You're so wildly off base here. Wow. OK. First of all, it's no stupider than "too sweeting" or Diesel's black glove hand slaps or the DDP Diamond symbol or any other hand-based show of support for a wrestler. Second, the terminology and gesture also works as a sign of embracing and supporting the LGBTQ+ community as it's a joyful celebration of a term with two openly LGBTQ+ wrestlers with a gesture and wording from a specific part of that community. Finally, is there a child-like joy in it? Of course. But it's not stupid and people aren't doing it "ironically." There's no detached eye-rolling or "isn't this so stupid, can you believe we're doing it" winking at all. Like, at all at all. I'd advise really looking into what ironic support/irony really is before you continue using the word. two sweeting in modern wrestling has a kinda ironic tone to it. Bullet club has some parody roots of the nwo. I def sensed some sarcasm in an interview they had about scissoring day. I'm willing to take an L on this point cause I don't follow. AEW all like that, and I could probably point out some better examples(like Kenny Omega wrestling a blowup doll.) And that blowup example would show you again misunderstanding something you don't watch and what DDT presents in the greater scheme of that realm of underground Japanese culture.

He almost certainly wrestled a blowup doll www.dailymotion.com/video/x4bydvmI mean, google search indicates you are right but I also don't know why you sent me a match where Kota wrestled one? Also, if this is just you saying your preference about what wrestling you like and/or out of date Jim Cornette talking points, it'd be nice to be honest about it instead of arguing semantics?

Hi, big ironic enjoyer of things here, host and main movie supplier to a decade and a half of bad movie nights with my friends, owner of Rob Zombie-themed "Live, Laugh, Love" decor, writer of serious meta-analysis of bad fanfiction like it's a real academic field, but also sincere fan of the most cornball LARP heavy metal where people dress up and sing about unicorns. I'm an expert here. People liking something kinda silly isn't inherently ironic. People can genuinely like something that's fun and a bit dumb even if they also ironically like other stuff that's fun and a bit dumb because it's a different kind of fun and a bit dumb. Wrestling is always fun and a bit dumb, that doesn't mean people are engaging with it on an ironic level, but more specifically, I think if you're not finding ironic support for him within eleven pages of discussion then the enjoyment is probably pretty sincere just as like a baseline.
This thread is weird and maybe OP is being ironic.

Kenny wrestled the blowup doll too. As to the thread though, I haven’t seen any evidence at all that LA Knight is liked ironically. Can you find anyone saying that anywhere else? He’s over because he’s charismatic and he’s a new face to this audience. Kind of like Mr. Kennedy when he got over big.

Kenny definitely wrestled Yoshihiko ("the blow-up doll" as people so rudely call him) but DDT is outright a comedy promotion and I'm of the opinion that you can't use a promotion you've never watched any of as some kind of proof of something you don't actually have enough knowledge to know is actually what's happening in it. Having super gifted wrestlers go up against Yoshihiko is a comedic way for them to show off those talents, and is directly spun off of the claim that a wrestler could have an amazing match with a broom stick. It's outright parody. Not just like being self-aware and cutesy with its tropes, DDT is a comedy promotion. It's not ironic to laugh at comedy.

Also, if this is just you saying your preference about what wrestling you like and/or out of date Jim Cornette talking points, it'd be nice to be honest about it instead of arguing semantics? My point wasn't really about my tastes as much as it was just a question about why he was over. to double back to an earlier point there seems like a 180 on him from being one of the more criticized wrestlers to one of the top while it seems he hasn't really done anything different to warrant a 180. Wrestling is filled with examples people cheering for things because they are absurd, silly, or because it's so bad it's good. Call it irony or whatever my only question was is it because of what's happening on screen is there some sort of joke happening I'm missing... MOST of the people have stated they like his promo's and that's an ok answer. There's one person who did a deeper dive into his character and background and that's a great answer. There's still a bunch of people saying how can you say people cheer something because of irony when people are cheering it... ___ That being said, a better question people who maybe hated him and now have done a 180 is it because he won you over with his work, or is it something else.

Yeah, screw it, this thread is done. We’re going in circles and nothing’s been resolved except someone correcting me even though a post said they were right about it and correcting myself.
I’m not going to read any DMs I get in the aftermath of this, just so people know.
