Not recent history but one of their USA contracts was undercutted by them basically going “We can find somewhere else, WGN and others love us”, finding out that they actually didn’t and crawling back through the side flap door for a lesser deal. This obviously hasn’t happened since because it went from “USA Don’t really need you, we can undercut you” to “If you leave USA, we f***ing die” in the last decade and a bit. Did I see you say that the TNT sports deal runs out in the summer ? Summer 2024———————-January 2025 a bit of a gap there to fill. Could they do what they did for NXT and air in on the WWE network ? I’m only going by the fact that the original press release was back in June 2019 which does not mean that’s when the deal started but considering the Sky deal ended around May-June to little fanfare (and I know I write about it a lot but the way WWE basically wrecked their Sky Sports deal should be studied because goddamn), until TNT Sports say something themselves, that’s all I can speculate with. Like, for all we know, an extension until the end of the year could be negotiated as we speak. To your other point, I’d be surprised if Ireland wasn’t lumped in with the UK as it is with other stuff, especially considering that’s how Netflix is categorized as and how TNT Sports can be brought as part of a sports package on Sky and Virgin.

Well as you say the lack of even basic info like whether it will be on Netflix. I know we can assume but I don’t think it’s too much to ask nearly a month after it was first announced to know some more info. An example is that we still don’t know for certain that the WWE network as is now, will transfer over to Netflix.

Like, I need to stress again, this deal got announced just over a month ago for three of the company's biggest markets (UK/Ireland, Canada and Latin America) and none of those providers have said if their deals are ending at the end of this year nor has WWE talked about whether there is plans for people with the Network to transfer over, nor anything about Network content. Some of that could still be ironed out (Network transfer and content specifically) but it's mind boggling that TNT, Rodgers nor Fox LA have said nothing. Not even some kind of "We look forward to finishing up our great relationship with WWE" starter statement and especially since they're all subscription based as far as I know.

So USA will have both Raw and Smackdown for a couple of months. Interesting.

Essentially USA got a good discount to keep the show on to cover WWE until the Netflix deal starts (which always seemed like the most likely outcome):

Along with that, Comcast is trying to get the NBA rights so better for them right now to still have something in that slot to prep for next season rather than basically abandon a well rated day for the sake of it. I will say again, the fact we haven’t heard anything about the UK/Ireland, Canada or Latin America deals right now is mind boggling because, at least from when they first announced extensions or start of deals, those would have ended a lot sooner than USA’s would. BT Sport (now TNT) announced the deal in June 2019, for example.

25 mil for a quarter is a big discount for USA.

25 mil for a quarter is a big discount for USA. It probably helps that its a comcast network so they can afford to take the discount to make them happy since they are continuing the relationship vs. Fox

Well then I guess Collision is staying where it is then, and so is Rampage, unless NXT moves nights going to the CW, that'd be the only way anything budges

Yes!
At least for now, my personal SD on Friday's at 8 and Collision on Saturday's at 8 still exist!

Good to see and not too surprising. Smackdown will get better ratings than anything else they put out there on Friday. Well then I guess Collision is staying where it is then, and so is Rampage, unless NXT moves nights going to the CW, that'd be the only way anything budges I could see a Thursday AEW show being in the cards. Especially if they lose the NBA. They'd be going against the NFL every week in the regular season, and TK doesn't want to do that.

NXT goes to the CW in January, right? I think NXT is moving in either September or October. Raw will move to Netflix in January.

There has been wrestling on Monday's on cable for nearly 40 years. Wrestling has had at least one top 10 show for 30 of those years.
