Rock dropped another promo. It's not 21 minutes, but it's some awesome f***ing old school heel stuff. Makes me wonder if Rock/Cody might happen at SummerSlam regardless of the Mania outcome. Force Ghosts of Terry Funk, Gary Hart & Ernie Ladd look on with approval at the Rock's slander if the Rhodes. |

He's gonna hand a bloody belt to mama rhodes, and Philly is gonna RIOT Terrific promo. I skipped his long-winded 20 minute ones lol. But that was fantastic. I predict Night One is gonna end with Rock handing a bloodied belt to Mama Rhodes. And it's the way it should end now--it will set up Cody beating Reigns on Night 2 perfectly |

I realize it's probably a remnant of when the idea was for the Bloodline to take Cody out but I do rather wish they'd rolled with the idea that the Rumble ending suggested where Heyman and Roman looked genuinely rattled that Cody won. There's time to integrate that story beat in still but it feels like a missed opportunity how nothing's really come of it.

Rock's work has been awesome, but on the whole this entire thing sucks. Roman, the guy pushed as the most dominant champion of this era and possibly ever has bee completely Miz-ed in the build to the f***ing title match at Mania.
Like, this entire thing has been done to put Rock over so far and he hasn't gotten nearly the hatred he should for it. This is HHH at his worst level bad.

It's been alluded to, and they've had Roman have moments where he seems bothered by it, but they haven't really drawn a huge amount of attention to it. My guess is the face-to-face segment on Friday is where Cody really goes in on him and starts creating dissention between Roman/Rock. |

With the way this has been built up the past couple of weeks, I can't help but get the impression that Cody Rhodes is going to lose at WrestleMania.
With the fact they wanted to shoehorn The Rock over Cody to begin with, it doesn't give me confidence that Endeavor have confidence in Cody and their plan wasn't to crown him at WrestleMania.
Feels like they might put Roman over to spite the fans. You want Cody? Here he is and he loses, again. This Roman Reigns title reign has the WWE doing the biggest business of all time. They're just now getting cooking with The Rock. Paul Heyman says we're only in the 3rd inning.
I'm sure Roman, Dwayne, Gerwitz, and Heyman are pushing hardcore for Roman to retain. When your company is doing record business, don't kill the Golden Goose.
It kind of seems like Cody's story is going to be the same as his dad's, at least for now. I could be wrong, but reading the tea leaves, man it seems like it's gonna be Roman wins, lol.
I just saw Roman Reigns on the Pat Macafee show saying he wants to do this for another decade. Roman has been champion for 4 years, Cody has been back around 2. The WWE is onto something special and even if the original plan was to put Cody over, when you see revenues continuing to increase and a storyline that can explode with the inclusion of The Rock, I can see people getting cold feet around the big show and a last second change being made.
It really is starting to seem like it's not going to happen for Cody. I mean, they've already changed the plan multiple times already, 0% chance that Roman retaining isn't on the table. This is a company that sold advertising space to the scummiest product possible, all they care about is money and unless you've been living under rock:

WWE has ended each 10th Wrestlemania (10, 20, 30) with a triumphant babyface winning for the feelgood moment, so Cody’s win would fit that category. Plus, as this is the first Mania fully under TKO, they may want to signal that new era is here with a Rhodes win. |

I’m not saying I don’t have faith but I do feel like they need to use this opportunity to shake off the last remnant of Vince style “Swerve for the sake of it” booking that pretty much served most of the post WCW times, never mind the last decade.
So Cody should win. And because of last year and the stumbles they did to really emphasize that this year will be different, I can’t say he will yet.
