I'm thinking about the years where my wrestling fandom had its peaks, and in hindsight it's kinda weird to me that 2009 was one of them, a year where I was like "F*** YES WRESTLING! YES!" the whole way through. It made sense in summer cuz Smackdown and ECW were really good and for personal reasons summer 2009 was an all time wrestle peak, but like I was still exceedingly Feeling It™ for wrestling even during a boring Rumble, an uneven WM build, a mostly suckass Wrestlemania, Raw being what it was in 2009, a messy messy fall, lots more. It was a really uneven time with a lot of good and bad but I remember the balance being skewed more towards bad lol, but I still was ultra engaged with every show, staring at PPV posters, constantly looking over wrestle magazines, PPV match cards/theme videos on loop, constantly speculating on where things were going despite the answer 9 times out of 10 just being "Cena, HHH, and/or Orton do something." Meanwhile TNA had like Foley winning the world title, and I think Main Event Mafia build up? I was still engaged with all that shit as well lmao.
Do you have any time periods you were way hype for wrestling/a certain brand even whilst it was probably mostly sucking?

Easy. Global in 1994. The company was no longer on ESPN for awhile, and the Freebirds were coming back to Dallas (I didn't know better then, that I was getting a broken down Hayes and Garvin, and post near-death-experience Gordy) Had my mom's friend record Sportschannel just to get some episodes.
Actually, when I was younger and in my "watch anything" phase, I gave a free pass to a LOT of things. When I started watching, for instance, AWA and WCCW supposedly had jumped the shark by then. Still watched it, still loved it. Didn't give up on WWF New Generation, nor HHCW (Hulk Hogan Championship Wrestling, aka WCW '94). Global in general post 1992.

2009 TNA. I had just started watching and I had no idea what genuinely good wrestling was. There was some good stuff there, but nothing that should have justified my insistence that this was the best product.

I still have really fond memories of the Invasion. Even though it was awful.

2019/2020. I'd just subscribed to the Network, and I got back into wrestling after a 15-year break. Everything was fresh and new and exciting.

I bought Great American Bash 2006 after I knew half the people on the card had elevated liver enzymes and/or were injured because I was legitimately curious how they would even have a show with so many substitutions. It wasn’t a great show but they did the best they could and I thought it was alright all things considered.
I was also pumped to watch Kurt Angle replace Roman Reigns in the Shield after Roman got Mono. I’m a sucker for an event where I know there will be substitutions.

I enjoyed WCW in the Jim Herd era and the babyface Hogan eras, if that counts.
Other than that, this thread made me realize that I've only really watched wrestling closely while it was good and lost interest whenever it wasn't.

WWE from summer 06 until Benoit. I had stopped watching for years when I turned my TV on and my parents had left Box Office up. Ric Flair and Mick Foley were booked in an I Quit match. And Sabu was wrestling for the ECW title. And Edge was WWE champion? Had no idea what had happened in between and bought Summerslam 06 in a heartbeat

Does WWF in 1999 count? I mean, it was an exciting time to be a fan when it was happening, but looking back at it now, it can be hard to watch, at least in the undercard. Still miles ahead of what WCW was doing at the time.

WCW in 1992-93, I know it was a dull period but I really enjoyed some of the feuds like Cactus Jack's feuds with Paul Orndorff and Vader as well as Steamboat/Douglas vs. Hollywood Blondes.

I was really fond of watching Heat in 06-07ish. Always looked forward to new episodes being uploaded to WWE’s site. It was also kinda fun waiting for a match to load when our family still had dial up internet.
Long live The Highlanders and luchadore mask Charlie Haas. Can’t forget the legendary team of Super Crazy and Hacksaw Jim Duggan, either.

I still have really fond memories of the Invasion. Even though it was awful. This is it for me too. Looking back, it was a huge disappointment. At the time though me and my friends were fully invested. Now granted, a lot of things we were excited for ended up not happening until way later (Goldberg, NWO, Steiner) but at the time we didn't know that would be the case. We were kids who didn't read dirtsheets or anything so every week we were wondering who was going to show up. Even f***ing Kronik showing up and attacking Undertaker and Kane was a big deal to us at the time.

Even with what a mess it was on the whole I largely found the Nexus storyline must-see and I'm not sure I've been as invested in anything in wrestling since.
