He's clearly studied Rock's promo delivery and style but I mean, why wouldn't you try and pick up tips on promos from one of the greatest of all time at them? Like studying Austin's comebacks or Dusty's elbows or so on. I always thought Rock himself was heavily influenced by Ric Flair anyway. Rock made it different just like Knight has.

Wrestlers always crib from those that came before; some of Rock’s phrases like Roody Poo were lifted wholesale from Iceman King Parsons.

The yeah is just like the what? chants. I don’t get the appeal of it myself, it’s not like he’s a great match or anything. Miz is right with it feeling like an attitude era cosplay.

The Miz segment was good, but he got totally outshined by the Miz...
Once again he's ok... But when you compare him to other people there's lots of people better than him.

It’s the “flair” in his delivery that sticks out to me whenever I hear it. Edit: I hear it a lot with MJF too. It makes sense those great on the mic bite from the legends, in the same way many ring-work dudes bite from the wrassling of the greats before them.

Pretty Mid Which is why he's consistently been one of the most over acts in every promotion that he's been in, from NWA wrasslin' to Impact superindy to WWE, for over a decade. I understand not liking the dude but saying that he's not good or effective at his job is either trolling or you don't seem to think that other people exist.

Speaking of Merch his merch is also pretty mid...

No, you did not specifically call him "bad", but let's not pretend that you using mid repeatedly to define him isn't a negative thing.
Things catch fire dude. You're not gonna understand or agree with everything. Sometimes when a bunch of people love something and you don't, it's ok to believe its not for you and to decide it's probably a you thing and not everyone else who is wrong. Right now, Dominik is the most over heel in the company and L.A Knight is the most over face. Shit is weird but ratings are up so I'd get used to it.

Like, look, I've been critical of WWE and how they've conditioned their crowds on a lot of stuff over the past 20 or so years but getting that crowd into you isn't the easiest thing in the world to do sometimes so the fact LA Knight is, and pretty much from the moment he wasn't even called LA Knight (and the fact he got over saying his name when most of that crowd likely doesn't watch NXT at all), is an achievement. Even if you don't like the guy, he's over. Sometimes that's literally all you need in the wrestling business.

Thing is guys who got over far more due to their charisma than their in-ring skills with Rock and Hogan probably the two best examples still had to be able to hold their own in 25-30 minute matches on PPV in order to make it to the main event. If anything the in-ring time and standards are getting longer and higher respectively. Knight is yet to show us he can do that, I hope he gets the chance and proves me wrong but from what I've seen of his shorter matches I have my doubts.
Totally get why the crowd loves him and he should get mic time every week and even a US title run but I don't yet see him as a main eventer in waiting.

I never said anyone was wrong.... my original post was a question if the support was irony. Irony is not a bad thing. Rusev Day is an example of irony getting over. Like a wrestler pretending like every day is their own national holiday is stupid at face value and that is part of the reason why people cheered it so much.

I actually think LA Knight's support is the opposite, he's genuinely won over the audience and has become an organically over act in quick time. He's more of a throwback to how Attitude Era stars got over than a cosplay. And he's probably the last "new" star we will get that was a teenager during the Attitude Era.
Whether he becomes the next Stone Cold or the next Zack Ryder is up to him at this point, WWE seems to be giving him the opportunity.

I think it’s not one thing, but many in this order:
1) His music is amazing. His music is fire. The first second of his music gives the crowd something to look forward to, after a heel segment. The deflated face of the heel says to all. The titantron image of a this man in a microphone means things are going down. It is the complete opposite of “Right To Censor”, which was designed to be annoying.
2) He is just simply good on the microphone. He has lots of funny phrases over the years. An great hand gesture. His voice booms and he hardly stutters. He can come up with funny things in a second. He kind of reminds me of Stone Cold with Rocks voice.
3) This was touched upon by Corey Graves in the After The Bell podcast. People like seeing an older man succeed, especially kids during the main wrestling boom who are now adults. He is relatable to them to anyone switching industries or facing discrimination. This is precisely why I hope Miz really makes fun of him (for heel heat) for being a “40 year old rookie” & “Max Dupri” who worked in “rinky dink secondary & tertiary” companies, and LA Knight points out Miz’s win loss record recently. This will only serve to enhance BOTH LA Knight & The Miz. This is great stuff. I would not be opposed to him winning Roman's title even though it may not happen! As I always said, if age was not a factor for him being fired in 2014, it shouldn’t be now for his push.
4) a heel becoming a babyface will always land

As I always said, if age was not a factor for him being fired in 2014, it shouldn’t be now for his push. Great points but I see him having a snowball in hell’s chance of taking the title from Roman. The world heavyweight title? Much, much better chance down the road. I know he’s suppose to be a “Smackdown” guy, but like that stuff really matters.
