And somehow lost in it all is that joyrides to the titanic wreckage have been illegal for some time now and that Cameron, along with Ballard, were two of the most influential voices for it.

This thing is now about James Cameron somehow. I mean, should it not be? What other deep sea explorers of public profile are there to talk to? Who have designed subs, know Titanic - I imagine the entire sector is happy someone of Cameron's stature can go on air and make the appropriate criticisms of this dipshit company while defending the safety record and value of real submarine exploration. Allegedly he’s deduced, with the amount of visits he has taken, he’s spent more time at the titanic than the captain himself.

There's a crossover here with the kind of shit that Musk is pulling on Twitter. The demonisation and hostility towards scientists, doctors, experts etc....
The mindset develops where being a rich guy with delusions of their own supremacy overrides warnings from people who know that the tin can he's using to dive into the deep ocean is a death trap.

It's essentially a historical graveyard. I agree that we should leave it alone. We have enough pics of it, so.

I realize this is out of my wheelhouse, but a quick rule of thumb, TRUST THE ENGINEERS. "Challenger, go at throttle up...."

Apollo 1, Challenger, and Columbia, all completely avoidable if those in charge would have listened to people who actually knew what they were talking about.

We know all we are going to know. There are no hidden treasures amidst the wreckage, the records of the Whitestar company alone prove they. It will completely disintegrate on its own in time, we don’t need to hasten the process.

They have super high quality 3D scans of the entire wreck that go into more detail than anyone in a submersible sub could ever see. Anyone that wants to research the Titanic will get more information from those scans than from the wreck itself. There is zero reason to visit the Titanic.

Amazingly, the Xbox controller survived. It's on the ocean floor, but it looks mostly intact.

Those waivers don’t even really hold up for gyms or martial arts training if you have a halfway decent lawyer, there’s no chance of it being a factor here. The person they would be suing was on the sub and outside of a sense of justice, I don't really see the point of rich people suing to get whatever assets are left of that business.

The Thai youth footballers and the Chilean miners got a similar amount of coverage and interest and they were hardly billionaires. People are just interested in outlandish disasters and rescue stories, it's as simple as that.

I’d hoped for a miracle, but sadly I think they were doomed as soon as contact was lost.

Read today he got his carbon on deep discount because Boeing determined it was no longer flight worthy.

Just the thought of being on that small vessel for any amount of time scares the crap out of me. The fact you’re going a couple miles deeper than sunlight can reach water literally scares me as I sit here.
The fact they imploded and died quick is a blessing. I can’t imagine just sitting in a cramped airtight space in pitch blackness waiting to suffocate:
