So does Cody win the title from Seth and prematurely win a world title before beating Roman or does he come up short again? Both options kind of suck.

None of which matters because they've already blown this storyline The end game was Mania, not Roman dropping the belt on a lesser PPV, and that's on WWE for having built it up like that I don't think Roman's losing the belts there either. Glad my response to the question doesn’t matter. I’m not even opining on whether I think this will be fine or not yet Your response is fine I'm just responding to the point of "Well maybe Cody will win here" and after over two years of this disappointment just makes everything feel moot in the end, they just blew it in a way that is almost unfathomable.

Oh, you just know they're doing this shit to try and distract everyone from the investigation into Vince. They're trying to Blizzard it.

Yeah apparently plans changed for this too, Cody got screwed over after the Rumble if Meltzer is correct Fun isn't it? How terrible the booking still is? We don't know where the booking is headed though. This is the big problem with the insistence on screaming that the sky is falling here. Refusing to even step back and wait on something because THE WORST MUST ALWAYS HAPPEN EVEN IF IT'S NOT is completely nonsensical. Are you saying we should wait and see? Cause, I heard that tune before.

From WWE.com:
The Rock challenged Roman Reigns to a WrestleMania match as Cody Rhodes shunned The Tribal Chief!
Even the f***ing write up makes no sense.

So when this thread was bumped last Saturday and I did ask people.
If they stretch it to Wrestlemania 41 would you still be invested?
So, will you still be invested if Cody wins the title from Roman now at Wrestlemania 41?
He wins the 2025 Royal Rumble to get that match?
And becomes the first ever 3 time Rumble winner.
Finish that story?

He'll probably beat Seth then get cashed in on, so that he doesn't choke but still doesn't get anything out of it. Then he has to win the Rumble a THIRD time so he can give the title shot to Goldberg who loses anyway.

It's not nonsensical when it ALWAYS HAPPENS in the WWE and when it comes to Roman's title reign that has been the exact scenario and ending for over FOUR YEARS. I legit don't know what to tell you at this point dude, your cope on the situation is still an admission that WWE blew this storyline because even if Roman vs Cody happens at EC, he got f***ed out of Mania. They should be ashamed of themselves for giving into The Rock. F*** him too for this.

This is really stupid, but I think it's happening. There's no reason to have Cody say he isn't doing it at Mania if he isn't. If it was a swerve to set up a triple threat, you'd have more weeks of Cody agonizing his decision. I think it's happening and they're either A) panicking because of the Seth/Punk injuries or B) Rock is insisting on Mania because EC wouldn't be on a prime US viewing time. Want to confirm before I sell my Night 2 ticket but I'm only flying across if it was Cody/Roman. I FULLY SUPPORT THIS DECISION NOW. I was looking forward to bullying you.

You know what they say, fool me once, shame on you, fool me 1,378,224 times, shame on me. There’s really no “good” outcome at this point unless they fully pivot into Cody/Roman for the title at Mania which is obviously not happening. Cody winning the title at EC would do absolutely nothing to mitigate this justifiable backlash.

Oh, you just know they're doing this shit to try and distract everyone from the investigation into Vince. They're trying to Blizzard it. I’m sure that’s part of it, but from a practical perspective you’ve lost CM Punk and Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins is badly injured. They called in star power. Does that distract from Vince? Sure, but I don’t think that’s the main reason here.

I'm willing to let things play out and I firmly believe in the end that this will end well. So no, there's no "coping" here. There never was.

I appreciate people trying to be positive, but I also don't blame anyone for being down and expecting the worst. HHH has changed some things for the better, but WWE is still the same in a lot of ways.

From Dave:
Dwayne pushed super hard for it. Read last week's issue and this week's. The card changed when Punk & Brock were out and all the dominoes fell. Dwayne already wanted it and they felt they now needed it as well. Felt this was better to change the news flow away from Vince.
Cody was the plan. Dwayne was going to face him later, maybe next year's Mania, maybe Saudi. Shit happens with Vince and Punk, the Vince thing ends up worse than they thought and they changed the plan. I literally didn't know until yesterday that it could change and then I was told it's under lock. But 100% it was Punk vs. Seth and Cody vs. Reigns until Punk got hurt.
