Is the implication that he’s a bitch because he’s happy he won different kinds of belts? That he’s settling for this and this constitutes “finishing the story”? Interestingly, Michael Cole addressed this on Raw during an in-ring interview with Cody, though that may be WWE subtly telling us that Cody will get himself back on track sooner rather than later. |

I like Nakamura’s motivation for going after Cody. Continuity usually makes for good writing, they should use it more often.

If he loses one again at Wrestlemania 40.
What becomes of the gimmick, the storyline and more importantly the man Cody Rhodes if he indeed loses again at Wrestlemania?
Are we talking his credibility is completely shot? Or can he be salvaged yet again for a potential Rhodes vs. Reigns 3 at Wrestlemania 41?

Everyone's been saying Cody's been shot since he arrived and with each obstacle that he overcomes the goalpost gets moved more and more. If he somehow loses again then yeah the goalpost will be moved again because that's how it is with him. Each Cody thread is just about whatever the new "Rhodes Stopper" of the week is.
So to this nah, if he somehow lost again then the fans will still be behind him. It'll just be a more difficult story to tell but alas, they've done it before. They did it with the Lesnar feud, they did it when other major babyfaces were cheered, did it with Wargames, did it when Punk arrived and people thought he was done, did it with the Rock stuff like this Rumble match shut all that Rock shit up that dudes were clowning about. It's just always something new.
Cody's pretty much the only male babyface in the company who can have a setback and still overcome it. He's good.

It is going to be much harder building to the same match one year down the line if Cody loses. And if Cody fails once again, the very idea of doing Rhodes vs Reigns at Wrestlemania 41 is just asinine. There is the issue of The Rumble showed that the reign of Roman is spent and that the drama is sucked out of it. At the Trop masses of people where going to the toilets and concessions during the title match because everyone knew that Roman was going to retain after one of his cousins stopped him from losing. Roman needs to drop the title at 'mania. |
