Cody isn't mad at all that he was screwed out of the title in the main event of Wrestlemania. Now he wants a match against Brock at Backlash instead of wanting a rematch. Look how they have massacred Cody.
There's a whole generation of viewers that don't remember things like Austin pacing the back lot going on a rampage after being screwed the night before, or heels having to watch their back constantly so they don't get got.
I hate to use this term.. but I remember when the heels were the pussies, not the faces.
Even back in Hogan's days as the All American clear cut babyface he would give as good as he got against a heel. If you used a weapon against him he'd use it right back and he'd rake eyes and used closed fists if he'd have to. |

Hogan was cheating his ass off but it was okay because the other guy was cheating even more and you might get one over on Stone Cold, but next week he’s literally going to try to murder you. LMAO
I think that one thing that is missing from modern wrestling are heels that cheat just because they’re heels. Dudes used to always grab the ropes for leverage, distract the ref while they’re manager laid some shots in, choke someone with the strap of their singlet, etc. Now it’s just matches where the dividing line between heel and face is so thin that they’re just some weird amalgam of the two and no one is usually the better for it. 🤷🏻♂️

I honestly think that Vince is so ethically warped that he no longer knows what a babyface is supposed to be anymore, so he just assumes that they're dipshits who won't fight dirty, EVER, and therefore always lose.
Like I said, there was a time when a babyface getting screwed made the audience go "Well, they (the babyface) are gonna kill him the next time they get their hands on them (the heel)", and there's just.. none of that anymore.

That kind of plays into another part of what makes this Roman shit so frustrating, no one's even allowed to get to him by beating up his flunkies because they're also invincible and have to be super goddamn protected at all possible turns for years on end. At most faces get to sass at Paul Heyman who then responds by just completely burying them.

Exactly, if they’re saying Roman is the greatest yet Roman’s only winning because of his family members and nobody really acknowledges that (Ha), it’s people putting in that isn’t described in the text. It’s very much the equivalent of Max Landis trying to convince everyone HHH had one long story arc starting from the Hunter Hearst Helmsley days which, objectively, just isn’t true if you watch any of the product from 1996 onwards. If they’re not saying it to you, especially with enough hours of television to do that, it’s not what they want to sell their audience on. Talent and announcers mention the cheating all the time… |
