In retrospect, it might have been for the best, but whenever that time was where Ryback could have been WWE champion. Eh, I think the problem was that Ryback should have been feuding with Miz for the IC title and had a dominating reign for that. He was super rushed into a main program because Cena got hurt and he just wasn't ready.

I was ok with Sting losing to HHH. He should have won, but he was facing another legend who had a few years less mileage on him.
The worse offender was Sting losing to Seth Rollins. The way it was set up made Sting look like complete garbage. Seth had to fight two matches back to back. He fights Cena first and loses. He should be easy pickings after being battered by Cena. Nope! Rollins beats Sting despite the deck stacked against Rollins.

You remember how that Sting v Rollins match ended right?

I mean literally take your pick with Roman's current run. Shinsuke Nakamura is the biggest one I can think of. He was so popular! They did it too him twice too. He should have won at SummerSlam. He managed to remain popular after that. Popular enough to win the Rumble, but they again ruined it by having him loose at Wrestlemania. He never recovered, and WWE lost what could have been a huge star. See I don't think it was the Mania lose that killed him. It was that after he turned heel... they never let him win. So he became a paper tiger, we're supposed to think he's some massively dangerous dude... but he never actually won ever... his entire run with AJ ended in double count outs, double dqs, and him losing... heel or face no one's going to care about a guy that can't win.

I don't think Sting losing to HHH hurt him at all... the biggest problem with that match was well... the match... Sting for weeks pointing out that this isn't about WCW and it would be stupid for him to try and defend WCW NOW....
to the commentators start basically hyping him up as the big hero of WCW... to the match where DX interfere on HHH's behalf... and then the original NWO run interference on Sting's behalf...
which... has so many problems... in kayfabe the NWO are WWF guys that went to WCW to take it over, Sting was basically their biggest rival, THE NIGHT BEFORE we saw Hall and Nash posing and palling around with Hunter, Shawn, and X-pac...
and also the end of the match handshake was massively out of place... I could see it being Sting's idea too... but... it's unfitting to the story that was told in the ring.
As for Rollins vs. Sting... yeah... I'm not going to hold how that went down against anybody.

Sami’s loss in Montreal is especially dumb when you’re not even going to have Cody go over at Mania. LMAO at that booking.

CM Punk at Night of Champions 2011. Beat me to it lol. Pissed me off at 12 years old, pisses me off now at 23. Overbooked garbage with the quasi-retired guy going over the hottest act in the company at the time for what? So stupid. Even dumber was having Punk be all buddy-buddy with Hunter and teaming up with him at Vengeance only a month later.

Luger should've pinned Yoko at Summer Slam.
I've got others but they've been mentioned lol.

Luger should've pinned Yoko at Summer Slam. I've got others but they've been mentioned lol. or at the very least... be pissed off that he won by count out... and not do the massive celebration. That said you could probably use Luger multiple times in this thread.

Both have been mentioned but it's Goldberg at Summer 03 and Asuka at Mania 34 for me. Both actively derailed their careers and the title scene as a whole.
Somebody at Summer 03 should have called an audible when they heard that response for Goldberg. The post-match angle was good but they could have just done it the next night on Raw.

Spike Dudley should have beaten Mike Awesome for the belt at ECW Guilty as Charged.
Seriously.
That entire 2000 of ECW looks drastically different (for the better) if that happens. No more Awesome leaving with the title, a top face fans believe in to draw the houses while RVD's recovering, ECW maintaining being a true alternative while WCW and WWF were obsessed with misery booking by giving the fans a feel good what-they-want result.
People tend to forget how massively Spike was over and genuinely credible that Spike was going into that title match.
Speaking of ECW (which WWF was bankrolling at the time so it counts) -
Al Snow should have pinned Shane Douglas for the title at Wrestlempalooza 98 as not only was Snow massively over, but Shane was injured and about to have surgery that would put him out of action for the larger part of the rest of the year. By all account WWF gave the blessing for Snow to win the belt and had a verbal permission to defend and eventually lose it, but Heyman still bafflingly stuck with Shane.

The original (for me, at least): After months of enduring insults and having to go through the rest of the Heenan Family, Big Boss Man should have won the IC title from Mr. Perfect at WM 7. Surely there was an SNME or MSG event coming up where he could have dropped it back to Perfect. He transitioned to feuding with The Mountie after WM and could have been hit with his shock stick so to justify it.

Tatanka should have won at WM9, no question about it.
I notice in a lot of Wrestlemanias, faces would win the match but not the title. There was Bossman at 7, Natural Disasters at 8, Tatanka as mentioned, MOM at 10 and Razor at 11.

![](https://s1.dmcdn.net/v/B3tK1EVGhexP0BbB/x1080) 100% serious This is around the time when ol' John started getting "mixed reactions". That said you could probably use Luger multiple times in this thread. Flair thought it was more valuable to put over his buddy Barry Windham for the title, than to put over a red hot Lex Luger.
