Exactly, if they’re saying Roman is the greatest yet Roman’s only winning because of his family members and nobody really acknowledges that (Ha), it’s people putting in that isn’t described in the text. It’s very much the equivalent of Max Landis trying to convince everyone HHH had one long story arc starting from the Hunter Hearst Helmsley days which, objectively, just isn’t true if you watch any of the product from 1996 onwards. If they’re not saying it to you, especially with enough hours of television to do that, it’s not what they want to sell their audience on. Talent and announcers mention the cheating all the time… They typically do, but for some reason it rarely seems to be brought up in relation to Roman. In the build to Sami vs Roman, he and Cody had a conversation about whether it was possible to overcome Roman. He was being presented as a world beater rather than a dirty heel who constantly cheats. Few if any of the people facing him have called this out and I don't recall announcers really bringing it up either. It's ever present, but like the proverbial elephant in the room, no one seems to acknowledge it.

I want Cody to start walking around with a bald eagle on his shoulder and putting people through fire tables screaming “is that enough struggle” and chugs Mountain Dew pitch black before every match

If it's mentioned at all it's in the background instead of it being the DEFINING CHARACTERISTIC of his title reign. They talk about him like he's legit God Mode. He's not. He's a heel who's enjoying the hell out of manipulating his family. I just figure this is Roman's last hurrah, and they want to prop him up as much as possible, but it's beyond irritating when as you said it's the elephant in the room. If he were this guy as a badass face, he would be f***ing OVER. He's already over, but "Takes no shit and legit WINS" Tribal Chief is money.

To put it basically, one of the traits that HHH had as a heel, especially with Flair, is how Jim Ross or whoever would say “If it wasn’t for Flair/Orton/Batista/whoever, _____ would be champion right now” because that’s objectively true from what we know of the show.
You can’t have them bring up the constant cheating and need for help and then call him God tier when that’s just objectively not true. If he just killed people and was merciless like he was at the start of his Tribal Chief time, it can be justified. Hell, what made Clash at the Castle more exciting was that the Usos and Heyman wouldn’t be there and that made the Solo debut shocking (albeit shit because it kind of undermined the whole concept just for another Anoa’i member to show up and help but still). But again, still he was hyped as conquer when he would have lost if not for that.
It’s two different stories counteracting, especially when going with one would solve a lot of the issues people have.

Years ago, on my OG account, I said that Roman really needed to be booked like Kevin Nash/Diesel. He doesn't raise his voice, he's the coolest guy in the room, and he will absolutely destroy you like he's annoyed that you made him have to try.
I meant that as a face, though.
"God-Mode" works as a heel delusion.. long as the f***ing announcers don't sell it and say it for what it is.

Those episodes of JCP/WCW put over how good the Horsemen were....and they also call them scumbags for all the shortcuts and how they play it off like they're in the right. That's how they should discuss Roman. "We know you're that good but why you gotta be a complete dick about it?"

That kind of plays into another part of what makes this Roman shit so frustrating, no one's even allowed to get to him by beating up his flunkies because they're also invincible and have to be super goddamn protected at all possible turns for years on end. At most faces get to sass at Paul Heyman who then responds by just completely burying them. The Usos and Sikoa are like the Streets of Rage 4 low-tier enemies with f***ing super armor whenever they're flashing.

I see this has been mentioned across multiple threads, I don't think it's as illogical as is being made out. It's entirely possible for Roman to be a world beater, one of the greatest of all time, and still cheat to win. The balance of his career clearly shows he is very difficult to beat. But with the people he's facing at these events are also very good too. Obviously individuals can like whatever they want, but the massive popularity of the character suggests the majority of the WWE's audience are buying how he is presented.

So after watching the Dusty Biography... Cody is going to try and not succeed several times to defeat Roman. Then Cody finally beats Roman at next year's Mania.

By the time Cody wins a bunch of us are already going to be sick of him because his 10th day as champ will feel like his 300th... just like what happened with Roman. Once the dude finally became the top guy it already felt old and stale because the writing was on the wall for years.

Hopefully they don't do the old Roman strat of hiding Cody in the midcard for 3/4ths of the year only to book him as a world beater come 'Mania season.

SRS reporting that Cody’s been in talks for movie roles, including Johnny Cage in an upcoming Mortal Kombat and a role in a potential Zelda movie.
If he’s going to take time off to film something then how bad would Brock have to kill him to actually write him off for a while if he didn’t even miss a week after that last 10 minute beating.

I wonder how much work it will take to cover up the neck tattoo each day before filming.

It's okay, he can wear that hideous scarf that in no way immediately calls attention to the fact something must be going on with the dude's neck.
