Been watching a tonne of Cheers lately, never done a full watch through and currently on Season 7. Diane is the f***ing worst. But for a show that was such a cultural phenomenon, it’s one of the few shows I remember my parents watching religiously, I don’t remember it having any sort of lasting syndicated run. I had seen episodes here and there on channels specifically dedicated to airing retro programming but I don’t remember it having any major syndication run like back to backs on TBS or something like Seinfeld, The Simpsons and even Frasier did About 4 years ago, I tried watching because it's all on Crave. It was ok, but I don't give a f*** about Sam and Diane, and that's the whole point. I watched season 1. All's I could stand. I like Norm and Cliff and whoever Rhea Pearlman was. I've seen episodes here and there from back when it's original syndication run would have happened, so like 1990ish...never liked it then either, but I was like 7, so why would I? Yeah Cheers got better when Diane left and Rebecca came in. With Rebecca, it became more of an ensemble show, and that's when it was it's best.

I would say Boston Legal but it is on Disney+. Interesting show to look back on. Alan and Denny haven't really aged so well with the rampant sexual harrassment but it did at times deal with a lot of real world issues between the general day to day madness of the characters. It did well enough to get 5 seasons but you never really hear it brought up.
Cold Case is another but i think it's on Amazon Prime. Got 7 seasons but never released on dvd due to music licensing. I thought it was a cool show and i liked the whole flashback thing with music from that period. But again no one really brings it up anymore and been a few years since i saw reruns of it.

The Pretender which aired on NBC in the mid 90s ran for 4 seasons with 2 made for TV movies yet still ended on a cliffhanger. I remember Heroes & Icons showed reruns on there for awhile but not anymore. This was at a time when Saturday nights were starting to phase out for live sporting events, and this happened to have been one of the last successful primetime shows.
Note: It turns out the show is available for Amazon Prime Video.

Like I said, currently on Season 7, but the double date episode late in season 5 with Sam and Diane going to Frasier and Lilith’s for supper is probably the funniest f***ing episode I’ve seen so far. I was in f***ing tears laughing at that, it’s honestly one of the funniest 25 minutes of TV I’ve ever watched. EDIT: Unapologetic fan of Bebe Neuwirth here

That show really was cursed Poor Dave Foley being in the middle of it. With his marriage and divorce he had every excuse to become a woman hating misogynist but to my knowledge never went there. From what I remember the rest of the Kids in the Hall also gave him shit for taking the role in the first place. His response was something like all of you said we were done. I assumed that meant we were done.

It was never meant to stay, but any talk show stuff is just baffling years removed. Carson, Letterman, Conan, the comedy set pieces are still good, but the jokes might as well be in an alien language because so much of it you had to be around for and remember the news of the day. Some stuff, OJ, is big enough to remember the references but it’s still so, so dated.

Dinosaurs was pretty popular throughout its run, almost on the same level as the Simpsons for a time. Now if it’s remembered for anything, it’s the finale that ends with their extinction.

ED hasn't been on any DVD or steaming since there's huge tie ups over music rights.

I hated the Sam and Dianne pairing on cheers. On one side you had a guy trying to hide from his personal demons by womanising and on the other you had a woman who made it very clear she viewed herself as slumming it who was using her dating life purely to improve her social standing and seemed to kid herself that was not the case and what she was doing wasn't the same as his actions. Whenever either one looked like they'd found someone who could make them happy, they sabotaged it. There is no way that they wouldn't have ended up one of those couples who resented oneanother long after the messy divorce.

Is Generalisimo Francisco Franco not still dead?

I can only imagine how hard it was for those actors to be on that show. Having to get in those costumes and such.

It was, but it was really the catchphrase of “Not the Momma!!!” That was over. I don’t think anyone actually liked the show.

I'm actually going through old SNLs on Peacock. I'm up to Kevin Nealon's run as anchor.... I forgot just how good he was at it. I've been waiting for Norm, but Kevin has had a nice run. I guess maybe because I remember a lot of the stuff going on, but I've always enjoyed the Weekend Updates.

Early SNL in general is very topical, if you aren't point familiar with what was going on in the world in the late 70's alot of that stuff would just sail right over your head.
