With Lacey it's really weird in that they do kind of give her these occasional spotlights and bits like they're wanting her to be a giant deal, like when she was getting built up in the lead-up to the Rumble and trying to put over her new finisher and the like and then she was in the match for a decent while, but then she was just kind of tossed unceremoniously and has done nothing of note since then.
I think it's just kind of a thing where every now and then they get it in their head to push her, then have a moment of, "Wait, she actually kind of is completely terrible and can't stop saying stupid shit on Twitter, let's not," but for some reason they have no object permanence about it and keep trying again eventually.

they turned cody from tom brady to nathan peterman, it is sick and undeserved To bring another sports analogy into this, one could say WWE dropped the ball harder than Luis Castillo.
Now I hate myself for referencing that awful moment in Mets history. -__-
Since we're using sporting analogy lol. That gif kinda reminds me of Steven Gerrard's infamous slip against Chelsea in 2014 when Liverpool needed 7 points out of the last 3 games to finally win the title. Stevie's slip led to the first goal for Chelsea who beat us 2-0 that day. Something that he's remembered for as much as anything else unfortunately.

She just seemed like someone they had plans for but could never quite agree on what those exact plans were. The way she was booked last year was weird, what with her having a well-received babyface promo lead into her having to repeat the promo again and again while they weren't sure of what alignment she was or even what show she was on. Even with it being Lacey, it was still odd.

If the endgame was Omos winning the belt then I guess I'm okay with the Cody loss now. You win this round, WWE.

I don't think HHH is a great booker, or even a good booker(You have to be able to you know, pay off a storyline), but he's not a mummy who's pulse is still stuck in 1985. HHH on the main roster booking wise still did a lot of shit I didn't like For one the tag division is a wreck, and one of the teams he tried to push in his era below the Usos were The Viking Raiders with Valhalla... which has been an absolute fart of a gimmick and would have been even is Sarah Logan wasn't a piece of shit. The de-emphasis on Ridge and Butch for The Banger Bros to get a tag title run just to also lose to the Usos really pissed me off too, such an entertaining team but they and Imperium never and may never get tag title runs because of how long the Usos held them... but The Brawling Brutes really became non-entities for way too long for how good they are and how much they proved themselves, especially Ridge, who I really came around on. And the women's divisions... haven't been good. Damage CTRL has had a ton of problems and have basically just been used as fodder on the latter half of their run, and the lower end division is all a joke, me and EOE ran stats on this a few weeks ago but the women he called back outside of Damage CTRL's win records were atrocious and still pretty much are. Woman like Piper, Cross, LaRae, "Mitchin", Emma, Sonya, Chelsea, Tegan, Xia... they're all just warm bodies for the main event women to catch and haven't done much of anything outside of Chelsea who has really made the gimmick work. And they're STILL trying to make Lacey Evans a thing... guh. Idk how much input on the Bray storyline's have been Bray and how much have been HHH but the whole storyline since his return promo has been a mess and it never got any better And LA Knight despite getting over and damn near taking over the Wyatt storyline because of it has been nothing but a jobber and didn't even make the Mania card in any capacity DESPITE actually getting the LA Smackdown crowd to give a single shit about the Andre Battle Royal... till he was eliminated Not even factoring any of that in, his NXT booking could be very hit and miss... as we saw with how he would book Gargano vs Ciampa, one last time... for the fifth time lol But was the product actively more watchable and easier to digest without Vince in charge? Yes, absolutely, not even a question lol The thing I will always side eye is how the narrative from Triple H in recent months became he hired all those people back for roster depth. Which in some cases I can buy, but when every news outlet is saying that after his return Karrion Kross was listed in internal memos as the number 2 heel on Smackdown and for him to fall like a rock down the card? Yeah I'm calling BS. I've said many times I think Triple H made a lot of missteps when he took over. I think he misjudged how much bad booking had killed a lot of acts he wanted to push... and in cases of Kross how much the fanbase actually liked them (or in Hit Row's case how much the group was carried by Swerve). Like objectively Triple H did do a lot of good in a short amount of time, but after the initial couple of months I think it was more that he wasn't Vince and that AEW had bad vibes around it that gave him a pass rather than he was booking an amazing show. He booked the Bloodline well and Gunther but honestly IMO that's really all worth writing home about.

It's been the case with her for most of her tenure. They had her go after Bayley and played up her as this badass military Mom. She was actually over. It was working. Then she lost. The got mocked a whole lot and lost some more.

The got mocked a whole lot and lost some more. I actually kind of liked the direction they were seemingly taking her late last year/early this year, as a female version of early-80s Sgt. Slaughter - a violent, villainous, megalomaniacal drill sergeant of sorts. But given WWE's close ties to the U.S. military, I could see how they'd balk at really diving into a character that portrays the armed forces in a negative light.

Then they stopped doing stuff with her, she said dumb shit (again) and here we are. Honestly, her as a badass babyface (think Sonya Blade) would have been a great direction too

Lacey's biggest enemy is herself. She never really looks good in the ring, and she is a complete moron on social media. I think WWE is gunshy about pushing her because she just constantly screws up and is a massive PR headache.

He's always been a genuine wrestling fan. It's been nice hearing him get to be one. Plus stories of Cole being a huge booze bag, Cole dropping F bombs (I still believe that the little kid that called in to yell “f*** Boston Connor” is in fact Michael Cole’s long lost son) and making fun of Pt for not actually being undefeated at WM is hiliarious. That's a different Michael Cole.

One of my takeaways this weekend is just like...really I miss the HHH/Dusty/Ryan Ward NXT booking team cuz whatever the f*** the current thing is isn't it. 95% of his major story beats are just heat or continuing endless champions being endlessly the champion. WWE is better since he took over creative but it feels like every time they get the chance to do something truly great they continue the "default to shocked fan reaction" misery booking mode. And that's not even including the stuff like a ton of the major returns floundering, the women's title scenes being trash...just blegh. Mod Edit: On P17 it is being reported on WOL that Vince is completely in charge of creative again as of this past weekend because of the Endeavor sale. The long title reigns, and I guess heel winning, are no surprise. Given how much Hunter loved Crockett, which never figured out how to blow off the bad guy(s).

All this talk about top bookers like Trips preferring long heel runs has me wondering what wrestling bookers past or present sticks with dominant faces and good guy champs?

All I know is black and gold NXT from 2015-2021 was one of the most enjoyable eras of wrestling to me anyway. As I know ewd said HHH had a lot of help with it but he was a huge part.
