So is it an overreaction to think this dropped ball and subsequent bitchifying could be on the ballot for Wrestlecrap 2023? WrestleCrap is typically stuff that's unilaterally hated. The response to Cody's stuff right now is still mostly positive when you look outside the four walls of this particular corner of the internet, so I think it's hard to call it WrestleCrap. If Cody starts talking about his high school girlfriend that was a cheerleader and goes to funeral homes, though, watch out.

It can still go that way if he doesn’t win the Brock feud or through other means, but there’s still a path to him on top and a satisfying conclusion to his story.

Or if he goes "while my father was a common man, I'm anything but common. I'm a standout, a superstar. Some might call me...uncommon." Enter "Uncommon Man" Cody Rhodes, the next big heel on NXT. Let me not give them any ideas.

It’s been far too long since I got funky like a monkey.

I watched the Dusty documentary from A&E last night, and there was an interesting segment where Cody and some of the other talking heads were talking about Dusty losing to Flair in a couple of big matches and getting bitched out through the early 80s.
They were really hammering home the idea that they wanted the crowd to not only really hate Flair and be desperate to see him lose, but also get to the point of feeling like Dusty couldn't do it, so when he did it was not only a relief, but also a surprise.
It genuinely sounded like the trash HHHunter and Heyman were spinning this result in to.
Knowing how much HHHunter loves that period of NWA, I can genuinely now see the attempt to replicate that here, I dont know that is has worked as I dont think the crowds today want stories like that (I know I dont), but I am now at least convinced that is what they were/are going for. Now we just wait for Cody's version of 'Hard Times.'

We're only in April and Vince hasn't ran roughshod with his insanity, CM Punk hasn't done anything stupid in a few weeks, and the UFC hasn't invaded the WWE yet. We're sure to get some serious WRESTLECRAP before the year is over.

Cody isn't mad at all that he was screwed out of the title in the main event of Wrestlemania. Now he wants a match against Brock at Backlash instead of wanting a rematch. Look how they have massacred Cody. I mean he was trying to get the rematch before Brock attacked him, and given Reigns is mostly absent, I can see the need for the immediate u-turn to Brock

The simple fact is, Cody isn’t Dusty.
Cody’s entrance alone shows how stupid trying to make him like Dusty is.
Dusty had that “common man” aura that Cody simple doesn’t.

This Brock thing would make so much more sense if Cody was the champion.
Honestly these last three shows have made me even more convinced Cody should have won at Mania.

Honestly The Bloodline stuff has been boring the last three shows. It feels like nothing has changed.
Also why have Cody and KO/Sami randomly stopped helping each other out)

There's a whole generation of viewers that don't remember things like Austin pacing the back lot going on a rampage after being screwed the night before, or heels having to watch their back constantly so they don't get got.
I hate to use this term.. but I remember when the heels were the pussies, not the faces.

I remember when Seth Rollins attacked a bunch of heels before they could be named guest referee by Baron Corbin, people said that Seth was a dick for being proactive.
