I'm still going with Cody vs. Roman at Mania, this is just done to draw it out a bit and build tension. Cody will make his decision most likely at the Elimination Chamber and declare that he will face Roman again. It’s to make a few weeks of TV time since Seth’s hurt and the main event on Raw is down to Drew and Sami (the guy literally named “Main Event” is destined for an IC Title match). |

Y'know, with Punk out for however long, I'm not sure I'd be that surprised if they did switch it to Cody/Seth. And still have him job. If that happens, WWE might as well tell Cody to drink out of a doggy bowl and tell him to drag his taint on the carpet. |

I feel like sometimes people just want the company to do the wrong thing so they can be proven right. Then, when Cody wins at Mania, ppl will turn around and go “omg, so predictable.” It’s silly.

I think a *lot* of that goes back to the whole "Misery Booking" thing that creative seemed to be really fond of for a good while. And predictable doesn't have to mean bad. Sometimes the most obvious route is the right route. |

Plus, I think Seth stays off TV at least until the Raw after EC. No point in doing this excessive travelling during a down time for WWE before it really picks up to Mania. While Cody does indeed sit there and ponder each week. He can ask Liberty, Brandi and Pharaoh along the way. |

guys random thought and I know I'm spitballing something crazy, but... What if Cody challenges for both titles and they are gonna go with a unification? With Punk out, Cody is the only white hot face imo. He can face Seth night 1 but he must win to get to Roman night 2. Of course that makes night 1 ultra predictable. I think Roman is just about done so maybe they don't want two world champions anymore?

I don’t understand what people want sometimes lol if Cody went right to challenging Roman the same people would be criticizing it for making Seth and the other title look unimportant. Seth SHOULD want Cody to challenge him, they SHOULD be trying to make the other title seem important.

It’s the thing they run into after every Rumble. There’s just so much time to kill until Mania. So even though everyone and their brothe knows where this is headed, we have to stall for time. But it’s no big deal and will be forgotten the moment Cody challenges Roman.

I thought that whole segment tonight was really good even if I don't buy for a second he'll go after seth I agree and I think it will look better in hindsight if this planted the seeds for Gunther to challenge Rollins. The wording of the night-after-night matches, the "Workhorse" etc. It all seems like words that Gunther would have claim to as well. Then we have Gunther challenge for the world heavyweight championship but not for a unification match - give him an IC title defense either earlier in the night or night one. Then if/when he wins, give him both belts but not in any sort of unified reign - but him choosing to follow the obligation of defending both the IC title and the world title in separate matches. Some nights you can double-dip him, other nights you can have him only defend one. Really opens up some fun new areas to explore if you want a believable money in the bank cash in on the world title without interruptin the IC reign. Or have someone challenge him for the world title and fail, but want to beat Gunther so bad that Pearce only lets them challenge for the IC belt and then they win, ending the historic reign while Gunther continues to be champion. I think there's a lot with a non-unified double champion that they can explore that could be wholly fresh and new. |
