I think they should be proud of that demo. It really highlights their audience is younger, and they have a pretty solid core viewership that equates to that demo.
That's really good for them to sell themselves, and Networks to be able to sell ads based on it.
WWE winning was to be expected, but AEW didnt collapse it's core.
Ultimately a good night for pro-wrestling as a TV commodity whichever side you prefer.

If WWE spends that much money to try to combat you, it's generally a sign you're doing something right.

So we had a bunch of promotion, some real good matches, and about a million and a half viewers across the two shows. Nothing but a win here for pro wrestling. Nope sorry man. The Mighty WWE stood up against the villainous AEW and stood tall to end the night. AEW in the mud!!

NXT won as expected but in all honesty I expect the real story long term here is for all WWE did they could not hit over a million viewers.
And the demo being that close (remember the previous war how the demo was all that mattered).

Hollow victory for WWE/NXT. They had to call in the big guns to win. And, even then, barely won the demo.

Did NXt stack their card/roster as heavy in that last head to head? I can't remember anything as absurd as last night but might be wrong. Not as stacked (no Cena/Taker level talent) but they did have Kevin Owens, the Judgment Day (including a Rhea vs. Roxanne match), Shinsuke Nakamura, Raquel, the OC, Shotzi and Theory.

AEW wasn’t winning on a different night than normal with NXT bringing in Cena, Cody, Taker, Asuka, etc.
Than only being .4 off in the Demo is pretty good however.
Amusing side not, Lola Vice is a draw brother.

More than the viewership crossover I imagine the change of date was a significant hurt
But the ratings weren't far off from their usual about a 0.4 difference

Honestly, boggles my mind that people actually thought AEW had a chance. There was zero chance that a 4 year old company was going to beat the 70 year old company with the ability to throw money towards getting whoever they want from their history or their present roster.
It'd have been like if an A24 movie was being put against Barbie instead of Oppenheimer. It'd probably do well because it'd be an alternative to the big blockbuster with the all star cast but you're dealing with a company that is still finding its footing against a company that lives and breathes this stuff. If anything, it's the demo that's really interesting because it means young people (or people with disposable income) were very keen in watching both shows.

Well... HBK did work for KENS5 when he was retired and they air Spurs games often... so there's that.

The Stand Up For WWE crowd across social media is treating this as if AEW is gonna shut down tomorrow because of this. It's absolutely embarrassing to witness. Yeah, I posted the other day that when the ratings dropped and NXT inevitably beat Dynamite handily I would have to stay off the wrestling internet for a bit and here I am on the wrestling internet. I'm a masochist.

Gallus match lost 100k viewers and the only segment NXT lost in the key demo.

If anything, it's the demo that's really interesting because it means young people (or people with disposable income) were very keen in watching both shows. Sorry but there was definitely a chance. The same thing happened last year with only half the stars advertised and AEW won handily (0.26 to 0.18). That was against Owens, Balor, Ripley, Shinsuke, that caliber of talent. Obviously, WWE went bigger this year by having that caliber of talent and then adding Cena and Cody to the advertising (with a hint of Taker as well) to push the promotion over the top. But AEW also advertised singles matches with Edge, Danielson, Moxley and Jericho, their biggest draws. So I don’t think it was crazy to think Dynamite had a shot to win, at least in the demo where they skew much younger than NXT does.

Meltzer is saying both sides are happy from what he's heard and they should be. Both did well. Yeah, NXT kept most of its audience, Dynamite lost by about the gap they should have rather than what it could have been, the demo gap is surprisingly tight and I'm sure DVR numbers will fill the gap for both. No real cause for concern for either, really.

NXT more than kept its audience. It was the highest viewership since the first two USA episodes in 2019, pre-Dynamite. And it was the highest demo in over 3 years.
