NXT more than kept its audience. It was the highest viewership since the first two USA episodes in 2019, pre-Dynamite. And it was the highest demo in over 3 years.
Well of course they had to call in Taker and Cena to get that.
Good night for wrestling fans, but damn was it a pain in the ass for me trying to watch both while posting here! I accidentally posted, "LET'S GO ILJA" twice in the Dynamite thread. 😂

Sure, was just putting context to the post that said they simply kept most of their audience.
I don't know what people were thinking at all, I thought AEW had zero chance of winning last night and this was expected. At the end of the day they both were mostly dope shows and that's all I cared about. Just makes me wonder how the Dynamite rating would have been had TK closed his mouth. Dude was tweeting like he had Charlie's golden lotto ticket but he ended up with Tsunade's lotto ticket.
It should have just been about great wrestling at the end of the day but hey, it is what it is. Enjoy it.
Pretty much to be expected. Not much you can take from it with how many of their top stars WWE ended up putting on the show and AEW moving nights, they clearly had no faith in actual NXT beating AEW so made it more of a Raw or Smackdown which routinely get much bigger viewing figures. I guess they couldn't really afford a loss of any kind to AEW while they're 'red hot'.
Actually watched a bit of NXT today to see if it was worth watching, to see if I watch the wrong company these days (don't really have the time to watch both and am often unimpressed by anything WWE do but haven't really tried NXT)... yeah, definitely still not for me, even without all the olds showing up. Also considering that 'fired up WWE source' indicated they'd start with something would blow AEW away, I can only assume he didn't mean in terms of quality because a Cody promo for an announcement everyone knew was coming and then a 6 minute match? f*** me.

Hope Tony is enjoying a nice humble pie for his birthday
Humble pie by forcing NXT to stack their show with Cena and Taker and the likes and TBS once again fking up by going to commercial break at 10pm leading to the overrun doing the worst demo for Dynamite?

A lot of people can't seem to wrap their heads around the fact that Tony didn't choose to go head-to-head with NXT, knew his show wasn't going to win, and was just trying to advertise as best as he could with his antics on Twitter.

I'm of the mind just glad fans got great shows (didn't catch NXT yet but I really enjoyed Dynamite). The tribalism is always pretty painful and I've bitched enough about how I feel about equating everything to number business when you business numbers (and this is a ratings thread so that's just walking into a party whining about what the party is for), but the plus side of nights like last night are when companies go above and beyond to give their all for the shows' betterment.
Tony's a big numbers guy right? I'd be amazed if having seen NXT numbers last week and who WWE were booking he'd think he was going to win and would be humbled by not doing so.
He didn't book his show like someone who thought he'd be winning, it was stacked but not the most stacked card they've had this year, Grand Slam, Detroit and the LA Forum show in particular were all more loaded and there's quite a few things he could have done to push the boat out further, an Omega match, a World Title Match, some more legit dream matches, maybe even Mercedes Mone. Also could have booked a more interesting match for Adam Copeland's debut (though Luchasaurus made perfect storyline sense and was a very good main event) or a bunch of cameos and returns, but didn't.
I have no idea whether his Twitter ranting gets any viewers or not but I'd imagine it was designed to just get as many eyes as possible as opposed to gloating as if he was going to win.

I wonder if he is surprised the Kingdom vignette was the only thing that beat NXT last night, and no wonder he doesnt want Cole to be off tv.
