20. Pikmin 2
Ended up liking it way more that I thought I would but still prefer the style of Pikmin 1 and 3.

21. Luigi's Mansion 3
I actually kind of hated this game. It's so long (if you don't just rush through) and even stretches it's run time with back tracking segments. The standard ghosts feel so boring to fight, it's just shot them with the flashlight and suck em up, and it never really expands from that. Also, as someone with a Switch Lite, Boo hunting was miserable since the Switch Lite doesn't have rumble.

115. Pokemon Scarlet - Indigo Disk Counting it due to having both finished the story and the Pokedex (other than the stuff not released yet anyway), took enough time and effort I figured it counted as its own thing much like with Teal Mask. DLC kind of runs like ass but I still just enjoy this game, its gameplay loop just really works for me. 21. Luigi's Mansion 3 I actually kind of hated this game. I liked it more than you did, but it is kind of a thing where I played through it once and once might well be enough. It's better than Dark Moon but certainly not to the level of the first one.

116. Hades
I should really play this game more often. I kind of always dread playing it if I haven't in awhile because I just kind of assume I'll suck at it, but doesn't tend to take too long to shake off the cobwebs and get back into the swing of it. Kind of just tend to not really play it super often despite rather enjoying it.

117. Milk Outside a Bag of Milk Outside a Bag of Milk
Kind of didn't know this had multiple endings, probably need to comb through for those at some point, but the core experience is kind of so simple that I could see it being a bit repetitive to get them all at once so probably just call it a one and done for now. Rather enjoyed it, can definitely see the upgrade in production quality compared to the first one.

118. A Normal Lost Phone
Not like a super replayable game, but it's been a few years ago so figured it'd be fun to revisit it. Do think it does what it's trying to do super well - and kind of saying more on it than that would be giving it away - but it is kind of extremely limited in how much you can really consider it a game exactly. Either way it's a fun little experiment that's a good way to kill some time and I'd recommend giving it a look if you're into short and breezy visual novels, though I'd probably get it on sale because there is noooot a lot to it.
I should probably replay the sequel at some point as well. It never really stuck with me quite as much but remember also enjoying it.

13. What remains of Edith Finch
Great wee indie game and well worth a few hours of anyone's time. It is quite a dark game though tbh.

119. Super Castlevania IV
I'd gotten a good ways into it on the SNES Classic a few years ago but just kind of petered out near the end despite rather enjoying it, but past couple days I decided hey, I have this on the Switch, let's give it another go so been kind of playing it on and off. Not really in love with it or anything, think a lot of the more difficult aspects of it feel rather artificial (shout out to Slogra) and it's kind of too long for what it is, but did still like it quite a bit and it has some really awesome Mode 7 stuff going on I'm a huge mark for.

22. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Was actually about to say how short this game was but I just unlocked the toadette levels. Either way, a pretty fun game and good palette cleanser from Luigi's Mansion 3.

120. ActRaiser Renaissance
I had the original back when I was a kid, and always had a major softspot for it despite never being especially good at it. Kind of long been wanting to revisit it and the other day the mood struck me to finally buy the remake after years of considering it and so been kind of pushing through that pretty rapidly.
On the whole I really loved it, kind of wound up kind of addicted the past few days, but was kind of starting to the reach the point of, "Eh, I'm about ready to be done with this," as I approached the end. Part of the issue is the tower defense segments, which I understand the thought process on including but are overused, tend to go on for too long, and are much more difficult than the rest of the game, they can be kind of fun but eventually just get a bit exhausting. Still, had a lot of fun with the game on the whole, though probably going to take a break from it for a bit before doing the bonus boss.

121. Castlevania: The Adventure
Holy hell why is the third Game Boy Castlevania game the one they aggressively buried for decades and threw out of canon? That game isn't great either but it's vastly better than this one. Every level just drags on and on and on and on, with the same stuff in each one over and over and over and over, while the platforming feels like you're continually jumping through sludge and Christopher Belmont walks so slowly he might as well be going backwards. This suuuucked.

122. Super Mario Odyssey
For this particular playthrough I went up through beating the Darker Side of the Moon.
In general it’s a game I feel conflicted on. I kind of think it’s very overrated and has a lot of problems readily evident on repeat playthroughs, but I do definitely still enjoy it and it can be a rather addictive gameplay loop. I think it kind of overstays its welcome and it is VERY not worth 100%ing (though I have done it) but it is still certainly good.

Alan Wake 2 - bloody brilliant. I'll do the New Game plus mode along with the DLC when that comes out.

Onimusha 2:
Onimusha is one of those franchises that I have a connection to since my childhood, when my parents got me the third one to play on my Windows vista and only realized their mistake when the first cutscene of Paris getting invaded played and I was hooked. It took several years, but I eventually got hold of the first one and beat that on stream for a bunch of my friends and had a good time with it. It's the most Survival Horror-ish out of the series with the tank controls, pre-rendered backgrounds and focus on a single location throughout the game. Anyway, all of this was to put into context my finally beating Onimusha 2 this month.
It's one of those games that I had tried and dropped multiple times after beating the first one. At first, it seems similar in execution as you start playing as Jubei, a different lead from last game's Sammanosuke whose likeness is based on an actor from Japan, the gameplay and controls are the same, though, much smoother in execution and game feel. The problem is once you're done with the opening part and get to the town and the game starts introducing the supporting cast that a gameplay element jumps out of a bush screaming at me. The gift system. Basically, each of the four main supporting characters have a relationship value with Jubei that goes up and down pending on the gifts given to them and this introduces a lot of things like different cutscenes pending on which you're on good terms with at certain points in the game leading to a lot of replay value if you want to see every scene.
The problem is once you start engaging with it and you realize that permanent upgrades like Power Jewels and Magic Jewels are in this system and are randomly given out relative to the value of the gift you give the character, and also other gifts that can result in upgrades for the obligatory "Capcom play as other character sections" they love putting in games, which for the most part, is also reliant on the relationship value with the other characters whether or not you actually get to play most of them, with only one guaranteed.
I needed a guide to even see half of the stuff this game has to offer, which is a shame since it is a really good game! Like, gameplay-wise it is just a better Onimusha 1, still has tank controls, but for the most part it feels much better than the first in moving around, engaging in combat and doing the signature move the series had since the start, Issen which is an instant kill to enemies if you managed to tap the attack button the right frame as enemies swing at you which is so much fun when you get the timing down. One of the other things that endeared this game to me was the cutscenes, they are hilarious to watch for the most part with the early aughts dubbing for half the cast being reaaaaally bad and has to be seen to be believed, equivalent to the dubbing in Fatal Frame for some of these characters and the plot is bananas, especially in the second half.
It’s a game I recommend with an asterisk next to it. Maybe have a guide at standby if you really want to see as much as possible in a single playthrough, though you will not see everything.

10. The Last of Us 2 (PS4, physical, played on PS5)
Jesus, this was a lot more depressing than the first one and left me disliking both main characters, but it was still a great game. The violence and brutality are so far ramped up and I appreciate the LGBT representation. It's hard to play as Abby at the start but you do warm up to her as you see how well she treats Lev (but you still can't forgive her first transgression) , and you get more and more frustrated with Ellie as revenge corrupts her. Gameplay wise though is still great, just be prepared for some darkness.

11. Resident Evil Village: Shadows of Rose (PS5)
Picked up the Winters Expansion when it was on sale, fancied something quick to get one more game in 2023. Played the base game back in 2020 I think. Enjoyed this DLC a lot, the dollhouse bit was easily the best part of the game, but Masked Duke's castle very good as well. Was hilarious all the crap they do to avoid showing Ethan's face.

25th game of 2023 completed (and the last one I'd say). Ironically, it's The Last Door, a very retro looking point and click (late 80s early 90s look) which actually is quite atmospheric due to the great score and story. Very HP Lovecraft with a bit of The Wicker Man thrown in. Not too difficult and was a bargain when it was 2 quid on the eshop. twitter.com/X_Burnside_X/status/1741415750274003182?t=_i01LJJEpq-ggkb2wSntAQ&s=19
