you can. Dude is a "Name" wrestler, former World champ and he got a big reaction from the crowd when they saw him and throughout his promo Using him as a manager and occasionally getting in the ring to put over young talent is a good use for him.

I have mixed feelings about Jarrett but at least he can teach some indie talent how to throw a damn punch

Jarrett has always been good, and the worst knock against him is he thinks Ain't I Great instead.
Given Billy Gunn is currently one of the most beloved figures on the roster, the typical doomsaying is probably premature. Or did anyone here say "Yes! Billy Gunn! I bet he'll be an integral part of one of the most beloved storylines of 2022!" when he showed up?

I remember going to a TNA show here in the UK and it did great numbers.
Jarrett is one of those backstage guys that do a great job as long as he stays in his lane. TNA just made the mistake of giving him the entire highway at times.

Nobody said that, but he also debuted in a random battle royale and then didn't do much until joining The Acclaimed. And I'd argue that Billy Gunn has had interesting periods before. Jarrett just never has for me and his TNA reign of terror still haunts me. Sure the AEW magic might work on him, but until then he's still buns.

The only thing I really disliked about Jarrett is his TNA Reign of Terror. I think there's a roughly zero percent chance of that happening in AEW. And it's not even like his TNA run was all bad. Real life circumstances with his first wife's death made him a really sympathetic face in the mid-late 00's. And MMA Jarrett was really entertaining. And while his WWE returns were pretty lackluster, they were inoffensive. His later runs in indies like GCW were pretty entertaining, too.
If they use him like they use other elder statesman talent like Billy Gunn and Sting he'll be fine.

I'd have always rather watched Billy Gunn at his worst than Jeff Jarrett at his best, and even as someone who's always had a soft spot for Billy I really don't think Gunn himself has much of anything to do with why the Acclaimed is as hot as they are right now anyway. They kind of just needed a third wheel they could spout off a catchphrase to, feel like anyone could've slotted into that role.

I feel like a lot of the blowback to this is from folks who have PTSD from Jarrett being on top in WCW and TNA (although he really wasn't a top guy in WCW despite holding the title and gets way too much blame for that era). And those folks are totally valid in those feelings. But I also imagine a large portion of the current AEW audience weren't big TNA fans from 2002-2006. Jeff to them is probably just the dude who hits people with guitars that they've seen in video packages over the years. I doubt he's going to cause any sort of issues business wise by being on camera occasionally. He's certain an upgrade over the likes of Tully and Arn since he's a little more TV ready right now and can also work sometimes.

If AEW didn’t feel so cluttered lately, I don’t think a wild slapnuts suddenly appearing would come off so deterring. Bright side? He might make Jay Lethal interesting? Godspeed Double J.

Jeff Jarrett: "How do I win The Ichi over somewhat? That's it! A funny dig at Braun Strowman."
*Actual discussion that may or may not have happened.*

Braun buried the indies a couple of days ago yet there are people defending him, that makes no sense.

Why is this dude still taking shots at the Indies? Like does he know tripling down on bullshit isn't a smart idea?

Braun is my absolute least favorite wrestler there is.
This JJ run is going great so far in my book.

I almost wish he was using his GCW theme. It's the wee woo wee woo of My World but if a serial killer used it.
