Why is it the Barbie movie that everybody wants to ride the coattails of? When are we gonna get a Michael Bay directed bio-doc on Niels Bohr?

Looking at the last page I welcome nostalgia for women of the 90s but... I so want a Mighty Max movie.

Why is it the Barbie movie that everybody wants to ride the coattails of? When are we gonna get a Michael Bay directed bio-doc on Niels Bohr? It was less "riding the coattails of a Barbie movie" and more "The Barbie movie was sent to choke the life out of the Nolan movie because Nolan's production company moved from WB to Universal" which makes basically both heading towards the $1bn club even funnier.

Especially given there's real tangible evidence that Barbie did nothing but help Oppenheimer's performance. Even when they have a massive hit, likely the year's biggest, WBD manages to completely fail.

I hate that the takeaway from Barbie's success is "more toy movies!"

Oppenheimer is only $60 million away from dethroning Ant-Man as the most successful quantum physics-based film of 2023.

I know DVDs arent really a big thing anymore, but they could really cash in by having these films packaged together when the home video release comes out.

So as of right now, Barbie is on $1.15bn and Oppenheimer is on around $900m in global earnings.
Lesson for you, kids; Pettiness works. Just not in the way you intend it to work.

I’m thinking of opening a store that just sells suits and pink dresses because you know every couple going to a costume party at Halloween is going as Barbenheimer this year.

So I know I go on about one of my independent cinemas, the Light House, a lot and it’s nowhere near as significant as a big chain but they just said that Barbie is now their most successful movie in their entire history, which probably says a lot for how much the entire Barbieheimer craze did for cinemas like it.
They’re also showing Frances Ha in celebration which, considering it was the first time Greta Gerwig was nominated for an award (Best Actress at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards), makes sense.

Barbie was knocked out of the top spot by Blue Beetle. But, not by much, as it still made $21.5 million, compared to Blue Beetle's $25.4 million. Currently, Barbie sits at $567.1 million domestically & $1.23 billion worldwide! It's just $7 million from passing Super Mario Bros. as the highest domestic grosser of the year. It is currently the #15 highest domestic grosser of all time. Oppenheimer made $10.6 million this past weekend. It currently sits at $285.2 million domestically & $717.8 million worldwide! It's just a little ways away from Inception's $292.6 million domestic gross & $728.5 million worldwide total.

It looks like only Gran Turismo is the only big thing coming out this weekend. I'm guessing Blue Beetle is going to nose dive and Barbie goes back to #1.

It was close, but Gran Turismo barely eked out Barbie, to claim the #1 spot. Gran Turismo pulled in $17.3 million domestically & $53.8 million worldwide, while Barbie pulled in $17.1 million. Barbie currently sits at $594.8 million domestically, making it the biggest domestic grosser of the year, & $1.34 billion worldwide! It sits just behind Super Mario Bros. $1.35 billion worldwide, which is the current mark for top worldwide grosser. Meanwhile, Oppenheimer came in at #4, with $9 million. It has now grossed $300 million domestically & $777.2 million worldwide! It's now Christopher Nolan's 3rd highest-grossing film domestically, surpassing Inception. It sits only behind The Dark Knight($533.7 million) & The Dark Knight Returns($448.1 million).
