That Lesnar reasoning surely isn't what they'll go with? The logical explanation is right there, Brock can't challenge Roman for the title and Cody didn't win and bring the title back in play for Brock, so he paid for it 🤣
They've booked themselves into a real hole with some of this, they can make it right but I don't think anything they'll do now will garner anything like the reaction they'd have got to Sami winning in Montreal or Mania, or Cody winning at Mania. They had the hottest story in wrestling for years and put it on the back-burner right before Wrestlemania for Cody to have his moment...then didn't give him his moment. Even if they have Cody win it at Summerslam or wherever it just feels to me like they'll be correcting a mistake. Maybe they won't even go with him, Jey Uso feels like the other logical option but his interaction with Sami on Smackdown showed some real cooling off there, with a similar thing having happened, you tease and tease and tease and eventually people just don't care as much.

He'll come out on Raw tomorrow, announce that he will become WWE Universal champion one day before Brock comes out and beats his ass down again.
I think they'll have Brock vs. Cody as the main event for Backlash.

Codyverse in WWE sounds wild. I want Cody to get a svengali-like hold on Vince and get a blank check to write his own stuff however he wants it as long as he doesn't mess with titles. I want to see Codyverse in its most unfettered. In AEW? That f***ing sucked because I like AEW. But WWE? It'd genuinely be captivating and better than a lot of what goes on in Vinceland. Bring it. Bring it at its most insane. Cody's going to set himself on fire and moonsault off each corner of the Fight Pit cage. Ron Simmons is going to come out and cut a promo on him for no reason talking about he's a snake and it will never come up again. Cody will get a bunch of NXT rookies to hang around him wearing Cody jackets but when his opponents beat them up after the bell of matches Cody won't do anything to help them. Cody's weight belt will have a weight belt and that nested weight belt will get more character development than Seth Rollins. Cody will talk about how he has to beat Carmelo Hayes so his daughter never knows a world with racism in it. We're in for something beautiful.

It already feels like a Codvverse is forming just off of how much no one cared he lost or even acknowledged his existence even within the Bloodline story by Smackdown
No one came out to help when Brock killed him, no one cared that he lost to Roman, and Kevin and Sami seemed to act like he was never even a part of their plans to try and take down The Bloodline or even an ally to begin with, it's like when he lost, his presence within main storylines fractured, much like how the Codyverse came to be to begin with in AEW
It'd be wild if he took the same sort of hard left off a cliff he did in AEW when he didn't win the big one there, but in WWE form... at the very least we might get some crazy chaos out of WWE completely fumbling the bag and ruining everything at Mania if this is really how it goes...

I think that’s just the old WWE problem of just about all feuds being in their own bubble. Like, Seth Rollins has barely interacted with most of the roster the last few months, does that mean there’s a Sethverse?
The fact that we got some kind of crossover build at all with Rhodes, Zayn and Owens is almost a miracle.
